Chapter 196 What is the truth? Arrested

Ding Fei uttered arrogant words, but no one present listened. One of the policemen even scoffed, "If the Ding family had this kind of ability, you wouldn't have been brought here by us. Miss Ding, you should worry about yourself first."

As they were talking, Ding Fei was pushed directly into a room.

"Brother?" Ding Fei's eyes lit up with surprise. "What are you doing here? You haven't been home all night, I was so worried!"

"N-nothing...it's nothing." Ding Hai avoided meeting Ding Fei's gaze. He felt guilty and didn't dare to look Ding Fei in the eye. He just mumbled, "Feifei, take good care of yourself from now on."

As he spoke, the police led him out of the room, leaving Ding Fei alone in the room talking to herself.

"What's wrong with him? He can't even speak clearly." Ding Fei said, suddenly noticing something out of the corner of her eye.

Lu Yunzhi, standing to the side, asked, "Lu Yunzhi?"

She no longer felt any affection for Lu Yunzhi; all she wanted now was to destroy him!

"Lu Yunzhi, you haven't gotten yourself into some big trouble to come here, have you?"

"Right?" Ding Fei's lips curled into an undisguised sarcasm as she crossed her arms and looked down on him.

He said, "If you beg me now, perhaps I can use my family connections to help you."

“Miss Ding is really boastful. Even now, she still doesn’t understand who got into trouble.” Lu Yunzhi tapped his knuckles lightly on the table. “Your brother just confessed everything about you.”

"What?" Ding Fei's expression froze.

"Was it your idea to kidnap us?" Lu Yunzhi asked.

"Of course not," Ding Fei denied immediately. "Besides, I only mentioned it casually behind her back. How could that be considered giving advice?"

She didn't think that a casual remark she made would cause any major trouble. So, she didn't show any signs of nervousness on the surface.

She nonchalantly tossed her long hair, "These days, can a casual remark really cause trouble? If that's the case, I think your whole family would have to kowtow and apologize to me, otherwise the words you've uttered are enough to cause you a lifetime of trouble you can't repay!"

Hearing Ding Fei's audacious words, everyone in the room lowered their heads—trying not to laugh!

How can anyone in the world be so confident? Does she really think she's some kind of god, untouchable by anything?

Ding Fei still didn't realize something was wrong. She quickly glanced at everyone and said, "Just let anyone come out and take me home."

Seeing that no one moved, Ding Fei impatiently stamped her foot and urged, "Hurry up! You won't even take a chance to curry favor with the Ding family? Are you all idiots like Lu Yunzhi?"

Lu Yunzhi sneered, "I think Miss Ding is the fool you're talking about, isn't she?"

As soon as he finished speaking, a policeman walked out from beside him and handcuffed him.

Ding Fei.

The police officer said righteously, "Ding Hai just confessed that you directed the entire crime; he was just your henchman."

"What?" Ding Fei exclaimed in surprise, her voice rising a octave. "You're lying! I want to see my brother!"

In her eyes, her brother had always been a pillar of strength. There was nothing he couldn't do for her, no matter what she wanted.

But now, a crack seems to have appeared in Ding Hai's image in her mind.

Ding Fei kept shouting, "I want to see my brother! I must hear him say those words myself, otherwise you're arresting me without any evidence. This is a crime!"

Everyone: Now you know what a crime is? Why didn't you know that when you were plotting to harm people?

Even so, they still summoned Ding Hai and Ding Fei for a face-to-face meeting.

In the dimly lit room, a long table was placed in the center, with Ding Hai and Ding Fei each sitting on one side of the table.

Upon seeing Ding Hai, Ding Fei, overcome with emotion, slammed her hand on the table and demanded, "Brother! These people just tried to sow discord between you and me! They insisted that you said I was the one giving you advice!"

"What else is this but instigation? Bro, let me tell you, these people... when you go back you'll have to..."

"I did it," Ding Hai said.

Before Ding Fei could finish speaking, she heard Ding Hai calmly and quietly utter these words. Her mind went blank for a moment, but her first reaction was to defend her brother.

"No, that's not it..." Ding Fei tried to defend Ding Hai. But after racking her brains for a long time, she couldn't find a suitable reason. The once lofty image of Ding Hai in her mind instantly collapsed.

What she found even more unbearable was that she considered herself the happiest girl, pampered and loved by her family, and given whatever she wanted.

But now this happiness seems like a bubble, ready to burst at the slightest touch.

"Ding Hai, why did you do this! Tell me why!" Ding Fei roared at Ding Hai with heartbreaking anger, completely losing her previous smug demeanor.

Ding Hai subtly moved his stool back, stood up, and looked at the person next to him.

Someone said, "If she gets arrested, I can release her, right?" Ding Fei became even more frantic after Ding Hai said this.

It turns out that Ding Hai is a selfish and treacherous person! He chose to abandon himself so that he could escape!

Lu Yunzhi wanted to instill genuine despair and anger in Ding Fei, so he subtly gave a wink to the police officer next to him. The officer understood and said to them, "Ding Fei will remain here to await questioning. Ding Hai will come out first."

The policeman's words undoubtedly amplified the resentment and hatred in Ding Fei's heart. Her nails dug into her flesh, and her bloodshot eyes glared fiercely at Ding Hai.

Ding Hai left the room with the police with a relaxed expression. Just when he thought he was about to be free, the police suddenly took him to another room.
