Chapter 38 Shameless

The military compound resembled a residential area from a decade or so later, except the buildings weren't as tall. Shen Qianqian followed the guard downstairs until he stopped in front of a house.

"This is Minister Shen's house. Young comrade, I won't accompany you inside."

"Thank you for bringing me here. This place is very different from our brigade; I might get lost." After thanking the guard, Shen Qianqian approached the Shen family's door. Just as she was about to knock, the door was opened.

It opened from the inside.

A woman with short, ear-length hair was walking out with her head down, carrying a basin filled with water, which she was probably going to splash out.

Shen Qianqian's brow twitched, and she quickly stepped aside.

Hello, Auntie!

Wu Yunhua heard a clear and loud voice, looked up and saw a tall and slender girl standing in front of her. The girl had a slightly round face, her eyebrows and eyes were vaguely familiar, and her smile was bright and genuine, which made her very likable.

She paused for a moment.

"Young comrade, who are you?"

Shen Qianqian: "Auntie, don't you remember my voice? We talked on the phone just now."

Upon hearing this reminder, Wu Yunhua remembered and quickly invited her into the house.

Shen Qianqian noticed that she was still holding an iron basin in her hand.

"Auntie, please go get some water first. Don't be shy, this is my home too."

Wu Yunhua was a little embarrassed, so she quickly poured some water and led her into the house.

Shen Qianqian looked around the house. It wasn't big, but it was clean and tidy, making the space seem larger. It was easy to imagine that Shen Jia's second wife was a very capable woman.

A little girl with chubby cheeks and two little braids sat obediently on the sofa reading a comic book in the living room.

Wu Yunhua introduced: "This is Miaomiao, my daughter. Miaomiao came over to say hello to her sister."

The little girl on the sofa remained unmoved, as if she hadn't heard her mother calling.

She remained obedient, intently reading the book on her lap.

Shen Qianqian sensed something was wrong.

Wu Yunhua walked over, a little angry, and pulled Shen Miaomiao, telling her to call for help.

Shen Miaomiao immediately screamed in terror.

Shen Qianqian finally realized where this sense of unease came from!

She quickly went over to stop Wu Yunhua: "Auntie, if you don't want to call her, then don't. We shouldn't disturb her while she's reading."

Wu Yunhua stopped and glanced at her daughter again.

Seeing her daughter hiding in a corner, clutching the comic book and watching her with a wary and frightened look, a wave of sorrow washed over her.

This is my own daughter!

What had she just done to force her like this! "Miaomiao..."

Wu Yunhua wanted to go over and hug her daughter.

Shen Miaomiao ran back to her room with the book in her arms.

After watching this scene, Shen Qianqian was at a loss for words.

Who would have thought that her half-sister was ill? Judging from this, one can only imagine how tiring it must be for Wu Yunhua to take care of such a child.

She subtly changed the subject.

"Auntie, where is my room? I've been on the train for more than two days, and I want to rest."

She scratched her head. She hadn't showered for two days in the sweltering heat, and she was starting to feel the heat. She could smell the grease on her head when she touched it. But since Shen Jia hadn't returned, she couldn't shower. She had to let Shen Jia see just how miserable her daughter, whom she hadn't seen for 13 years, really was!

Wu Yunhua wiped her eyes and led Shen Qianqian into the room.

"The house isn't big, there are three rooms. You and Miaomiao will share a room, and the other bed is newly made."

As soon as the door opened, a quilt protruding from a small bed in the room was seen, presumably where Shen Miaomiao was hiding.

Upon seeing this, Wu Yunhua couldn't resist and went over to remove the blanket. Shen Qianqian didn't have time to stop her.

The little girl screamed again.

Shen Qianqian remained silent.

Shen Miaomiao was clearly in a state where she couldn't be stimulated any further, but Wu Yunhua didn't understand and kept pushing Shen Miaomiao's limits, which made her more and more agitated.

Shen Qianqian stopped Wu Yunhua's actions.

"Auntie, please let your sister calm down and read a book. If you keep shouting like this, she'll lose her voice."

Shen Miaomiao didn't understand why her mother was bothering her. She could only scream and resist, but she didn't lay a hand on her mother, which was probably the result of Wu Yunhua's best efforts in teaching her.

Wu Yunhua left the room.

Shen Qianqian took out a few chocolates from her bag and placed them in front of Shen Miaomiao.

She ate a lot of this on the train, and there was still a little bit left in her bag. However, before leaving, she sent a letter to Hong Kong Island asking them to send chocolates over and asking Yu Linyun and Yu Linyang to help her pick them up.

She stared at Shen Miaomiao for a few moments and noticed that she resembled the original owner of this body somewhat in appearance, both having thick eyebrows and large eyes. This was probably inherited from Shen Jia?

However, Shen Miaomiao exuded a kind of stubborn foolishness, and it was unclear whether it was due to her illness.

question.

She was staring at the chocolate with curiosity, without moving.

Shen Qianqian took one, unwrapped it, and put it in her mouth. After a while...

Shen Miaomiao was moved and started eating like her, stuffing a mouthful in, but her mouth was too small and she almost couldn't bite it off.

After finishing one, Shen Miaomiao stared intently at Shen Qianqian without saying a word.

"?)%

Shen Qianqian wasn't sure what she meant, so she gave a thumbs up and said, "Great job!" The little girl immediately smiled.

Sigh, that's good. At least they're more obedient and sensible than the Yu family, and easier to please. "Minister Shen!"

Shen Jia looked up and saw the guard greeting him warmly, his dark face revealing a set of white teeth.

"Minister Shen, your daughter is here. She's at home. Go back and check on her!"

Shen Jia was completely baffled, and he kept saying "Eh?" twice. Wasn't his daughter always at home? As he entered the house, a clear, unfamiliar voice came from inside.

He glanced at her, and his youngest daughter, Shen Miaomiao, gave a rare smile to the person next to her.

He exclaimed "Eh!" and quickly walked closer.

That's so rare.

Shen Qianqian seemed to sense something and noticed a handsome middle-aged man staring at her with a puzzled look. "Dad, you're back!"

Shen Jia was stunned by the word "Dad".

"You're Qianqian? You've grown so much!"

Shen Qianqian thought to herself, "This man is truly wicked. Not only does he not recognize his own daughter, but he has also forgotten her age!"

She didn't show any displeasure, still smiling brightly; she seemed like a cheerful and kind girl. "Yes, I'm already 18."

Shen Jia still seemed quite emotional.

"Why didn't you send a letter before? I asked your grandma to take you to have a picture taken, otherwise I wouldn't have known you were so big."

Pah! How shameless!

Shen Qianqian's smile faded, turning into a wry smile: "There's nothing I can do. For the past ten years or so, my grandmother said there were things going on at home, so I couldn't go to school and I was too embarrassed to write to you. But I've been studying on my own, and finally this year I took the exam and am preparing to go to high school."

Upon hearing this, Shen Jia's expression changed, and he suppressed his anger.

"Don't your grandparents let you go to school?"

“I send so much money to them every month, and the Yu family won’t even let you go to school. Are they trying to ruin you?”

puff.

So much money?

Shen Qianqian almost burst out laughing.
