Chapter 106 Unjust Money

Yuan Hongyan thought about it carefully. She didn’t tell her colleagues about her dream today, but how could Su Muxi know about it?

Yuan Hongyan asked seriously, "Su Muxi, where did you hear these things?"

Su Muxi shook her head and said, "Teacher Yuan, I didn't hear it from others, I saw it on your face."

"Your deceased relatives are too poor in the underworld. You, the younger generations, should burn more paper money for the elderly to help them live a better life there. Then they won't come to see you every day."

She was silent for a moment, then whispered, "Is this all true?"

Su Muxi nodded and said firmly: "Of course it's true, everything I said is true."

After saying these words, Su Muxi walked to a place where there were no other children and sat there in a daze.

Yuan Hongyan's expression at this moment was no less than that of seeing an alien creature.

It took her a few minutes to slowly digest what Su Muxi said.

Then I saw Su Muxi sitting in a daze in the crowd.

After much hesitation, she asked other teachers to look after the children for the time being, and she hurried towards the school gate.

She was going to call home.

In the reception room, Yuan Hongyan picked up the phone and dialed her home number.

“Beep, beep, beep…”

After the phone rang a few times, it was finally connected.

"Hello, who is this?"

A familiar voice came from the other end of the phone.

Yuan Hongyan quickly said, "Mom, it's me, Hongyan."

Upon hearing her daughter's voice, Yuan's mother immediately asked excitedly, "Hongyan, you called me a few days ago. Why are you calling me again today? Is there something wrong?"

Yuan Hongyan quickly explained: "It's okay, Mom, I just missed you, so I called to say hello."

Yuan's mother breathed a sigh of relief, then immediately began to nag: "Phone bills are so expensive. Don't call unless there's something important in the future. Save the money and use it when you get married."

Before Yuan Hongyan could even open her mouth to speak, she was nagged by her mother.

Every time I call home, my mother always gives me the same old advice: Don't spend money recklessly, save more money, and find a partner and get married quickly.

Yuan Hongyan has become accustomed to her parents' stinginess and nagging.

After all, their generation came from an era of material scarcity. Even though their living conditions have improved now, they still maintain the habit of frugality.

Although life at home is better than before, there are still families richer than ours.

So her parents told her to be frugal since she was a child.

For a used notebook, use the back after writing on the front.

If the pencil is too short, you can tie a wooden stick to it to use up the last bit.

The water used after washing your face should either be used to wash your feet or to wash clothes. It must never be poured away directly.

After eating, you should use steamed buns to wipe off the oil on the food plates and eat them to avoid wasting them.

There are many similar things, such as using toothpaste until it can no longer be squeezed out before throwing it away;

There is always only one light on in the house, and it is the one with the lowest wattage.

Even bath water has to be collected to flush the toilet.

There are countless examples like this.

Listening to Yuan's mother's nagging, Yuan Hongyan quickly interrupted her.

"Mom, did you guys do the last time I called you to burn incense and paper for my grandparents?"

Yuan's mother immediately replied: "We will definitely do what you said."

Yuan Hongyan thought of her parents' stinginess and suddenly remembered something.

"Mom, how much paper money did you burn for my grandparents?"

This time, Yuan's mother was vague, "The amount burned in the past is the same as the amount burned this time."

Hearing the tone of Yuan's mother and Su Muxi's words, Yuan Hongyan knew exactly what was going on.

"Mom, tell me clearly, how much was burned?"

Yuan Hongyan's voice was a little loud. She was feeling angry and felt that her mother had gone too far.

When Yuan's mother was asked this question, she didn't care and said loudly: "This is not a festival, who would burn paper and money? I bought a handful of money and burned half of it."

When Yuan Hongyan heard this, she was extremely angry.

"Mom, that handful of paper money is only a few cents. I asked you to buy more, but why are you so stingy?"

"It's not like I don't give you money every month. Burning some money for my grandparents won't cost much."

Yuan's mother was also angry when she heard Yuan Hongyan's accusations.

"People are dead. What's the point of burning so much paper money for them?"

"It's better to keep the money for our own use than to spend it in vain."

When Yuan Hongyan heard her mother's twisted logic, she was speechless.

She sighed and said helplessly, "Well, since you don't want to burn paper for my grandparents, then I will go back to their graves every month and burn paper for them."

When Yuan's mother heard that her daughter wanted to come back by herself every month, she knew that the round-trip tickets would be a considerable expense.

He immediately changed his tone and advised, "Hey, Hongyan, you're so busy at work, it will take you a whole day to go back and forth."

"With this time, you might as well take a good rest."

"Okay, you don't have to come back. I'll listen to you and burn more paper money for your grandparents every month."

Yuan Hongyan knew that given her mother's personality, she would definitely not let her go back.

But he was still a little worried and continued to remind her, "Then go buy some paper money later."

Then she added, "Oh, and those people's clothes and shoes, remember to buy three or five sets for each of them and burn them together."

Yuan Hongyan said worriedly, "Then go buy paper money later."
