Chapter 2: Finding a Job
After getting the answer he wanted, Yin Xiao sorted out the information he read in his mind.
The ship that smuggled her into the port city carried many items in addition to people. From the crew's words, it was determined that those items were cultural relics.
After arriving at the port city, the several ships we encountered were all from the same group, and they were full of cargoes from Southeast Asia.
During these few days, from some unintentional words of the thugs who imprisoned the girls, Yin Xiao analyzed the direction the ship was docking and where the smuggled goods were hidden.
Steven knew that he had to strike while the iron was hot, so he asked for support from headquarters before the smugglers could react.
That night, the police station not only dispatched a large number of police cars and police officers, but also coordinated with the water police and used boats to encircle the smugglers from both land and water.
By the time we finished work, it was already noon the next day.
Although Steven had been busy all night, he was in high spirits and walked with a breeze. When he saw Yin Xiao, he couldn't help but smile.
"Where's the ID card? Where's the reward?"
Yin Xiao had slept all night and was curled up lazily on the sofa, stretching.
"I'm taking you to get your ID card now, and to collect your reward."
Steven drove over and took Yin Xiao to the Immigration Department.
On the way, Steven, holding the steering wheel with one hand and a cigarette in the other, asked, "What's your name?"
"Yin..." Yin Xiao rolled his eyes and said, "Hu Xiaoxiao. My name is Hu Xiaoxiao."
"Your last name is Hu? Why do those girls from your hometown have the last name Zhang?" Steven asked in surprise.
"I have the same last name as my grandmother." Hu Xiaoxiao touched the sofa and window in the car, and looked at the tall buildings and the busy traffic outside the window.
Everywhere you look, you can see the hustle and bustle.
She was filled with wonder. The world had become so colorful. Wasn't this the world she had originally wanted to enjoy?
"If you want to stay in Hong Kong, you have to find a job to support yourself." Steven turned the steering wheel and the Immigration Department was in front of him.
He looked around, looking for a place to park.
"Don't I have a bounty?" Hu Xiaoxiao didn't know what Steven was looking for, but his eyes looked around curiously.
Steven couldn't help but laugh and said, "That's not enough for you to spend."
Hu Xiaoxiao pointed at the car under him and turned to ask Steven, "Is it enough to buy a car like this?"
Steven smiled again, found a spot, and braked. "Not enough to buy another wheel."
"The reward is so small?" Hu Xiaoxiao's eyes showed a hint of confusion.
"It's not that the bounty is small, it's that the car is expensive. My car is imported from Germany. It was made in Japan, and it's the same model as Chen Tianwang's." Steven opened the car door, walked out, pointed at a speeding motorcycle, and said, "You can buy a motorcycle."
Hu Xiaoxiao imitated Steven just now, pushed open the car door, got out of the car, and was sprayed in the face by the exhaust gas from the motorcycle.
She covered her mouth and nose. It was a stinky smell, and she didn't like it. "Who is Chen Tianwang?"
"A big star who can act, sing, and dance. He's a triple-edged star in film, television, and music. Everyone in Hong Kong knows him."
Steven took Hu Xiaoxiao into the office, took out his ID to prove his identity, guaranteed Hu Xiaoxiao, and helped her apply for an identity.
After completing all the procedures, he gave the receipt to Hu Xiaoxiao and asked her to pick up her ID card in a month.
"It doesn't matter if you don't know the way. You can take a taxi here to get it."
Back in the car, Steven taught Hu Xiaoxiao how to fight and some common sense.
Hu Xiaoxiao learns very quickly. Even if he doesn't know the specific operations of some things, he will remember them in his mind first.
Steven drove back to the police station and took Hu Xiaoxiao to collect the reward.
With Steven's help, I avoided a lot of procedures and successfully got 10,000 yuan.
Hu Xiaoxiao took the money and followed the aroma. He pointed at the roast chicken stall across from the police station, swallowed his saliva, and asked, "How much does a chicken cost?"
"I'll treat you." Steven was busy all night and was hungry, so he walked towards the roast chicken stall.
Hu Xiaoxiao followed him closely and asked, "Is it all-you-can-eat?"
Steven looked back at the slender Hu Xiaoxiao, not believing she could eat much. "Yes, I guarantee you'll eat as much as you want."
The roast chicken stall was a fast food business. When the owner saw Steven, he greeted him and said, "Hello, Sir." "We have freshly roasted goose. Would you like to order the set menu?"
Hu Xiaoxiao stared at a fat chicken hanging above, swallowed his saliva, and said, "I want to eat this."
Steven took a look and said to the boss, "Give me a plate of white-cut chicken."
"I want one."
"Okay, give me a boiled chicken."
Hu Xiaoxiao pointed to the two chickens next to him, both fat, one yellow and one brown, and said, "I want these two too."
"Can you finish it?" Steven asked her.
"I can finish them." Hu Xiaoxiao nodded seriously, thinking back to the time when she ate chickens by the hundred.
Steven agreed, thinking he could take away any leftovers, and said to the boss, "Give me another salt-baked chicken and another soy sauce chicken."
"Sir, are you a girl?" The boss jokingly asked Steven if she was his girlfriend.
"Don't talk nonsense, just ordinary friends."
After we sat down at the table, the boss quickly brought us the three chickens and rice we ordered.
Steven picked up his chopsticks and took only a mouthful of rice when he noticed that Hu Xiaoxiao had quickly finished a plate of boiled chicken.
Then he picked up the soy sauce chicken and finished it quickly.
The final salt-baked chicken was also finished to Steven's stunned gaze.
After finishing the meal, Hu Xiaoxiao put down the plate with a feeling of being unsatisfied. Except for the last salt-baked chicken which was a bit salty, the other chickens were more delicious than any she had ever eaten before.
I'll eat it again next time.
She touched her full stomach and regretted that it was too small to hold much food.
Steven slowly put down his chopsticks. The shock in his heart was enough to make him full. "How long has it been since you last had meat?"
Hu Xiaoxiao tilted his head, thought for a while, and gave up. "It's been too long. I can't remember it."
I don’t know how many years have passed, and I don’t know how many changes have taken place.
Steven said sympathetically, "I heard that life is very hard for you mainlanders, and you only get to eat meat during the Lunar New Year. But now you're in Hong Kong. As long as you're willing to endure hardships and work hard, you don't have to worry about not having enough to eat."
Hu Xiaoxiao curled up again out of habit, hunched over on the narrow chair, and shook his head: "I don't like hardship, I just like eating chicken."
Steven was amused. "If you want to eat chicken, you have to work hard. Hong Kong doesn't support idle people. By the way, what kind of job are you going to find to support yourself?"
He was too lazy to order any more barbecued food, so he picked up the three plates of chicken, poured the chicken sauce on the rice, mixed it, and started eating with big mouthfuls.
Hu Xiaoxiao saw him eating with big mouthfuls and felt greedy again, but he was too full to eat any more.
"I'm looking for a job as a waiter in a restaurant."
As I recall, people in the village said that a waiter's monthly salary was two thousand yuan, which was a lot of money.
They say that one month's salary is enough for the whole family to have a good life for a whole year.
Hu Xiaoxiao took out the bounty in her hand, each note had a face value of one thousand. She counted two and was a little confused. She counted two more and was still a little confused.
