Chapter 2 Are You Really Going to Marry Me?

Ji Huaizhi's footsteps paused when Li Yang called him, his eyelashes raised, and his cold eyes seemed to be filled with tiny streams of light.

Before either of them could speak, Feng Mei cursed, "You little bitch, are you getting cocky? Hurry up and get out of here..." Catching a glimpse of Ji Huaizhi at the door, she suddenly became defensive and grabbed Li Yang, "Why are you talking to him?"

There was unconcealable disgust in his tone, but he couldn't help but feel fear.

Ji Huaizhi's name was known throughout Lie Village and even most of Yangcheng, to the point where adults would use it to scare crying children. Rumor had it that Ji Huaizhi was a gangster, ruthless, and had blood on his hands. Coupled with his perpetually cold face and his still-talked-about family background, he became a figure everyone feared.

However, Li Yang knew that the real Ji Huaizhi was not like this. He was a good man, better than anyone else.

In her previous life, she fainted in the factory due to stomach cancer and was sent to the hospital by her coworkers. When she opened her eyes again, she saw him sitting beside the bed.

The setting sun shone through the window, falling on his still delicate and sharp eyebrows, as if everything was the same as it was back then.

She asked him in a hoarse voice, "Why are you back?"

Or perhaps what she wanted to ask more was why was he here?

Since she married Fu Jin, she has never seen him again. Some said he was gone, and some said he was dead. It was not until many years later when he appeared on TV as a successful young entrepreneur in China that they realized his life was no longer something they could reach.

He didn't answer her question directly, but only said, "Take good care of yourself, and don't worry about the medical expenses."

Her illness had reached a terminal stage, and there was no cure, yet expensive imported drugs continued to flow into her ward. She couldn't help but ask him, "Why?"

Obviously, I was once afraid of and stayed away from him like many people.

He just curled his lips, his brows gentle: "Just consider it my repayment."

Li Yang couldn't remember when she had ever been kind to Ji Huaizhi, but she knew that it was her turn to repay his kindness in this life.

Hearing Feng Mei's words, Ji Huaizhi didn't even frown. A faint sneer appeared at the corner of his mouth, and he turned around to leave.

"Wait a minute." Li Yang stopped him.

She walked down the stairs quickly, came to Ji Huaizhi's side, bravely hooked her arm around his, and said to Feng Mei: "I'm in love with him, and I want to marry him."

As soon as she finished speaking, she felt Ji Huaizhi's body stiffen.

He turned his head, his cold eyes locked on her face with a complicated expression.

In addition, in her previous life, Li Yang and Ji Huaizhi didn't have many opportunities to get along with each other, and they could even be said to be strangers. Now he has not yet restrained his sharp edge, his eyebrows and eyes are naturally cold, and his sharp aura makes her tremble uncontrollably.

She knew that what she did was a bit despicable, but looking at the whole of Yangcheng, the only person Feng Mei was afraid of was probably Ji Huaizhi.

She didn't know whether Ji Huaizhi now would lend her a helping hand like Ji Huaizhi would more than ten years later, but she could only take a risk, because he was the only lifeline she could cling to.

She owed him a life in her previous life, and she owed him a favor in this life. As long as she escaped this, she would work like a slave for him, even if it meant sacrificing her life for him.

Feng Mei was completely shocked and didn't dare to reply to Ji Huaizhi. She quickly dragged Li Yang over and said, "Come here quickly! Who taught you to be so shameless? Do you have any shame?" As she spoke, she glanced at Ji Huaizhi out of the corner of her eye, fearing that he would suddenly attack her.

Even if all the young girls in the alley liked Ji Huaizhi's face, it would be a shame to make her believe that Li Yang would get together with Ji Huaizhi right under her nose!

Bah! Bah! Feng Mei cursed herself inwardly and increased the strength in her hands.

Li Yang ignored the fact that her slender arm had turned red from being gripped by Feng Mei, and she still clung to Ji Huaizhi's arm tightly, "I won't! Aren't you just after the Fu family's money? Is Fu Jin more handsome than Ji Huaizhi? Is he better built and stronger than Ji Huaizhi? Or is he better to me than Ji Huaizhi?" Li Yang's face flushed so much that she simply closed her eyes and threw herself at Ji Huaizhi, "Anyway, I only like Ji Huaizhi, and I'd rather die than marry Fu Jin!"

Ji Huaizhi: "..."

He raised his eyebrows, and a look of understanding flashed in his eyes, as if he understood the dispute between the mother and daughter. The hand that was about to brush Li Yang away stopped in mid-air.

After hearing Li Yang's remarks, Feng Mei was so angry that she almost had a heart attack!

She no longer cared about being afraid of Ji Huaizhi, and pointed at Li Yang and cursed, "I'm telling you, if you dare to marry him, I'll beat you to death!" Then she said to Ji Huaizhi, "Our Li Yang is the daughter of a good family, please be kind and don't harm us."

Seeing Feng Mei slandering Ji Huaizhi again, Li Yang became anxious: "How can I not know who I like? If you don't understand him, don't say anything nonsense!"

She turned to look at Ji Huaizhi, pleading, "Ji Huaizhi, I've already told my mother about us, so just nod your head and say you're willing to marry me, okay?"

Feng Mei was tyrannical and overbearing, with eyes only for Lai Yiu-cho. Her father, Lai Kin-hai, was a weak, self-absorbed man. Neighbors did not interact much with their family due to Feng Mei's aggressive nature. She still remembered the despair of having no one to turn to in her previous life.

If he didn't help her, she would be finished.

Hearing this, Ji Huaizhi's black eyelashes trembled slightly, his shimmering peach blossom eyes smiled, and his lazy voice was a little hoarse, as if he was nonchalant: "Are you really going to marry me?"

Li Yang naturally nodded frantically: "Really."

As she spoke, she winked at Ji Huaizhi quietly, hoping that he could understand what she meant.

"Oh." Ji Huaizhi put his other hand in his trouser pocket, looked at Feng Mei, raised his chin, and said indifferently: "I want to marry Li Yang."

Feng Mei's blood pressure shot up to 180: "Marry me! You two, let go right now!"

She squeezed in between the two of them, using her body to forcibly separate them, then grabbed Li Yang and dragged him home: "Still embarrassing yourself here, come back with me!"

The noise at the door attracted the neighbors to come out and watch. If this matter were to get to the Fu family, the marriage would be ruined!

Li Yang naturally wouldn't let Feng Mei be dragged back like this. If he did the same as in his previous life and locked her up at home, by the time she was released, it would be too late to save her.

While she was delaying, she yelled at Ji Huaizhi: "I know, come to my house to propose marriage in the next two days, I'll be waiting for you... Ouch!"

Before Li Yang could finish his words, Feng Mei grabbed him fiercely, twisting his flesh and twisting it in circles. His fair skin instantly became red and swollen.

She endured the pain, tears welling up in her eyes, and looked at Ji Huaizhi unwillingly.

Just when she thought she was going to repeat the fate of her previous life, she saw Ji Huaizhi finally move.

He took a step forward and opened his thin lips: "Wait."
