Chapter 173 An Encounter at a Western Restaurant

Lin Ziyan watched as she took out a handkerchief and poured the liquid from the bottle into it, her eyelids twitching.

She had chili powder in her bag, which she could use if the two men next to her came over.

"Bang…"

Lin Ziyan walked around to the nearby trash can, kicked it hard, and the can rolled out, hitting the two men.

She took the opportunity to take out chili powder and sprinkle it on those people, then leaned against the tree trunk.

Cough cough...

Before the aunt could react, Lin Ziyan had already run quite a distance.

It's less than 500 meters from the Huazhou Hotel...

Lin Ziyan could vaguely see the security guards moving, and the wind whistled past her ears.

“Ah Yan…”

She vaguely heard someone calling her name; it sounded like Lin Jun's voice.

She quickly dismissed her own idea; at this time, Lin Jun should be in Germany…

The footsteps behind her grew closer and closer, and Lin Ziyan realized that 500 meters was no ordinary distance...

"Beep..."

A whistle blew, the footsteps stopped, and faded into the distance.

Lin Ziyan breathed a sigh of relief when she saw a security guard running over.

A large amount of cold air rushed into her throat, making her mouth feel as dry as if it were congested with blood.

“Ayan…” She heard Lin Jun’s voice again.

Lin Ziyan looked up and saw a tall, dark figure looming over her; she could still vaguely make out his outline.

"Nephew?"

Lin Ziyan called out in confusion and looked behind him.

Those people had long since disappeared.

Lin Jun frowned deeply. "Are you alright? Why were those people chasing you?"

Back in the hotel lobby.

Lin Jun handed her a bottle of water, pursing his lips as he looked at his cousin in front of him.

The two are about the same age, but they are from different generations.

"Lin Jun, what brings you to Beijing?" Lin Ziyan drank half a bottle of water before she recovered, then shivered.

She broke out in a cold sweat on her back, which felt chilly.

"Why are those people chasing you?" Lin Jun's eyes were filled with coldness.

Lin Ziyan briefly recounted her experience at the train station.

"Those people are human traffickers?" Lin Jun glared at her. Why didn't you say so earlier?

If he chases after them, he can catch them.

Lin Ziyan said, "Don't even think about chasing after them. That auntie was taken to the police station yesterday but managed to get out and then came here to ambush me. There must be someone protecting them."

Lin Jun looked at the person in front of him with complicated emotions, unable to utter a rebuttal.

He studied law and knew the intricacies of the situation.

These people are so arrogant in Beijing; it's impossible for them to be so powerful without having powerful backers.

"You still haven't said why you came to Beijing. Does that mean your uncle came too?" Lin Ziyan's eyes lit up.

Lin Jun's lips twitched; it seemed that his grandfather was more popular.

"No, I came here with my senior to discuss a case."

“He just happens to need a translator,” he said, turning to look at the Western restaurant next door.

Lin Jun had originally planned to have dinner at a Western restaurant, but decided to wait for Lin Ziyan before leaving the hotel.

"I'll treat you to Western food." Lin Ziyan followed his gaze, a smile spreading across her eyes.

The tension from before has long since dissipated.

Lin Jun was about to refuse, but under the pressure of her gaze, he touched the tip of his nose.

The two got up and walked towards the Western restaurant next door.

The Western restaurant here is owned by the hotel and is connected to the hotel lobby.

A delicate rose scent filled the air, and melodious music echoed overhead.

The upbeat music makes it easy to relax.

After Lin Ziyan sat down, she ordered steak and dessert before handing the menu to Lin Jun.

One steak costs the same as a worker's monthly salary now, no wonder there are so few people here.

Those who are currently dating probably wouldn't come here for a date.

Lin Jun glanced at the steak she had ordered and raised an eyebrow slightly.

"Would you like some snails?" he asked casually.

Lin Ziyan shook her head, "I'd rather eat mutton hot pot now."

Lin Jun, "..."

It was pitch black outside, and there was hardly anyone walking around.

The bright lights here make it seem rather out of place.

Lin Ziyan was momentarily dazed, and images of the bustling city with its light shows and constant traffic flashed through her mind.

"Are you going to the market again tomorrow?" Lin Jun felt that she was sitting here, but her mind was elsewhere.

It seems like it's looking outside, yet it also seems like it's thinking about something else through the outside scene.

After all, it's pitch black now, there's nothing to see.

"I'm not going. I'll sleep at the hotel tomorrow," Lin Ziyan said, squinting her eyes.

She's already done most of her shopping today, and the only store that's really good for selling shrimp paste right now is Beijing Lianchao.

She originally planned to stay in Beijing for a week, but now she may have to cut that time in half.

Lin Jun shook his head and chuckled, "Didn't you come here to expand the market?"

"The contracts are all signed, so there's nothing more for me to do after that," Lin Ziyan said, patting her cloth bag.

She is now eager to return home and wishes she could fly back to Fuzhou tomorrow.

I especially miss my grandmother's pickled vegetable noodles and shrimp soup.

She just arrived in Beijing yesterday, but she was delayed on the train for several days and has been away for a week.

"Do you have time to go back to Fuzhou?" Lin Ziyan asked casually.

At this point, the waiter brought out the steak.

"We'll stay in Beijing for two days and then head back to Germany," Lin Jun said, shaking his head as he cut his steak.

He also wanted to go back to Fushi to see his grandmother, but there wasn't enough time.

He took leave to come here; university courses are already demanding, so he can't stay long.

Lin Ziyan nodded, "It seems you won't be able to come back for the New Year this year either."

She knew that her great-aunt had been hoping for her uncle to come home for the New Year, perhaps for decades.

"Grandpa said he would come back before the New Year, but I'm not sure if I can still get leave," Lin Jun said with a wry smile.
