Chapter 509 Showing a bad attitude

Yi Ting froze, and just as she was about to say something, a splitting pain shot through her head.

Her brows furrowed, and she covered her head, unable to speak.

If she's really sent abroad, how will she pursue Jiang Dong?

"You...you don't even respect me anymore?" Yi Ting's grandfather banged his cane hard, his beard bristling and eyes wide with anger.

Yi Ting's mother walked in, her eyebrows slightly furrowed, patted her elegant suit, and casually closed the door.

She didn't blame her husband for being angry. This was a crucial moment for the Yi family's advancement, and their youngest daughter had actually offended the Lu family.

The father's shout completely destroyed any remaining affection the husband had for his father-in-law.

The position of mayor of Teng City is coveted by many, and it's not necessarily the Yi family's.

The enemy lurking in the shadows is hoping that the Yi family will stumble at this moment.

If it weren't for the Su family's existing connections helping to smooth things over, the mayor's position might not have gone to the Yi family.

Now, her father and youngest daughter are failing to see the situation clearly and are even eagerly handing their opponents ammunition against them.

If it were the Lu family abusing their power, they could try to reason with them, but the youngest daughter hadn't even provoked them, yet she still pounced on them.

"Look at him..." Unable to control her son-in-law, the old woman simply nagged at her daughter.

"This is Teng City. If some country bumpkin from out of town dares to bully the Yi family, everyone will think the Yi family is easy to bully..."

“You tell Grandpa yourself, I’m listening.” Madam Yi said sternly.

First the Su family, then the Lu family, and now the youngest daughter is causing trouble without even thinking.

Seeing her daughter's displeasure, the old man didn't dare to raise his voice any further.

In his view, even if his granddaughter hit someone, that person should have to suffer the consequences.

However, he was quite afraid of his daughter; he was stunned by just one look from her.

Yi Ting said, "Grandpa, it's my fault. Please ask my dad not to send me abroad."

Her face was swollen and her head was throbbing. She secretly vowed to make that person pay tenfold.

Mrs. Yi remained indifferent, instructed her assistant who had come with her to stay, turned and left, not staying in the ward any longer.

Before she left, she gave her father a look, as if to say, "See? You've raised such a wonderful granddaughter."

The noisy ward fell silent instantly.

Yi Ting watched her mother's departing figure, a dark glint flashing in her eyes.

At home, her parents paid more attention to her older brother and sister, and never cared about her.

She grew up with her maternal grandfather and had long since learned to read people's expressions and moods.

My sister-in-law, like my parents, doesn't like her.

If the family lets her run wild outside, isn't that a form of abandonment?

Her friends outside know she is the mayor's daughter and always fawn over her.

But once she got home, only she knew that she couldn't fit into the atmosphere at all.

"Waaah..." Yi Ting was really crying this time, covering herself with the blanket.

Outside the hospital,

As Mrs. Yi walked out of the hospital, she saw the mayor's car and sighed inwardly.

She walked over slowly, her face showing little emotion.

The Lu family has always kept a low profile and wouldn't hold a grudge against Yi Ting.

But having one more friend is always better than having one more enemy.

Mayor Yi sat in the back seat with his eyes closed, resting, his brows furrowed.

He received word that there would be changes at the higher-ups soon, but he didn't know how they would happen.

A ray of light shone in and fell on his face, obscuring his features.

After getting into the car, Mrs. Yi held her husband's hand and said, "I have already gone to the Su family to apologize."

"What happened tonight..."

She paused for a moment, her gaze indifferent, "These next few days we'll send Tingting abroad; at worst, we'll send a few more people to take care of her."

Both husband and wife feel guilty towards their youngest daughter, as she didn't grow up by their side, and there's a distance between them.

At the time, they were too busy to take care of themselves and had to send their baby girl, who was only a few months old, to live with her maternal grandfather.

Mayor Yi grasped her hand in return. The two were childhood sweethearts and had supported each other to get to where they were today.

He was well aware of his wife's predicament, so he always left household matters to her and rarely interfered.

"I'm sorry." Mayor Yi was tough on the outside but soft on the inside; he couldn't bring himself to be cruel to his youngest daughter either.

"We don't need to do much with the Lu family for now. From what we've heard, Lin Ziyan doesn't take Yi Ting seriously and just sees it as childish play," Madam Yi said calmly.

She didn't respond to her husband's apology, seemingly giving him a way out, but in reality, she was letting him keep his guilt buried deep inside.

She could hear his tone of voice when he spoke to her father clearly outside the ward. She knew the reasoning behind it, but if he didn't respect her family, how could he expect her to respect them in the future?

After becoming mayor, her husband faced more temptations. She could consider his reputation in public, but she wouldn't let him feel that everything was her duty.

Her children are all grown up, and she no longer relies on her husband for a living, but that doesn't mean he can disrespect her family.

Today he dares to give her father a hard time, tomorrow he'll treat her the same way, testing her limits step by step, and once he thinks she doesn't care, he'll go even further.

There are many couples who, despite being very close, end up parting ways after decades of companionship.

She was always clear-headed and would not allow her husband to overstep his boundaries just because he said a few sweet words.

She could give her father a hard time and reason with him, but she couldn't do that with her husband.

"I'm sorry, I lost my temper just now," Mayor Yi said, bowing his head in apology.

Madam Yi glanced at him and gave him a cold look.

She's not some innocent little rabbit. On the surface, she's just the mayor's wife, but she also runs a company, though outsiders can't find out.

So many foreign businessmen are willing to give Mayor Yi face, and it's not just because of his position.

"I'll take Yi Ting to apologize tomorrow." Mrs. Yi closed her eyes, feeling utterly exhausted.

Sometimes she envied her friend, who had a smooth life after marrying into the Su family and hardly had to worry about anything at home.

Back home,

Mrs. Yi went straight to her eldest daughter's room, ignoring Mayor Yi's astonished expression.

They have been married for many years and have never slept in separate rooms.

Yi Lanying's expression changed slightly when she saw her mother carrying pajamas into her room.

She didn't get up and walk over to her mother until her mother finished showering and came out of the bathroom to sit at the dressing table and wipe her face.

After removing her makeup, Mrs. Yi looked much younger. When the two looked at each other in the mirror, they didn't look like mother and daughter, but rather like sisters.

Yi Lanying kissed her lips and massaged her shoulders.

"Is your sister alright?" she couldn't help but ask.

Mrs. Yi remained calm. "I'll send her abroad in a couple of days."

Yi Lanying's brow twitched. Her mother hadn't looked nearly as tired as she did now when she went to the Su family to apologize last time.

She felt that her mother was acting particularly strangely tonight; she seemed very tired, and her eyes looked much dimmer.

"I'll sleep with you tonight." Madam Yi closed her eyes, already making plans in her mind.

She's always been the kind of person who thinks ten steps ahead before taking a single one.

Although her husband didn't show it very obviously, he had already begun to feel dissatisfied with her.

This dissatisfaction was like a sharp blade, piercing her weak spot.

"I'm not sending Yi Ting abroad." Madam Yi suddenly opened her eyes and spoke softly.

It's better for her to take the time to discipline her than to send her abroad.

She used to devote herself entirely to her husband, but now she feels physically and mentally exhausted.

Yi Lanying listened without saying much; she admired her mother from the bottom of her heart.
