Grandma Lan had visited the Lin family several times, but she had never really looked at the furnishings in Grandma Lin's room.
After Lin Atai went into the inner room, she closed the window.
He turned on the light again before walking toward the cabinet.
She emptied one of the cabinets before patting it and saying,
"Donate this as well."
Grandma Lan was stunned. She stepped forward and touched the pattern on the cabinet. When she smelled the fragrance of wood, her eyes widened and she looked at Grandma Lin in disbelief.
"These cabinets were made by the descendants of the Lu family. They have mechanisms. And they're made of Phoebe zhennan wood, so they have a fragrance," Atai said casually.
There aren't many of these old items, and she doesn't plan to donate them all; she'll only donate one.
Grandma Lan watched as Grandpa slid a few mechanisms, and the cabinet was completely locked.
From the outside, it looks like an ordinary cabinet.
Grandma Lan used to come from a prominent family and had seen many fine things, but her family members fled abroad and sold everything they could, leaving her only with gold bars and jewelry.
She did keep a jewelry box made of Phoebe zhennan wood, but its design was ordinary and not as ingenious as Lin Atai's.
"Let's wait for her to come over and let her see," Grandma Lan said excitedly.
Mrs. Lin said, "I donated this wardrobe along with my wedding dress."
Grandma Lan was still not recovered when we had dinner that evening.
Lin Ziyan served her soup. "Teacher, what's wrong?"
Lu Yun Shen looked at his grandmother and noticed that she seemed to have been in a daze.
"It's nothing." After recovering, Grandma Lan buried her head in her food.
It wasn't until after the meal that she mentioned that someone would secretly protect Lin Ziyan from now on.
Lu Qiuying and Xiao Jin exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with shock.
This kind of treatment seems to be reserved for people engaged in scientific research, right?
Moreover, he is an exceptionally skilled expert.
Lu Yunshen felt a sense of relief.
He would feel more at ease if there were more people protecting him.
What Jack said seemed to make sense, but it was actually full of loopholes.
He said he didn't know who Wang Erniu was, which is a big problem.
The real Wang Erniu may have already sunk to the bottom of the sea.
As Lu Yunshen thought of this, a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
He thought the truth he heard in Germany was unbelievable enough, but what he found in China was even more chilling.
The person he always made sure to see whenever he returned to the team was someone who remained hidden the deepest.
No wonder he immediately cuts off any leads he finds.
Now that I think about it carefully, it seems that the clues only went cold after I returned from the team each time.
After finishing his meal, Lu Yunshen went upstairs to the second floor and went straight to the terrace to smoke.
The village was shrouded in darkness, and the moon, as if soaked in water, faintly emitted a dim light.
Now everything seems clear, yet it's veiled by a layer of gauze, revealing hidden shadows.
"Have you heard? Maiwei Group is trying to cut its losses to survive." Lin Ziyan walked to the terrace, clutching a newspaper.
Snap!
Lin Ziyan turned on the balcony light, and the orange light spilled onto the ground, instantly chasing away the darkness.
"Yes, my uncle bought that factory and is planning to ship the machines back to China." Lu Yunshen leaned against the railing and exhaled a smoke ring.
A dark light flickered in his eyes, obscured by smoke rings, creating a hazy scene.
Maiwei was quite accommodating this time; the factory was old, and selling it would bring the group a lot of money back.
Lin Ziyan raised an eyebrow, took Lu Yunshen's arm, and took a drag of her cigarette.
Lu Yunshen's eyes gleamed with intense desire. He wrapped his arms around her slender waist and lowered his head to kiss her.
He parted her lips and teeth with the tip of his tongue, savoring the sweetness in her mouth.
Lin Ziyan pushed him away, her throat gradually becoming numb and itchy. His sudden kiss made her legs go weak.
"Don't seduce me." Lu Yun Shen released her, his eyes slightly red, a tingling sensation shooting up his spine and into his abdomen.
Lin Ziyan looked up, completely bewildered. What had she just done? She'd only taken a puff of his cigarette!
Her almond-shaped eyes shimmered with moisture, her red lips were slightly long, and her fair neck was exposed. Following the gaze downwards, one could faintly see a glimpse of snow-white skin.
The deep emotion in Lu Yun Shen's eyes wouldn't dissipate, and he sighed.
When did you learn to smoke?
Lin Ziyan said, "When I was preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam, I tried it once, and my dad happened to see me."
Lu Yun Shen gently embraced her, his gaze never leaving her.
She mentioned it once before, and never brought it up again.
"Guess what my dad said?" A smile appeared in Lin Ziyan's eyes, tinged with nostalgia.
She didn't understand the saying before: a good childhood heals a lifetime.
I think I understand it a little now.
"Did I insult you?" Lu Yunshen said calmly.
“No, he lit a cigarette and we chatted while leaning against the balcony railing.” Lin Ziyan’s eyes shone like stars.
Lu Yunshen looked at her in surprise; this was something that most parents couldn't do.
“My dad said it’s okay to smoke one or two cigarettes occasionally to relieve stress, but you can’t let them control you,” Lin Ziyan said calmly, a slight smile playing on her lips.
In my memory, her father smoked, but only a few times a year.
In the past, when she went out for business dinners, she and her driver picked her up a few times, and each time there was no smell of smoke in the private room.
"Is your father-in-law a businessman?" Lu Yunshen asked suspiciously.
People who are generally in business are not bound by rigid thinking.
Lin Ziyan smiled and briefly explained her family situation.
He then sighed, "If my dad knew I owned an electronics factory, he'd probably jump for joy."
“He always thought I would go home and inherit the family business.”
"They even used gold bars as bait, and a safe full of custom-made jewelry..."
Lu Yun Shen pursed his lips. No wonder, he used to think that the girl in front of him regarded gold bars as ordinary objects.
It turns out her father-in-law gave her a safe full of jewelry... which was even custom-made.
