Lin Ziyan continued riding her bicycle towards the nearest market.
Haibi Village is 10 kilometers away from the town, so there is a commodity distribution market less than 2 kilometers away from the village.
There are one or two small shops near the port.
The others are all temporary stalls, and they change daily.
A dazzling array of goods, dusty streets, and haphazardly placed billboards everywhere.
Lin Ziyan entered the market and slowly pushed her bicycle.
She slowed her pace as she considered what she wanted to buy.
"Isn't that Lin Ziyan? Why is she at the market buying things at this hour?" Yang Yanzhou stopped in his tracks as he walked out of an outer shop.
"Could she have come with us?" Yang Yanzhou wondered, lifting his foot to follow, but his collar was grabbed.
"Don't cause trouble." Lu Yunshen frowned, took the things, and pulled the person away.
They were going to the port soon; the company had just bought a new ship, and the engine had broken down as soon as it set sail.
The manufacturer, however, insisted that they had deliberately damaged it and refused to send a technician over.
I'm so overwhelmed with problems right now, I don't have the energy to care about others.
Lin Ziyan did not see the two people. At this moment, she had already locked her bicycle and entered a store.
Upon entering the store, Lin Ziyan glanced indifferently at the rice cookers and water heaters marked with high prices, almost all of which were imported.
The proprietress had been observing her ever since she entered, her eyes filled with admiration.
Few people who enter her shop are not amazed.
This young girl looks young, but she's quite composed.
"Beautiful boss lady, do you have any molds here? I mean, the grid pattern."
Lin Ziyan asked a question, her watery eyes shining brightly, her face flushed from the sun.
The proprietress's eyes lit up. A beautiful woman?
She's been doing business here for a year, and this is the first time someone has addressed her like that.
"The young lady has a sweet tongue." The proprietress smiled, got off the high stool, put on her slippers, and walked inside.
Her steps were noticeably lighter, and she was humming a little tune.
Lin Ziyan looked at her,
She wore a dark red cheongsam that hugged her curvaceous figure, still exuding charm.
She thought to herself, "Even in her twilight years, a beauty is still a beauty..."
"Young lady, is this the one?" The proprietress handed her a bag and then sat back down on the high stool.
She took a pack of women's cigarettes from the drawer, put it in her mouth, and lit one.
"That's right, how much is this?" Lin Ziyan opened the packaging and examined it carefully.
She glanced at the English on the packaging, raised an eyebrow slightly, and realized it was an imported product.
"You're so sweet-talking, I'll give it to you." The proprietress smiled and smoothed her curly hair.
Those items were given away as a free gift when we purchased the goods.
She had worked as a waitress on a cruise ship abroad and knew that these could be made into small ice cubes, so she just took them back with her.
The girl in front of her caught her eye, and there was no disdain or discrimination in her gaze, but rather appreciation.
"No way, how could I take advantage of you?" Lin Ziyan chuckled, leaning against the cashier's counter.
This cash register is white and exquisitely crafted, like the modern kind.
Her eyes sparkled as she looked at the charming proprietress before her.
In this day and age, a woman who disregards societal norms and dresses like this to run a shop in the market deserves her special attention.
This unrestrained and carefree attitude is something Lin Ziyan longs for.
In her past life, she only occasionally visited night markets; the rest of the time she was in the lab, either drawing or doing other tedious work.
Having been given a second chance at life, she wants to live it a different way.
"Pfft!" The proprietress burst out laughing.
"Young lady, if you weren't a woman, I would have thought I'd run into a pervert."
Lin Ziyan, "..."
Okay, what she just said was indeed a bit ambiguous.
The proprietress stubbed out her cigarette, looking quite pleased, and stopped teasing her. "These were given away for free; nobody buys these these days."
"If I leave it here, it'll just gather dust. I'd rather you take it back; it might be useful."
Lin Ziyan nodded, went into the store, and selected a few items.
This store has everything, and you don't need a ticket to buy things. The only downside is that it's a bit expensive.
But you still need to buy sugar, because you need a lot of sugar to make lemonade.
"That's all." Lin Ziyan placed the items on the cashier's counter and fanned herself with a small booklet; it was just too hot.
The shop owner looked at what she had bought and seemed a little puzzled.
Transparent bags, straws, string, candy...
She glanced at it only once, tapping her calculator, a flicker in her eyes.
"From now on, call me Sister Fang, don't call me 'beauty' anymore." After calculating, the proprietress rounded down the price by 2 yuan, making it 10 yuan.
"My name is Lin Ziyan, from Haibi Village."
"Sister Fang, I'll come here often from now on." Lin Ziyan blinked, took a black plastic bag, and stuffed everything into it.
"Purple Smoke?"
"Sunlight shines on the incense burner, producing purple smoke..."
“Your parents must be well-educated.” Fang Jie’s gaze was distant, as if she were recalling something.
However, she quickly composed herself and returned to normal.
Lin Ziyan simply smiled and didn't say anything more.
Fang Jie must have a story; not many girls could go to school in those days.
…
After shopping, Lin Ziyan rushed home without stopping.
We also need to find saltpeter for making ice before dark.
Lin Ziyan bought a steamed bun casually for lunch and ate a few bites to get by.
After getting home and putting his things down, he ran out again.
By the time she found the item and rushed home, wisps of smoke were already rising from the kitchen roof.
The glow of the sunset reflected on the tiles, and wisps of white smoke rose up, creating a scene like an oil painting.
Just then, her stomach rumbled, and Lin Ziyan's lips twitched slightly; her stomach was rumbling.
