Grandpa He's loud shout came from the courtyard.
Grandma Lan put down the broom, picked up the watering can to water the flowers, and ignored him.
She studied abroad in her youth, learning warship design.
She later married He Zhou, thus avoiding the fate of the "number gang" era.
Many of her classmates perished as a result.
He Zhou is a submarine designer who is rarely home, but fortunately, he has a strong background and can protect her.
The two of them went to the research institute together and studied there for more than a decade. When they came out, the outside world had changed drastically.
"Qingyue, are you still angry?" Old Man He stepped forward, his form of address changing.
He could clearly sense that his wife was in a bad mood.
Are you thinking about the past again?
"No, you cook tonight, I'm going on strike for a day." Grandma Lan's ears turned red, and she glared at the old man.
The two of them are both elderly, yet they call each other so affectionately. What would their grandson think if he heard that?
Grandma Lan put her hands behind her back and went out again.
She wanted to go to Grandma Lin's house again for a chat and to pinch the soft, cuddly little girl, Jiaojiao.
Old Man He scratched his head, looking completely innocent. He was clearly angry, but he was still being stubborn...
Women are so hard to understand!
…
In the town,
Lin Ziyan delivered ice and chatted with the proprietress.
"Aunt Wang, do you know where I can buy shrimp larvae?"
After the two became acquainted, the proprietress directly asked her to change how she addressed her.
"They're not in town; you have to go to the county seat."
Lin Ziyan nodded and chatted with her for a few more minutes before leaving.
She went to the shrimp farm in the morning and found that all the shrimp larvae had been removed and the ponds had been washed clean.
She paid the workers their wages and locked the shrimp farm.
Lin Ziyan strolled along a street lined with stalls, slowly pushing her bicycle.
Some quick-thinking vendors were hawking their wares, creating a lively atmosphere.
It hasn't been long since individual businesses were allowed to operate, so many stall owners are still hesitant, sitting slumped to the side with their arms around their legs and looking down at their goods.
"Chen Shier, no one's going to buy your shrimp larvae, you might as well give them to me!"
"So, for 5 yuan, I'll buy them all."
A man wearing floral shorts, with a beer belly, said arrogantly.
Lin Ziyan stopped in her tracks, a glint of light flashing in her eyes.
Chen Twelve?
Isn't this the person who sold shrimp larvae listed in the original owner's father's account book?
"Get out!" Chen Shier shouted angrily, his head hanging low.
His face was flushed, the veins on his neck were bulging, and his hands were clenched into fists, clearly showing he was trying very hard to control himself.
Lin Ziyan squatted down, carefully examined the shrimp larvae, and her lips twitched.
It's the same fungal infection; spots are already visible on the shrimp larvae.
She looked at the seedlings priced for sale on the other side and shook her head.
These shrimp larvae are worth less than 5 yuan; she wouldn't want them even if they were given to her for free.
Lin Ziyan glanced at Chen Shier, who was sitting slumped to the side, smoking a pipe.
"That's him, surround him."
"My shrimp farm bought shrimp larvae from him, and all the larvae were infected with shrimp disease..."
A group of people surrounded the stall, holding wooden sticks in their hands.
Lin Ziyan broke free from the crowd, leaving no one to watch the spectacle.
She was puzzled, and judging from Chen Shier's expression, he didn't seem to know that there was a problem with the shrimp larvae.
Lin Ziyan rode her bicycle, thinking all the way, but couldn't come up with anything.
Once home, she didn't go out again, but sat in the yard peeling pumpkin seedlings.
Jiaojiao sat to one side, holding a white thread in her hand, with a frog tied to the other end.
“Qing…wa…” Jiaojiao squatted down and carefully reached out to touch its head.
"Quack!" "Quack!"
"Haha...hehe..." Jiaojiao laughed, her eyes curving like crescent moons.
Lin Ziyan watched her having fun and didn't stop her from repeatedly probing the frog with its legs tied.
Anyway, it can't escape the bright white line...
"Is Mrs. Lin home?"
Upon hearing the sound, Lin Ziyan's expression changed slightly, and she looked towards the door.
Wei Er walked in with a smile, carrying a can of malted milk powder and a small bag of sugar.
Grandma came out of the kitchen with a kitchen knife in her hand.
"Who's shouting? It's like calling for a soul!" Grandma's voice was full of energy, and the kitchen knife in her hand was stained with blood, which looked quite creepy.
Wei Er took a few steps back, his expression changed drastically, and he almost ran out the door.
Li Zhaodi, who came in later, immediately shouted: "Murder!!!"
Before she could run out the door, Wei Er stopped her.
"Who killed someone?" Lin Atai ran out with a kitchen knife in her hand, her eyes sharp.
When she saw Wei Sheng following behind Li Zhaodi, her grip on the knife hilt tightened.
"What are you doing with... that kitchen knife?" Li Zhaodi asked hesitantly, hiding behind Wei Er.
Wei Sheng stood at the door with his head hanging low, not daring to come in. The spot where Lin Ziyan had kicked him last time was still throbbing with pain.
"Kill the fish." Ah Tai looked at the three people at the door with a solemn expression.
Clang.
She threw the knife onto the stone table, making a piercing sound.
Wei Er's eyelids twitched, and he dared not meet A Tai's gaze.
"Grandma Lin, we've come to apologize with gifts. Please don't be angry."
Wei Er braced himself and placed the gift on the table.
Lin Ziyan looked at them suspiciously, waiting for them to continue.
"Apologize?"
"Is it because of the disturbance at the funeral hall, or because of that kid blocking my granddaughter at the village entrance?" Lin Atai asked coldly, hands on her hips.
Her gaze was like a knife, which made Wei Sheng quickly shrink his head back.
Li Zhaodi stepped forward, her squinting eyes trying to straighten, "My Shengzi didn't do anything like that, don't try to pin it on my son."
"Who knows who your granddaughter flirted with at the village entrance..."
