At this moment, the port
The masters gathered there looked at each other in bewilderment.
They are only responsible for repairing the ship and do not get involved in murder cases.
The bloodstains on the ship have been cleaned up, but a faint smell of blood can still be detected.
"Take a look at this engine."
"Under what conditions could such a result occur?"
"I'm serious," said Captain Chen of the police force, his expression grave.
A craftsman stepped forward, glanced at it, picked up his tools, and was about to check the model number.
"Wait!" Captain Chen suddenly shouted.
"Can't you scratch it yet?" The old craftsman looked at him, his hand holding the tools pausing for a moment.
"How can you tell the model number without scraping off a layer of black ash?" he continued to ask.
The others whispered among themselves, nodded, and agreed, "That's right, we at least need to know the model number."
Captain Chen thought for a moment, then waved his hand to let him continue.
Now we have no choice but to try anything, and just then the foreign chamber of commerce was involved. There was an accident at the port, and the higher-ups put pressure on us to solve the case within a limited time.
The experienced craftsman scraped open a spot with a tool, causing the pupil to constrict slightly.
Such an engine would not burn to the point of turning black under normal driving conditions.
"The engine burned out. The ship must have been pursued before the accident, and the captain must have been running at full speed to escape..." the old man said with a slightly serious expression. He put down his tools, flicked out his pipe, and lit it.
The other masters' expressions changed. Had they encountered pirates?
Captain Chen had guessed as well, and pressed his tongue against his back teeth. Now things were even more difficult.
Pirates have appeared in the waters off Fukushi City and have killed crew members.
This is an extremely serious incident and must be reported immediately!
"Let's pretend we don't know anything about tonight's events," Captain Chen said, striding towards the police car.
If this matter is not thoroughly investigated, the waters off Fukushi will never be peaceful again.
Captain Chen got into the car and immediately drove back to the station, where he dialed his superior's number.
…
A few days later, the foreign business summit in Fukushima officially began.
Huo Qizhen, also known as Boss Huo, had a meal with the guests and then decided not to participate any further.
He would like to spend his time in the restaurant drinking some ice-cold beer.
But not long after he returned to the hotel, a leader from the foreign business team came to visit him directly.
"Mr. Huo, are you shirking your responsibilities?"
Huo Qizhen's eyes flickered when he saw the person who had arrived.
This is Lin Shaowen, a big investor. If it's really about investing in port construction, this person has the greatest opportunity to invest.
"I came back to have some ice-cold beer. My stomach is protesting after drinking tea all day," Huo Qizhen said with a smile.
After Lin Shaowen sat down, he gave his secretary a wink.
It wasn't just the secretary; there was also a German translator from the government's investment promotion office.
"Mr. Huo, you've decorated this place very well," Lin Shaowen said after glancing at it.
Compared to the rigid decor of state-run hotels, this hotel appears much more luxurious.
Huo Qizhen lifted his eyelids slightly. "Mr. Lin, compared to star-rated hotels abroad, this is just so-so."
"Would you like an ice-cold beer?"
Lin Shaowen's smile widened. "Of course, I prefer beer to imported liquor."
The two then drank their ice-cold beer without discussing the foreign business association.
“Mr. Huo, I would like to visit the nearby fishing village. Don’t laugh at me, but I used to come from a fishing village. I stole drugs and went abroad, and that’s how I gradually made my way up.”
"I've come back now because I want to return to my roots and make a contribution to my hometown."
Lin Shaowen spoke earnestly and with a far-sighted vision.
The businessmen who came back with him were basically there to look for investment opportunities.
But he was different; he wanted to contribute to his hometown.
But now, he doesn't trust Director Luo of the investment promotion department.
“Sure, I do know of a fishing village that’s quite unique. I wonder if Mr. Lin has heard of it: Haibi Village?” Huo Qizhen said casually.
So far, of all the villages near the port, he has only visited Haibi Village.
Lin Shaowen's pupils contracted slightly. When he fled, he was washed ashore by the sea, and the family that took him in was from Haibi Village.
His name was given to him by that family.
"Have you been to Haibi Village?" Lin Shaowen asked anxiously, somewhat excitedly.
Huo Qizhen nodded. "This ice was bought from Haibi Village; it's edible ice."
"As you know, the water quality is currently unfiltered, so once it's made into ice, it's basically not safe to drink directly."
Lin Shaowen nodded, absentmindedly drinking his beer. He just wanted to go to Haibi Village for a walk; maybe he could run into an old friend.
"Tomorrow's itinerary is the port. Director Luo will take you there to see it, and then we'll go to Haibi Village together."
Huo Qizhen saw through his thoughts and simply went along with it and made a suggestion.
Lin Shaowen glanced at him and nodded.
He knew that there was no port on tomorrow's itinerary, but since Mr. Huo had said it, he would definitely go.
The two understood each other implicitly and did not break the silence.
As soon as Lin Shaowen left, Huo Qizhen immediately called the investment promotion department to tell them about the change of itinerary.
At first, Director Luo hesitated, but upon hearing Huo Qizhen's guess, he immediately changed his mind.
If, as Huo Qizhen said, Lin Shaowen has a special affection for Haibi Village, then a trip there is necessary.
The reconstruction of the port may depend on this old gentleman.
…
the next day,
All the port workers were present in the morning; those who were on vacation were recalled.
Today, city leaders will be coming down for an inspection, and foreign businesspeople will be visiting.
Old Wang leaned against a pillar, smoking and squinting.
Old Chen stretched out his arm, wanting to see what the foreign businessman looked like.
I heard he's tall with blue eyes and a high nose.
"Old Chen, stop swaying, I'm dizzy," Old Wang shouted. Seeing the guard captain arrive, he immediately became obedient, stubbed out his cigarette, and stood up straight.
He used to carry a gun and go to the battlefield, and even now that he's old, he still stands tall with his back straight.
"Old Wang, aren't you curious about what foreign businessmen look like?" Old Chen asked.
Captain Wade glanced at Old Chen, then looked towards the door as well.
One car after another drove in, followed by a police car, which shows how much importance the leaders attached to this visit by foreign businessmen.
"Curious? I've even fought with foreigners with bayonets!" Old Wang snorted, standing in his previous spot, not even looking at who got off the vehicle.
Director Luo took the lead in introducing the port's situation to the foreign businessmen.
Huo Qizhen and Lin Shaowen walked at the very back, chatting idly and occasionally glancing at the ships docked at the harbor.
"Mr. Huo, are we driving to Haibi Village alone?" Lin Shaowen asked nervously; the phrase "feeling apprehensive as one approaches home" perfectly described his current mood.
“We can go first.” Huo Qizhen smiled and glanced at Director Luo in front of him, who was giving a long and detailed introduction to the history of the port.
The accompanying German translator from the investment promotion department frowned slightly; he didn't want to go to the fishing village.
I've heard that the villagers in the fishing villages nowadays are all unruly.
"Go now?" Huo Qizhen noticed the translator's disdain, and a cold glint flashed in his eyes.
"Is it okay?" Lin Shaowen asked impatiently, his mind clearly no longer on the port.
"Of course," Huo Qizhen said with a smile, ignoring the translator's meaningful glances.
