Chapter 88 Who to Confess To?

After returning home,

After returning the red bucket, Lin Atai went home, took a shower, and used soap to wash away the smell completely.

When Ah Jian rushed back, he saw her sitting on a stone bench, eating sunflower seeds, chatting and laughing with the old lady next to her.

"Mother, isn't everything alright?" Ah Jian's lips twitched.

He smelled a strong disinfectant odor.

Aunt Huang, "Maybe he was just saying it, and didn't actually go?"

After confirming that he was alright, Ah Jian rode his bicycle back to the shrimp farm.

"Grandma, didn't you go to the Wei family?" Aunt Huang walked to the stone stool and sat down.

She breathed a sigh of relief, fearing that her grandmother would fight with her again if she went.

Grandma, "I came back right after I threw the excrement."

She continued eating her sunflower seeds and replied casually.

Aunt Huang, "..."

evening,

The sunset painted half the sky, and orange-red light climbed onto the rooftops, enveloping the entire Haibi Village.

Lin Ziyan rode her bicycle home and opened the door to find no one there.

She called out a few times and went into the kitchen, but still didn't see anyone.

Lin Ziyan locked the door and walked out of the yard, where she could still faintly smell the disinfectant.

She was just about to ask Aunt Huang next door.

"Ayan, hurry to the ancestral hall."

"Grandma and Li Zhaodi are fighting..." Aunt Chen shouted as she took off her apron.

Lin Ziyan paused for a few seconds, then turned and ran towards the ancestral hall.

When the two arrived at the ancestral hall, they saw a crowd gathered around, discussing the matter.

"That girl, Wei Er, has wasted all her education. How could she spread rumors in front of her sister-in-law?"

"I bet the Wei family talked a lot behind closed doors about wanting to marry Ayan. Otherwise, why would a young woman be talking about these things?"

"Wei Sheng's wife seems to have recovered from her madness..."

"She's no pushover either. She dared to throw two buckets of manure at the Lin family's doorstep. Does she think she's someone to be trifled with?"

"Li Zhaodi has met her match!"

"As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. This is a perfect match."

Lin Ziyan felt a throbbing pain in her temples.

Throwing excrement?

She pushed through the crowd and entered the ancestral hall.

The village party secretary and Grandpa Lin were both there, and almost everyone from Wei Er's family was present.

The patriarch of the Wei family was also present.

Li Zhaodi cursed, "When did my Xia ever say such a thing? You slut, you've only just entered the door and you're already causing trouble. I'll tear your mouth apart."

Li Qin grabbed Li Zhaodi's outstretched hand and said fiercely, "How did I know if she didn't tell me?"

"Wei Caixia, do you dare swear to your ancestors that you never said those words?"

Wei Caixia's eyes flickered, clearly feeling guilty, and she pursed her lips without answering.

Li Zhaodi stepped forward and pinched her arm, "Quickly say you didn't say that."

Wei Sheng hung his head and hid to the side without saying a word.

When we got home from work today, my whole family almost fainted on the spot.

The storefront was covered in sludge, and it was even semi-dried; the smell was enough to make you want to vomit.

"Speak quickly!" Li Zhaodi roared.

Her hair was a mess, and she looked like a madwoman.

Wei Caixia shrank back, not daring to speak.

"Grandma, what happened?" Lin Ziyan walked to Grandma's side and put her arm around her thin shoulders.

The aunt next to her, quick to speak, briefly explained the situation to Lin Ziyan.

When Li Qin saw Lin Ziyan, her gaze changed instantly. She pursed her lips and began to believe what Wei Caixia had said.

"So, she came to my house and threw excrement first, and Grandma just returned two buckets?" Lin Ziyan asked, pointing at Li Qin with a gloomy expression.

“That’s right!” the auntie said with certainty.

"Ah Yan, don't meddle in this, go home quickly," Lin Atai urged her to leave.

This is the Wei family ancestral hall. If something really happens, these people won't be enough to stop it.

At this moment, a group of people appeared at the entrance; they were all young men from the Lin Family Ancestral Hall.

Lin Ziyan looked towards the door and continued, "We're not in the wrong. The one who started it is the one who's at fault, so there's no need to hide."

The village party secretary's eye twitched slightly; he actually thought what he said made perfect sense.

"Then you can't just throw excrement at my doorstep. No one's leaving until you clean up the mess..."

Li Zhaodi stood with her hands on her hips and shouted loudly.

Lin Ziyan stepped forward and said, "Why don't we call the police and let them settle this?"

Li Qin clenched her hands tightly, not daring to utter a sound.

"Call the police? Are you crazy?" Li Zhaodi shouted again.

Finally, the village party secretary stepped in to mediate.

"The Lin family cleaned up the manure in front of their house themselves. You should also go back and clean yours. Let's just leave it at that."

“If they do anything to tarnish the village’s reputation again, the Wei family’s ancestral hall will be closed for a month, and the Wei family will not be allowed to go forward to pray for blessings in the village.” Secretary Qin’s eyes were sharp as he glanced at Wei Er.

In fishing villages, sealing off ancestral halls is a major event.

If the Wei family ancestral hall is sealed off because of the second Wei family, then if the Wei family has any problems in the future, the other members of the ancestral hall will definitely not help them, which is equivalent to being isolated.

Wei Er felt a chill run down his spine and quickly nodded, "Okay, this will never happen again."

Secretary Qin continued, "Also, your family should watch what you say. The village is about to build roads. If spreading such false rumors damages the village's image, then you shouldn't farm the village's fields anymore."

Li Zhaodi wanted to yell again, but was scared off by Wei Er's glare.

"Go home, isn't that embarrassing enough?" Wei Er threw down the words and walked out of the ancestral hall with his cheeks flushed red.

Li Qin turned pale with fright and almost collapsed to the ground.

She followed them out of the ancestral hall, turned a corner, and walked back home along the village path.

Wei Sheng watched her leave without catching up, feeling extremely frustrated.

Lin Atai straightened her back and walked out of the ancestral hall.
