When Lin Ziyan opened her eyes again, it was already dark outside.
She was stunned for several seconds, then felt her hand being grasped and moved slightly.
"Sister, you're finally awake..." Jiaojiao rubbed her eyes and smiled.
Lin Ziyan's lips twitched slightly, her throat was dry, and she couldn't speak.
Just as she was about to get up, Jiaojiao stopped her, saying, "I'll get you some water."
After saying that, Jiaojiao turned around, walked to the table next to her, grabbed her thermos, and ran back.
Lin Ziyan had already sat up, her fingertips rubbing the Buddhist prayer beads on her wrist.
"Sister, have some water." Jiaojiao put the water in her hand and then ran out of the room in a flash.
As Lin Ziyan watched her retreating figure, a sense of relief welled up within her.
She did go back, back to her original world.
With a sore nose, Lin Ziyan finished the water in her thermos before suppressing the tears in her eyes.
The mother should give birth to that child…
Lin Ziyan thought firmly, whether it was for her grandparents or for her father.
Before she could think any further, footsteps approached from outside the door.
"Ayan, you're finally awake." The chubby girl strode into the room.
Following behind were Grandma, Aunt Chen, Aunt Huang, and her two younger sisters.
The room was lit by a soft yellow light, which shone on everyone's faces as if they were covered with a halo.
A warm feeling welled up inside Lin Ziyan, and she said with a faint smile, "It's just a fever."
"Luckily, your fever subsided after taking the fever reducer, otherwise we would have had to find someone to take you to the county hospital," Aunt Chen said worriedly.
Having been in a coma all day, they were so frightened that they lost their composure.
Lin Atai sat on the rattan chair next to the bed, took her hand, and patted it.
Her gaze fell on the Buddhist prayer beads in Lin Ziyan's hand, then subtly shifted away.
Lin Ziyan turned to look at her grandmother, a complex light flickering in her eyes.
"After you recover, go to Dapu Temple to pray," Atai said softly, holding Lin Ziyan's hand.
The two aunts quickly chimed in, "We should indeed pay our respects."
The last few people left, leaving only her two younger sisters in the room with her.
After Lin Ziyan's fever subsided, she ate some porridge and her spirits are slowly recovering.
After her two younger sisters fell asleep at night, Lin Ziyan put on a coat and sat down at her desk to read.
She only turned on the desk lamp, and the incandescent light magnified her shadow, casting it on the wall.
Lin Ziyan took off her Buddhist prayer beads, put her hands together in her palms, and sincerely prayed for her former family members in her heart.
She can never go back; she's already dead in that world.
Lin Ziyan only hopes that her family can be safe, healthy, and happy.
Hopefully, the child who hasn't yet uttered a sound will bring smiles back to his parents' faces.
The fact that this string of prayer beads came here with her means that it has a spirit.
…
The next day, Lin Ziyan had fully recovered.
When Aunt Chen brought over the pickled vegetables, she remarked on how resilient young people are.
Grandma Lin just nodded and smiled, without saying anything more.
"Aunt Chen, I'll leave the shrimp paste factory to you for now. Have Brother Jian keep a close eye on the fresh shrimp." Lin Ziyan ate her pickled vegetable noodles in small bites.
The fresh shrimp will be loaded onto trucks in the next couple of days. This time, Zhang Xuefeng found the trucks, and it will take many days to deliver them to Beijing.
As for Boss Huo, he had already sent someone to pick up the goods.
Aunt Chen said, "Don't worry, Aunt Huang and I are keeping an eye on things."
"The accounts are all written down clearly, so you can rest for a couple more days without any problems."
Lin Ziyan smiled and nodded; she wasn't worried about that.
Thinking of the ledger, she thought of her father again; he had taught her all of this.
Even when she later went to university and was unwilling to take over the company and go into business, he did not blame her.
Parents who love their children plan far ahead for them.
Lin Ziyan thought to herself, perhaps this was another way out that her father had long ago thought of for her.
At that time, her father probably thought that if she went into the aquaculture industry after graduation, it would be of some use to her.
Lin Ziyan lowered her head and ate her noodles, her eyes reddening again.
Grandma said calmly, "Let's go to Dapu Temple to pray today, just to clear our minds."
"Mmm," Lin Ziyan replied, trying hard to control her emotions.
Jiaojiao's eyes lit up. "I want to go too!"
Lin Atai gently stroked her hair, the fine lines at the corners of her eyes deepening, and said with a faint smile, "Alright, you can go with your sister and Brother Yun Shen."
Lin Ziyan suddenly looked up at her grandmother, her eyes questioning her.
Grandma, "He'll be here in a bit, you can just go and have some fun."
The Dapuluo Temple is on the mountain, so it's a bit of a walk; it'll be good exercise.
Jiaojiao immediately spoke up, "I can walk."
She patted her legs with her little hands, as if afraid she wouldn't be able to play.
Lin Ziyan nodded and quickly finished the pickled vegetable noodles in her bowl.
She pulled Jiaojiao upstairs.
Now I'm changing my clothes and tying my hair up; the timing is just right.
If you want to climb the mountain, it's not advisable to go too late, as there's no cable car yet.
Finally, when we got into the car, there were two more people.
Lu Qiuying and Yang Yanzhou.
"Jiaojiao, let me hug you." Lu Qiuying reached out her hand as soon as she saw her.
She has never really liked children, except for Jiaojiao.
Yang Yanzhou, sitting in the passenger seat, saw Lu Qiuying's actions and his lips twitched slightly.
"Are you feeling better?" Lu Yunshen turned to ask Lin Ziyan.
She was wearing a light pink knitted vest today, which made her face look a little rosy.
"It's completely healed," Lin Ziyan said calmly, her voice distant and indifferent.
Lu Yun's heart skipped a beat. He saw the Buddhist prayer beads in her hand in the rearview mirror, and his eyes darkened.
Jiaojiao only let Lu Qiuying hug her for a short while before quietly sitting next to Lin Ziyan, holding her arm.
"Jiaojiao, are you hugging me so tightly because you're afraid I'll run away?" Lu Qiuying joked.
