"Wife, you're so generous," Dong Wei chuckled.
Yang Fei glared at the man and said, "It's your older sister who doesn't know what's good for her. It's not that I'm not generous, but she's always making excuses for us. We help her as if we owe her something, but she doesn't appreciate it at all. She always acts like she's done us a great favor. She doesn't get any benefit from it herself. If she hadn't taken over your mother's job, she would have had to go to the countryside. Besides, what does it have to do with me? It's like I owe her something too."
Dong Wei scratched his head and said, “When my older sister was doing well, she cared about me a lot. When we were laid off, she asked her husband to find us jobs. Now that things are worse, she feels a lot of disappointment. We shouldn’t be like her.”
"If she hadn't helped us back then, would I have put up with her for so many years? You're like someone who never learns from mistakes," Yang Fei cursed. She wasn't an ungrateful person, but she always felt indebted to her sister-in-law. Her sister-in-law acted like the mistress of the house whenever she came over, and she had been putting up with it all. If she hadn't emptied the family's savings this time, would she have left? There has to be a limit to helping others, right? They can't even make a living themselves.
"Don't be angry, honey. My older sister got divorced and moved away. She can't cause any more trouble. So please don't be angry," Dong Wei quickly coaxed his wife.
"Your niece is no pushover either. The way she treats us is even more arrogant than her mother. There's not a single good one in that family. No wonder Old Li's family won't let any of them in. They've seen through them all; they're a bunch of heartless bastards." Yang Fei looked down on Xiaoyuer even more. She always had a condescending attitude and no one knew where her sense of superiority came from.
Seeing his wife getting angrier the more she talked, Dong Wei quickly went inside to get the receipts, hoping that seeing some money would cheer her up.
Dong Wei opened the cabinet door, and the place where the receipts used to be was now empty.
"Hey, where did it go? I put it here!" Dong Wei rummaged through the things in the cabinet, but still couldn't find it.
Dong Wei immediately broke out in a sweat and emptied everything out of the cabinet, but there wasn't a single receipt.
He left it here, how did it disappear?
He then went to rummage through the bedside table.
Yang Fei walked into the room and saw the man rummaging through things haphazardly. "What are you looking for?"
"They're gone! All the receipts are gone!" Dong Wei's face turned pale. He pulled the bedding off the bed and wished he could crawl under the bed.
"Where did you put it? How could it be missing? Did you remember the wrong place?" Yang Fei helped to look for it.
"I was planning to get reimbursed tomorrow, so I put it by the wardrobe door. How come it's gone?" Dong Wei pointed at the wardrobe, his heart pounding.
“That thing can’t grow legs and run away by itself. When we came back, the front door was locked properly. Did your older sister come back and steal it?” Yang Fei immediately suspected Dong Yun.
Dong Wei: "That can't be, my second sister and I didn't tell my eldest sister about reimbursement."
“Only your older sister has a key to our house. When we came back, the lock was secure. That thing is only useful to your older sister; no one else can use it. No one else can,” Yang Fei said confidently.
