Chapter 1060 Finding Work (1/2)

“How will you go to school if you stay here with me? My emotions are unstable, and if I have an episode, I might hurt someone.” Li Xingguo is too busy taking care of himself right now and doesn’t want to take Xiaoyuer with him.

Even if he went home, he didn't want to take the child with him. The child was selfish and his parents didn't like him, and he didn't want to become an obstacle to going home.

"Dad, what are you doing here? Take me back to the city with you. Let's live with Grandpa and Grandma. We're homeless, so Grandpa and Grandma should take us in. You're their son, and I'm their granddaughter. We should be together." Of course, Xiaoyuer didn't want to live in this poor, remote place. She followed Li Xingguo because she wanted to go back to the Li family and be with her grandparents.

Li Xingguo smiled, thinking, "She's just as stupid as he and Dong Yun's daughter."

"I can't go back. If your grandparents want you to stay, then you should go back by yourself."

Little fish...

“Dad, why can’t you go back? With you like this, Grandpa and Grandma should be taking care of us.”

Li Xingguo waved his hand and said, "If you want to stay, then stay here. If you don't want to stay, then figure it out yourself."

After saying that, he turned and went inside.

Xiaoyuer looked at Dong Yun, who had disappeared, and then looked into the house. She stomped her feet in anger. If she left with her mother, she would have nowhere to stay. If she stayed with her father, she would not be able to go to school. What was she going to do?

In the end, she stayed. Dong Yun had no job, no money, nothing. Her life seemed hopeless, and she endured endless hardship with her mother.

Her dad at least has a salary, and given his personality, he definitely won't stay here for long; he'll definitely go home.

Little Fish entered the house and stood obediently beside Li Xingguo. "Dad, I'll stay here to take care of you. I'll ask for leave from school first. I'll go back to school when we get back to the city. I'll study at home for now."

Li Xingguo smiled and said nothing more, "Go live in the west room."

"Dad, I haven't eaten yet. My second aunt kicked me out this morning, and I haven't eaten lunch or dinner either."

Li Xingguo: "There are noodles in the outer room and firewood outside. If you get hungry, just make something for yourself."

Little Fish twisted the hem of her clothes and said, "Dad, I can't."

Li Xingguo smirked, "Didn't you say you were going to take care of me? How can you take care of me if you can't cook? You want me, a patient, to take care of you if you stay? Do you want to be waited on hand and foot? I advise you to go back to your mother. I'm struggling to survive on my own, I can't take care of you."

"Dad, you've never made me do these things before."

“So much trouble has happened in the family, and you still haven’t faced reality. Your mother has protected you too well. I’ve never done that before. Are you just waiting to starve to death? You’re not expecting me, a sick person, to take care of you, are you?” Li Xingguo’s expression was very indifferent, showing no trace of the loving father he used to be.

"Dad, can I start learning tomorrow? I'm so hungry today that I have no energy left," Xiaoyuer said pitifully to Li Xingguo.

Li Xingguo: "You won't be hungry if you're asleep, go to sleep early."

Xiaoyuer stared blankly at Li Xingguo. Was this really her father? How could someone with a 37-degree mouth utter such cold words?

Li Xingguo: "Why are you looking at me? If you don't want to do anything yourself, then stay with your mother. Your mother is really good to you. No matter how hard life is, she always pampers you and you don't have to do anything. It's not wrong for you to want a good life at your age, but you also have to face reality and weigh the pros and cons. I can't go back to your grandparents' place, so staying with me won't do you any good. You might as well stay with your mother and focus on your studies."

"Dad, you've changed. You don't love me anymore!" Little Fish cried, covering her face as she went to the west room. The west room only had a kang (a heated brick bed), and there wasn't even a quilt. Little Fish cried even louder with her mouth wide open.

Li Xingguo frowned irritably. "If you don't want to stay, go find your mother. Don't whine in front of me."

Little Fish covered her mouth, tears streaming down her face. She couldn't understand why her father had become like this; her father loved her the most.

Dong Yun ran out of the village with tears streaming down her face, falling several times. The road was pitch black, without even a streetlamp.

Dong Yun sat by the roadside, wailing loudly. Her heart was breaking, completely cold. She wished she could give her life for her daughter, yet her daughter treated her like this.

The sound of crying carried by the wind back to the village. Several families at the village entrance, hearing the commotion, were so frightened that they huddled under their blankets, too afraid to move.
