Young Master Bai patted Xingping on the shoulder. "Don't regret it. If you don't do it, you'll always feel bad. If you do it, you'll have peace of mind." The seeds of doubt have been sown, and they must be proven, or it will be a problem for the rest of your life.
Xingping nodded, made a phone call home, and then went to school to study.
Li Hang went to find his mother.
Xingping's ex-wife saw her son had come again and asked, "How was it, son? What did your father say?"
Remembering Li Mantun's words that one should think things through before acting, Li Hang didn't tell his mother about the paternity test. If he did, his mother would make a huge scene, and his parents could forget about remarrying. He didn't want to escalate the conflict between his parents any further.
"My dad didn't say much; he's busy working. My grandpa's just getting better; we'll talk about it later."
Xingping's ex-wife thought it was fine, as long as Xingping didn't get married, she and her son could coax him slowly.
Two days felt like twenty years to the Li family. Li Mantun and Liu Cuihua didn't sleep for two nights, and their mouths were covered in blisters. They had never thought about this before, but now that they were thinking about it, they felt that something was wrong. They just hoped that they were overthinking and had gone crazy.
On the third day, Xingping woke up early with dark circles under his eyes; they were under a lot of pressure because of this.
The old man got up early, dressed, and sat in the living room leaning on his cane.
"Dad, are you going too?" Li Mancang asked.
The old man nodded. "I'm going out for a stroll. It's been quite a while since I've been out and about."
The second son and Chunni didn't go to the farm today either; they went to the testing center together.
Xingping received the results, his palms sweating, and he hesitated to open the file folder.
"You're just overthinking it. See, it's nothing," the second brother comforted him.
The Li family members all stared intently at the bag.
Xingping opened the bag with trembling hands and took out the appraisal report inside.
The report was six or seven pages long. The first page was the cover, which read "Parental Rights Test Report".
Xingsong's fingers were shaking so badly that he tried to flip the page, but he couldn't open it for a long time.
"Just look at the conclusion on the last page," Young Master Bai said casually.
Xingping still can't turn things around.
Li Mantun snatched it away, displeased. "What are you shaking for? Don't you know whether it's your seed or not? Why do you have to make such a fuss?"
Li Mantun frowned and flipped directly to the last page, where Liu Cuihua was also staring nervously at the conclusion.
[Of the 21 STR genes tested, X genes between Li Xingping and Li Hang did not conform to the laws of inheritance, therefore a biological parent-child relationship between Li Xingping and Li Hang is excluded.]
"What does this mean?" Li Mantun's voice trembled.
Xingping stood beside Li Mantun, watching intently with his eyes tightly closed.
"What does 'exclude' mean?" Liu Cuihua's facial muscles twitched uncontrollably.
They all understood what it meant, but they couldn't believe it. Sixteen years! A full sixteen years! Who could believe that?
"Give it to me!" The old man stretched out his hand.
Li Mantun trembled all over as he handed the report in his hand to the old man.
The old man couldn't see clearly and asked Young Master Bai, "What does it say here? Is he not my biological son?"
Young Master Bai swallowed hard and nodded with difficulty. To be honest, he hadn't expected it to turn out this way.
The second child also rushed over to see, and his head was spinning when he saw it.
"Bitch! Bitch! I'm going to kill her!" Xingping ran outside like a madman.
The second brother and Young Master Bai, hurry up and give chase! This could be a fatal incident!
