Fortunately, the old man has no descendants. If he wants Old Man Guan to give his child willingly, he can only be as filial to him as his own son, no, even more filial than his own son.
Once he made up his mind, Changshun was incredibly filial to Old Man Guan. He fed him, wiped his body, massaged him, and even took care of his bodily needs while always smiling. He would buy whatever Old Man Guan wanted to eat without any impatience. No filial son or grandson could compare to him.
The old lady was gentle and considerate to Old Man Guan, always caring about him and serving him attentively every day.
Old Man Guan was very satisfied. With just a glance, someone would serve him tea and water, which was even better than his own servants. His life had really improved, and he had rediscovered the feeling of being a master. These servants were free, no, they even paid him money.
Li Mancang or Lao San would come to check on him every day, fearing that Old Man Guan had been harmed.
However, seeing how radiant Old Man Guan looked these past few days, and how attentively and thoughtfully his wife and stepson were taking care of him, both of them admired him immensely. When it came to scheming, Old Man Guan was the grandmaster.
Old Man Guan glanced at the two of them sideways, saying, "When you encounter a problem, solve it. Don't always think about running away. Adults need to have the ability to solve problems. These two still have a lot to learn."
Before she knew it, it was the weekend. At noon, Xiaoyu was packing her things in the dormitory. After class in the afternoon, she went straight home. She was supposed to go back last week, but the roads were slippery due to heavy snow, and Wu Zhiqi said it wasn't safe and didn't let her go back.
"Guan Xiaoyu, someone is looking for you at the school gate," the dormitory supervisor called out in the hallway.
Xiaoyu glanced at her phone; no one was calling her. Her family always called when they needed to reach her.
She poked her head out of the dormitory and asked, "Teacher, who's looking for me?"
The security guard said they were your parents.
Xiaoyu was puzzled. She was going back soon, so why were her parents coming? And why didn't they call before they arrived?
After putting on her cotton-padded coat, Xiaoyu jogged to the front gate.
Xiaoyu looked around at the gate but didn't see Li Mancang or Wu Zhiqi. Didn't they say their parents were coming? Why couldn't she see them?
Xiaoyu took out her phone to call Wu Zhiqi.
A woman, bundled up tightly, ran over from the sheltered spot at the entrance of "Xiaoyu" gate, followed by several other people.
Xiaoyu looked in the direction of the sound and frowned.
The woman ran over and reached out to grab Xiaoyu's hand. Xiaoyu quickly took a few steps back and looked warily at the four people running towards her.
The woman wiped her eyes and sniffled back. "Xiaoyu, I'm your second sister, your own second sister. These are our parents, and our little sister..."
Xiaoyu looked at the group of people and took a few steps back. "You've mistaken me for someone else. I don't know you."
“Xiaoyu…, I’m your mother,” a middle-aged woman said, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Girl!" the middle-aged man shouted with a sob.
"Third sister," a girl of seventeen or eighteen years old shouted.
"I don't know you, you've mistaken me for someone else," Xiaoyu said, and walked towards the school gate.
The woman called Second Sister grabbed Xiaoyu's arm urgently, "Third Sister, don't go! We haven't mistaken you for someone else. We are your family. You are our child, really. Look at Mom, you look so much like her. When you were little, our family was poor, and we had no choice but to give you away. Mom and Dad were very reluctant to part with you. They have thought about you every day all these years and cried every day at home."
Xiaoyu shook off the woman's arm. "After crying for so many years, your eyesight is still so good. That's quite rare."
