"It's moving; quite a bit has been moved," Wu Zhiqi said calmly.
Fenglan: "That's good. Grandpa and Grandma, you can move too. Mom and Dad, where are you planning to move to? Are you going back to the big house?"
“No, we’re not coming back. The big house is rented out, and we’ve bought another house. You’re back because you need something?” Wu Zhiqi didn’t want to beat around the bush anymore.
Fenglan smiled ingratiatingly, "Mom, do you have the property certificate for my house?"
"Your house? Which one?" Wu Zhiqi asked knowingly.
“It’s that little courtyard in the back, the one you helped me buy back then,” Fenglan pointed to the alley behind, the one that was bought with her father’s pension.
Wu Zhiqi: "Those are houses, bought with his father's pension, registered in her name. When did they become yours?"
“Mom, it was only registered under Manman’s name at the time, but it’s still mine,” Fenglan said, keeping her head down and not daring to look up at Wu Zhiqi.
"So you're thinking of taking over that house now?" Wu Zhiqi asked bluntly.
"Mom, I have no choice. Our family has nowhere to live and we're still renting. This house is going to be demolished. Mom, I only want half of it. Just enough to buy a small house so I can have a place to live." Fenglan's tears fell one after another, and she spoke pitifully.
"Eldest sister, a woman marries to be fed and clothed. You are supporting the Song family of three by yourself. If you are willing, we can't interfere. But you want to fill the Song family with all your possessions, eldest sister, what are you thinking?" The second brother couldn't help but ask.
“How can that house be considered full of things? It’s mine,” Fenglan said to her second son with a somewhat assertive tone.
"Yours? That was bought with Manman's father's pension. It was for Manman. The army arranged a job for you back then, and you're receiving a pension now, so how can it be yours?" Wu Zhiqi asked rhetorically.
Fenglan looked at Wu Zhiqi with teary eyes, "Mom, we're doing so well at home, how can you bear to see me living like this? I didn't take anything from the family, I just want what's mine, is that not enough?"
Wu Zhiqi was so angry that her heart ached. "You brought this on yourself. You had to jump into that fire pit with the Song family. Who could stop you? And you expect our family to support the Song father and son for you before we're even helping you?"
Over the years, Fenglan has taken care of the elderly couple in the Song family until they passed away. Song Shiyu and his son have not done anything serious in recent years. The family relies entirely on Fenglan to earn money to support them. Both sons are over thirty years old and still have not started their own families.
“Shiyu may not have money, but she’s been good to me. The kids are all over thirty. Without a house, they can’t find partners. Mom, just give me this house. I won’t fight with Manman for the house that Dad left.” Fenglan pleaded.
Li Mancang slammed his hand on the table. "You're trying to steal your stepdaughter's house for your two stepsons? Is this something a mother would do? Where's your brain? Did you feed it to the dogs?"
Everyone in the room stared at Fenglan in disbelief; this was something a human being could do.
Fenglan sobbed, "Dad, I had no choice. Even though I'm their stepson, they all treat me like their own mother. How could I not think about them?"
Li Mancang clutched his chest. "Treat you like your own mother? Treat you like a maid. Do you think I don't know that you support the father and his two sons all by yourself? I can't control how you plan for them, but don't even think about coveting Manman's things."
"Dad, I've moved so many times over the years. I just want a stable home. Why can't I have one?" Fenglan cried, her voice trembling.
“Your own home depends on your own hard work. Stop thinking about all that stuff and get out,” Wu Zhiqi said, pointing to the door.
Fenglan: "Mom, that house is mine. I just want my own things."
"Then go ahead and sue, go ahead and file a lawsuit. If the court rules in your favor, then you get it. Otherwise, forget about it!" Wu Zhiqi slammed his hand on the table and stood up.
“Li Fenglan, don’t try to use your pitiful state to blackmail us. Manman is not owed anything to you, and we don’t owe you anything. We raised Manman to go to school and educate him. Don’t feel wronged because you raised the child alone. We told you to find someone, but you didn’t. You didn’t even worry about the child’s schooling or life. You have no reason to feel wronged. Nobody owes you anything.”
