"Whether you believe it or not, just say so," Li Mancang said in a deep voice.
The third brother said, "Okay, it's just a phone call, it's not much trouble. But Li Xingguo is really willing to spend money, he's really generous to his children. The three of us don't even spend as much as one of his children."
Li Mancang said, "If they're willing to invest in their kids, let them spend it. It's not our money anyway, and you're not short of funds. Let the three kids go to whichever international school they want."
“Grandpa, I’m not going. I haven’t even mastered Chinese yet, and English sounds like gibberish to me. I’ve never passed an English class,” Yuanyuan immediately objected.
"You didn't pass? You didn't even pass halfway," Yoyo said, stabbing him in the back.
"I am Chinese, I don't learn foreign languages, I'm doing this out of patriotism," Yuan Yuan said emphatically.
"I don't think you passed Chinese either," Tuantuan added.
The third brother gave Yuanyuan a slap on the neck, saying, "You good-for-nothing, you just go around with your big, fat belly all day, you can't learn anything."
Yuanyuan clutched her neck with one hand and her head with the other, exclaiming, "Oh my god, my head hurts! Someone must have stolen my wisdom!"
This made Li Mancang and Wu Zhiqi laugh out loud. This kid isn't good at studying, but he's a real joker.
The next day, Li Xingguo called the old man early in the morning.
The old man looked at the phone screen. "Old woman, can you see if this is a call from Xingguo?" The old man's eyesight was failing, and he couldn't see clearly.
"Who cares who it is? Just answer the phone. What are you afraid of?" The old lady couldn't see clearly either.
"With caller ID, wouldn't it be a waste of money if you didn't see it? You probably can't see it either, but you're just being stubborn." The old man put the phone aside and started looking for his reading glasses.
“I can see birds two miles away with my eyesight, what do you mean I can’t see? I’m two years younger than you,” the old lady said defiantly.
"You're young, so you'll live a few more years than me."
The nanny heard the phone ring and quickly put down what she was doing to come inside. "The old man's phone is ringing."
"I heard it, I'll get my reading glasses and see who it is." The phone rang for the third time.
The caregiver handed the phone to the old man. "It's Li Xingguo."
"Young people have sharper eyesight. Where did my reading glasses go? Can you help me find them?"
"I've put your reading glasses on the windowsill; let me get them for you."
The old man put on his reading glasses, held up his phone, and it was indeed Li Xingguo.
"If it's something urgent, I'd be worried sick waiting for you to answer the phone," the old lady said irritably.
"What important business could he possibly have? Don't you know what kind of person he is? What good would it do to call me if it were an emergency? I'm practically a coffin already." The old man slowly answered the phone.
Li Xingguo had already called six times; he knew the old man was a little hard of hearing.
"Sir, what are you doing?" Li Xingguo shouted at the top of his lungs.
The old man moved the phone away from his ear and said, "Why are you shouting so loudly? You're going to deafen me."
Li Xingguo...
"Grandpa, you and Grandma live in the suburbs. How about I bring you and Grandma to stay with me for a while? My house is spacious and quiet, and Dong Yun doesn't have to work, so she can take care of you when she has time."
The old man exclaimed, "Huh? What did you say?"
“I said…” Li Xingguo shouted again.
