"That's a good idea. I bet by the time they get the money, the old lady will be dead," Sanbao sneered from among the onlookers.
Everyone laughed sarcastically, as if Zhou Changshun's abacus beads had fallen right into their faces.
Zhou Changshun's face was full of bitterness. "It's all my fault. All my salary over the years has gone to support my parents... Dad, have you forgotten about your savings or something?"
Old Man Guan looked bewildered. "I have savings?"
Zhou Changshun nodded quickly, the old lady had said she had seen the bank card passbook.
"I forgot? I only remember that I had a famine," Old Man Guan said blankly, looking at Zhou Changshun.
“You’re rich, my mom said she saw a bankbook at home, maybe you put it somewhere and forgot about it,” Zhou Changshun glanced at Xiaoyu.
Xiaoyu said calmly, "Host, could you help me check if my grandfather has any savings or anything like that?"
"Sure, sure, I'll call the bank right away. If the old man really has savings in his name, then this matter will be simple." The host took out his phone and made the call, demonstrating his expertise in this process.
When the call connected, Mr. Guan gave his personal information. A few seconds later, the customer service representative replied that Mr. Guan did not have a single penny in his account.
Zhou Changshun looked at Old Man Guan in disbelief, "Xiaoyu, Dad's money didn't all get transferred to your name like the house, did it?"
The host also looked at Xiaoyu.
Xiaoyu laughed. She was still thinking about how to end this, but Zhou Changshun came to her in a hurry. "Then check mine, Uncle Zhou. And check yours too, my grandma, my aunt, and your son's. Check them all."
Zhou Changshun… “I really didn’t…”
"Why don't you just check?" Xiaoyu interrupted Zhou Changshun, gave him her personal information, and a few seconds later, she had more than two thousand yuan in her account.
"Uncle Zhou, I'll go withdraw the two thousand yuan for you right away. Now it's your turn."
How could Zhou Changshun possibly be investigating himself? He wants to investigate the old man and Xiaoyu.
"No need, Dad. Don't you know me after all these years?"
Old Man Guan nodded. "I know about these past few years."
Zhou Changshun breathed a sigh of relief.
Old Man Guan continued, "But I didn't know that before. Check it out, and also your mother's, your wife's, and your son's records. Check them all, just in case we forgot after saving them."
Zhou Changshun...who could forget about saving money?
Old Man Guan's eyes turned cold. "You just finished talking about me, and you've already forgotten?"
"I remember Changshun and my wife's ID numbers," Old Guan said eagerly, reciting both of their ID numbers.
Zhou Changshun's facial muscles twitched several times; he hadn't expected that this old man knew his ID number.
A few seconds later, the customer service representative announced Zhou Changshun's deposit amount: 25,000 yuan in fixed deposits.
The way the host looked at Zhou Changshun changed.
The onlookers looked at Zhou Changshun with disdain. His own mother was in critical condition inside, and he had money but didn't take it, instead trying to squeeze money out of the old man and granddaughter from the TV station. Was he even human?
"I don't have enough money, so I'm thinking of asking Dad and Xiaoyu to chip in," Zhou Changshun explained dryly.
The onlookers rolled their eyes in unison. Did they think they were some kind of idiot? You just kept saying you had no money and couldn't think of any solutions.
