As expected, Xingsong's wife answered the phone.
Hearing Xingping's wife's whiny chatter, Xingsong's wife felt delighted.
"Oh my, isn't this my former sister-in-law? What's up? Changed your phone number and even told me? You're too kind. I don't want your number lying around in my contacts; it's disgusting."
Xingsong's wife, suppressing her anger, handed the phone to Li Hang.
"Auntie, this is Li Hang. Which hospital is my grandfather in?"
"What, you're going to chase your grandpa to the hospital if you haven't already angered him to death?" Xingsong's wife's words were infuriating.
"How can you talk to a child like that? Can't you speak like a human being?" Xingping's ex-wife couldn't help but retort.
Xingsong's wife: "I speak human language to humans, ghost language to ghosts, and slut language to sluts. I treat each type of person differently."
Xingping's ex-wife: "You're acting like an old woman. You say all sorts of things in front of the children without any shame. You don't act like an elder at all."
"The old sow isn't giving birth, that's so great! You're a kept woman, and you still complain about how I'm talking? When you did that, didn't you feel ashamed? Everyone in the village, from the ninety-nine-year-old to the toddler, knows about it. Does your son not know that you're having an affair?"
Are you afraid I'll say something, or that you'll find my words offensive? Why did you call me? You're just asking for trouble, aren't you? You're like a skinned toad, disgusting when alive, and scary even when dead.
"I'm taking care of my father-in-law in the hospital. Your son almost drove me to my death. Your son is quite the filial son." After saying this, Xing Song's wife slammed down the phone.
Xingping's ex-wife...
Li Hang...
Xingsong's wife was gloating. Now that Li Hang's mother was gone, his parents treated him better than the other children. He even went to a private school, a privilege none of the other families had. His mother-in-law took care of everything he ate, wore, and used. She was incredibly jealous.
That idiot even encouraged Li Hang to go against his parents-in-law. Seriously, you couldn't find such an idiot even in a museum.
Li Hang is not a child anymore, yet he's still so foolish. For his slutty mother, he's like a turtle eating a tortoise, completely disregarding his own family.
Her mother-in-law was such a vengeful person that she almost drove the old man to his death. If her mother-in-law didn't skin her former sister-in-law alive, she would be at a disadvantage.
"Mom, what should we do?" Li Hang asked.
Xingping's wife suppressed her anger, "I'll call your uncle tonight. He can tell you to stay away from your third aunt's family from now on. There aren't any good people in that family. Haven't eaten yet? I'll buy some instant noodles and cook them for you when I get back, and I'll also make you two poached eggs."
Li Hang clutched his stomach; he was indeed hungry.
That evening, Xinghu received a call from Li Hang, who asked which hospital Li Mantun was in.
Before Xinghu could speak, his wife took the phone and said, "Your grandpa is at the People's Hospital," before hanging up.
Xinghu looked at his wife and said, "Dad's home already, why are you bothering Li Hang?"
Li Mantun's blood pressure came down, and he went home in the afternoon.
“Your dad got so angry he was hospitalized, and we all went to make the trip. Why shouldn’t he, the culprit, go? He got off easy by making the trip for nothing. Your mother is the most biased. She used to favor the fourth son, and now she favors the fourth son’s child…” Xinghu’s wife rambled on, expressing her dissatisfaction.
Xinghu's temples throbbed. Whenever his family was involved, his wife's mouth would start churning like a machine gun, complaining endlessly.
Xingping's wife took Li Hang to the hospital and waited at the door. She knew her place and didn't dare go in. If Liu Cuihua saw her, she would tear her apart. How could she not anger the old woman to death?
Li Hang went to the hospital and asked around before he learned that Li Mantun had already been discharged.
Xingping's ex-wife was furious. Wasn't he supposed to have almost died from a heart attack and be in the intensive care unit? How come he went home in the afternoon? Was this family just playing with them?
I frantically called Xinghu, but his phone was switched off.
Xingping's ex-wife called him again, but Xingping didn't answer at all.
