Chapter 21 Not Understanding People's Hearts
Both of them breathed a sigh of relief, finally able to put down their burdens.
Before long, the train slowly started moving, and the train body swayed slightly.
The wheels made a clanging sound as they began to move forward on the tracks.
The two didn't talk much along the way, each watching the scenery flash by outside the window.
The fields outside the window stretched as far as the eye could see, with the occasional bird flitting past the shadow of a telephone pole.
The journey had just begun, and Zhou Shufen felt there was something she needed to bring up as soon as possible.
After a long silence, she spoke: "Guifang, actually, I've always wanted to apologize to you. I misjudged you before, and I was too hard-hearted. I wasn't good to you and Haiqing. This time, I've also been hurt and have come to see many things more clearly."
Zhou Shufen was speaking from the heart.
She didn't expect that just one sentence would make Qin Guifang let go of the grievances that had accumulated over the years.
But she knew that these words would eventually have to be said.
Unexpectedly, Qin Guifang simply waved her hand lightly.
“Mom, I really wasn’t angry. You also have your own hardships and misunderstandings. Life is lived step by step, and the past is the past. I’m already very happy that you’re so open-minded now.”
She is not someone who gets angry easily.
But that doesn't mean she doesn't understand people's hearts.
"Then I'm relieved."
Zhou Shufen nodded, smiled gently, and didn't say anything more.
She knew that some things were best left unsaid; saying more would be superfluous.
It's easy to get sleepy when sitting on a train.
Zhou Shufen leaned back in her chair, tilted her head slightly to one side, and squinted her eyes. Before long, she fell into a light sleep.
The fatigue of the journey made her breathing long and deep.
She was awakened by a commotion next to her.
Some people gasped in surprise, while others shouted something hastily.
The moment she opened her eyes, her head was still a little dizzy.
"What's wrong? Could it be that he's having a relapse?"
One person said nervously.
"She seemed perfectly fine just now, walking steadily. How could she suddenly faint?"
Another person was whispering among themselves.
"Is there a doctor in the car? Someone come quickly and take a look!"
Others were shouting anxiously, their voices somewhat panicked.
Zhou Shufen opened her eyes half asleep, rubbed her blurry eyes, and looked in the direction of the sound.
She saw that the first few rows of seats were already surrounded by a group of people.
Three or four people were craning their necks, each with a different expression.
Some people were tiptoeing to peek inside, while others were frowning and whispering among themselves.
Through the gap, one could vaguely see a person lying motionless on the ground.
No one was making a noticeable approach; everyone seemed to be waiting for the professionals to arrive.
The man was well-dressed and didn't look like an ordinary passenger.
"Guifang, what happened over there?"
Zhou Shufen immediately came to her senses, reached out and tugged at Qin Guifang beside her, and hurriedly asked.
"It looks like someone has fainted," Qin Guifang said, who had been sitting nearby watching over their belongings and hadn't gone over to see what was happening. "When people started calling out, everyone gathered around, but no one dared to get too close."
"Oh? Let's go take a look then."
As Zhou Shufen spoke, she stood up and straightened her clothes.
"Maybe we can be of some help."
She has always been a warm-hearted person in life.
It was precisely because of this personality that she was very popular with her coworkers when she worked in the factory.
Everyone speaks highly of her, thinking she has a kind heart.
"good."
Qin Guifang nodded in agreement, stood up, and squeezed forward with Zhou Shufen.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law carefully moved forward through the crowd, saying softly, "Excuse me, thank you."
Finally, they reached the front row.
Seeing that a clearing had been cleared out, the crowd made way for them.
The person lying down was a middle-aged noblewoman, dressed elegantly with neatly styled hair.
She possesses an indescribable sense of refinement.
But at this moment, her face was pale, her lips were white, and fine beads of sweat kept appearing on her forehead. Her eyes were tightly closed.
"Is this...low blood sugar?"
Zhou Shufen was startled and immediately thought of how many of the fainting people she had seen were due to low blood sugar.
She had no medical knowledge.
But in such situations, all you can do is try your best to help out in any way you can.
The lady appeared somewhat lonely, as she was not accompanied by any family members.
This made Zhou Shufen feel sympathy.
She quickly pulled out a piece of candy that she usually liked from her pocket.
He stepped forward, gently helped the person up a little, and then put the candy into her mouth.
She thought that if it really was low blood sugar, eating some sugar should relieve it.
Even if it isn't, doing this won't cause any problems.
She moved gently, observing the person's expression as she worked.
"Hey, what did you feed her? You don't know what's going on, don't do anything rash!"
“Yes,” another middle-aged man chimed in, frowning. “She just collapsed suddenly; there might be something serious wrong. What if something happens if you feed her like this?”
"Be careful, it's best to call the train conductor as soon as possible and wait for the train to stop before saying anything."
Some people nearby shouted anxiously, while others offered suggestions.
"This person suddenly collapsed, and we don't know what happened. We need to find someone to handle it quickly."
"It's okay, I think she has low blood sugar."
Zhou Shufen waved her hand.
"Don't panic, don't touch her yet. I brought some candy, let's try it first."
Before long, the candy took effect, and the noblewoman opened her eyes.
Although she was weak while lying there, she was not completely unconscious.
She could hear every conversation around her clearly.
She slowly raised her hand and grasped Zhou Shufen's hand, her voice hoarse and strained as she said, "Thank you for saving me... If it weren't for you, I really... I really don't know what would have happened."
However, she didn't seem to be in good condition; her complexion had only improved slightly.
She was still weak and powerless.
"Guifang, come and help me get her to her seat."
Zhou Shufen greeted them.
"Come on, take it slow, be careful with her head."
The two of them worked together to carefully help her up and slowly guide her to her seat.
The woman sat down and immediately leaned back.
He leaned back in his seat, his face still as pale as paper, his eyes unfocused, and he closed them wearily.
"Don't be afraid. When the train arrives at the station, we'll take you to the hospital to get checked out."
While comforting her, Zhou Shufen carefully observed her condition.
She thought to herself, "Since I've decided to help, I must help to the very end."
"Thank you so much. It's really my luck to have met you today."
The noblewoman was filled with gratitude, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Don't thank me, you should rest first."
Zhou Shufen smiled, gently patted the woman's hand, and spoke in a soft tone.
"Maintaining good mental health is the most important thing."
The train continued on its way.
The wheels made a steady rumble as they hit the tracks.
