Chapter 68: Turning the Tide
There was only one goal—to completely turn Zhou Shufen's money into theirs.
Zhou Dajun's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and he was extremely excited.
He slammed his hand on the table, making a sharp "smack" sound.
He then picked up Wu Haiyan, spun her around several times, and then burst into laughter.
"You're my lucky star! You came up with such a brilliant idea, that's fantastic! My life is about to turn around!"
Wu Haiyan was spinning around until she felt dizzy and her head was buzzing.
But she still clearly heard the words, "I'm going to have money soon."
"Ugh, this spinning is making my head spin!"
Wu Haiyan then added softly, "But I have one condition—you are not allowed to remarry her; you must marry me!"
She knew perfectly well that husband and wife were the most intimate and proper relationship.
Once she's married, she can naturally take control of everything.
Money only truly belongs to someone when it's in your own hand.
Zhou Dajun didn't understand the deeper meaning in Wu Haiyan's words at all, and just thought she was jealous.
He gently put her down and patted her on the bottom.
"Are you afraid I'll be snatched away by someone else? Don't worry, the only one I love is you! No one can compare to you even a fraction."
Wu Haiyan sighed inwardly, thinking to herself that this guy was indeed shallow and brainless.
But we can't afford to break off relations yet.
After all, the plan has only just begun, and we must not allow any unexpected complications.
She could only smile shyly and reproachfully, and lightly punched him.
"You're so sweet-talking, you've melted my heart. I cherish you so much, how could I let someone else take you away? Tell me, will you say yes or no?"
Zhou Dajun was still indulging in his pipe dream; how could he possibly agree to the marriage so quickly?
He cleared his throat, deliberately drawing out his words, pretending to be deep in thought.
"Hmm... I need to think about this carefully."
Well, even at a time like this, you're still putting on airs. Do you really think you're so precious?
Wu Haiyan rolled her eyes inwardly, but dared not show it on her face.
She suppressed her nausea and forced a charming smile.
"You're the worst. I knew it. I don't hold a big place in your heart. You're always thinking about others and never care about me."
"Who said that! I've missed you so much these past few days!"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Dajun's eyes darkened, and his tone became provocative.
His eyes scoured her body, his gaze greedy and burning.
When Wu Haiyan met his gaze, she stiffened, naturally understanding what he was thinking.
The sticky gaze falling on her sent chills down her spine and made her feel nauseous.
But she hesitated—should she play dumb or go along with him?
"What's wrong, little beauty? You're not saying anything again?"
Before she could respond, Zhou Dajun scooped her up in his arms.
As he strode into the house, he chuckled and said, "Silence means consent! I can't let you off so easily tonight."
Wu Haiyan clenched her teeth, her eyelashes trembled slightly, but she ultimately did not struggle.
She turned her face to the corner of the wall, her whole being like a soulless shell, silently enduring all this humiliation.
When Zhou Dajun came out again, it was already completely dark.
He slowly fastened his belt, looking completely satisfied.
Then he plopped down on the coffee table and started drinking tea.
Wu Haiyan followed them out.
Her face was somewhat pale, and her hair was slightly disheveled.
Despite feeling disgusted, Huang Siting decided to get a definite answer today.
"Brother Dajun."
Huang Siting's voice was soft, with a hint of caution.
"Don't you like me anymore? I... I want to be with you openly and honestly, I don't want to keep doing this secretly. If you don't want to, what are we supposed to do in the future?"
I like you a lot! Don't rush me.
Zhou Dajun reached out and pinched her cheek, the gesture seemingly intimate, but his eyes were somewhat wandering.
"Can you give me some time to think about it? Don't pressure me, okay? I won't say any more, it's getting late, I have to go back."
After saying that, he stood up, casually straightened the hem of his clothes, seemingly not taking her words to heart at all.
Huang Siting watched him walk step by step toward the door, her heart churning with anger and resentment.
But she still said softly, "Brother Dajun, don't forget our plan. From now on, we'll be counting on you. Remember, I'm sincere towards you."
Zhou Dajun waved his hand without turning his head, leaving behind only a casual "I know".
He imagined himself living the life of a tycoon, a smile playing on his lips as he walked into his house.
"I'm back!"
As soon as Zhou Dajun pushed open the door, he started shouting loudly.
He wore a smug smile, completely oblivious to the disdainful looks he received from the three people inside the room.
"Why are you only getting back now? Didn't you say you were going shopping with Haiqing? It takes you a whole afternoon to buy clothes?"
Qin Guifang turned slightly to the side, her hand resting on the kitchen door frame, her tone indifferent, as if she were just asking casually.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Dajun's heart skipped a beat.
Then, he awkwardly grinned and gave a dry laugh.
"Well, we weren't always together. After we separated in between, I just wandered around the streets for a while. Just walking around and looking at things, killing time."
As Zhou Dajun spoke, he hurriedly put the food on the dining table.
It was a bag of roadside pancakes that were still slightly warm.
A few ordinary roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) and scallion pancakes are not worth much money to begin with.
But now he's displaying it like a treasure, thinking he can use small favors to appease his family.
"Oh? I see."
Qin Guifang drew out the last syllable, and seeing the thin layer of sweat on his forehead and his evasive eyes, she knew what was going on.
Just as Zhou Dajun breathed a sigh of relief, thinking he had gotten away with it, she spoke again.
"I thought you were lost and couldn't find your way home!"
This sounds like a joke, but it's actually a veiled insult.
He's been appearing and disappearing like a ghost all afternoon. Does he think everyone else is blind?
Zhou Dajun, however, pretended not to understand the implied meaning.
"How could that be! I know this area very well. I know every alleyway and how many turns there are. I could find my way back with my eyes closed!"
He spoke with great conviction and a smug look on his face.
Zhou Haiqing sat at the dining table, head down, silently peeling an orange.
He sighed inwardly, feeling a surge of irritation.
I'm so unlucky to have such a father—both narcissistic and stubborn.
If Zhou Dajun weren't always boasting, intolerant of criticism, and quick to anger...
They wouldn't always beat around the bush like this.
"Dad, you're amazing."
Zhou Haiqing suppressed his impatience, raised his head, and forced a smile.
"Mom and I were really worried about you just now. After all, you've been wandering around outside alone for so long, it wouldn't be convenient if something happened to you."
Zhou Dajun's eyes lit up, and he turned to look at Zhou Haiqing, his face full of gratified satisfaction, as if saying, "My son understands me best."
It seems I still hold a significant position and influence at home!
"Don't worry, I'm fine!"
Zhou Dajun patted his chest.
After saying that, he walked with slightly exaggerated steps to Zhou Shufen, who had been silent all along.
