Chapter 77 I Don't Care
Guo Zhenyi stood to the side, his brows furrowed, but his ears were perked up.
From the whispers around him, he gradually pieced together the whole story.
It turns out that everything Zhou Shufen did was not out of weakness or escapism, but rather a premeditated plan.
She endured misunderstandings and criticism, all for one purpose.
She needed to get rid of Zhou Dajun completely and sever this painful relationship from her forever.
Guo Zhenyi rushed into the classroom and strode up to Zhou Shufen in a few steps.
He raised his hand and shouted loudly towards the door, "Security! Where's security? Come in now! Take this person away immediately!"
Before Zhou Dajun could react, two security guards who rushed over grabbed his arms from either side.
He struggled, his face flushed red, and he continued to curse.
"You insidious woman! Scheming against me? Pretending to be virtuous? Who do you think you are! Just you wait, this isn't over! I won't let you get away with this, and I won't let any of you get away with this!"
His voice was filled with resentment and unwillingness.
But as it was dragged toward the door, the sound gradually faded until it could no longer be heard.
The classroom was a complete mess, and it was clear that today's class couldn't be held.
After a while, the crowd gradually dispersed.
In the end, only Guo Zhenyi and Zhou Shufen remained in the classroom.
Guo Zhenyi turned around to face Zhou Shufen, his heart filled with mixed feelings, his face full of unease.
"I'm sorry... I misunderstood you. What I said before was really impulsive and thoughtless."
Guo Zhenyi was filled with remorse; he had misunderstood her so badly.
She even said she would help her "solve" Zhou Dajun.
But it turned out that Zhou Shufen had planned ahead, and she did not jump back into the fire.
"Looking back now, I realize how naive and childish I was."
His voice was low and filled with deep self-reproach.
"The more benefits you give Zhou Dajun, the more he will take advantage of you. If you really listen to my advice, you will probably only get deeper and deeper into trouble, and in the end, there will be serious problems."
Guo Zhenyi was filled with anxiety, unsure whether she would forgive his recklessness and ignorance.
"Don't say that, it's really nothing."
Zhou Shufen smiled gently, her tone soft.
“I didn’t take it to heart at all, and what you said didn’t affect me. I know you meant well.”
Her voice was light and cheerful, and her expression was composed.
But in that instant, Guo Zhenyi's heart sank.
He felt a mix of emotions after hearing these words.
Zhou Shufen didn't take his thoughts seriously at all, and wasn't even willing to give an explanation or response.
"So that's how it is."
Guo Zhenyi sounded somewhat disappointed.
He always felt uncomfortable around Zhou Shufen.
That feeling was just like everything that had just happened.
All his worries, hesitations, and careful wording were just him worrying unnecessarily.
"Yeah, so don't take it to heart."
Zhou Shufen was completely unaware that something was amiss.
Her tone was light and flat.
"Alright, since everything's alright, I'll be going now."
Guo Zhenyi was in low spirits and his voice was hoarse.
He gave a perfunctory greeting, his tone so dismissive that even he couldn't stand it.
But she still managed to squeeze out a complete sentence.
After saying that, he turned and walked out.
Back in his office, he sat down and mechanically flipped through the documents on his desk.
The pages were turned one by one.
Even though his eyes were fixed on the paper, he couldn't concentrate on a single word.
My gaze wandered between the lines, but my mind was a complete mess.
The more you force yourself to concentrate, the more chaotic your mind becomes.
He let out a long sigh, the sound emanating from his chest filled with deep weariness.
Finally, he simply pushed the document aside.
My mind was filled with the conversation I had just had with Zhou Shufen.
He lowered his head and gave a cold laugh, a bitter smile curving his lips.
At that moment, Zhou Shufen was packing her bag in the classroom.
She bent down and stuffed the lesson plan and pencil case into her bag.
She was about to leave when she tripped over an overturned desk leg.
He lost his balance and his center of gravity shifted.
"Ouch!"
She gasped and fell to the ground, instinctively bracing herself with her hands.
The rough floor chafed my skin, and it burned painfully.
She gasped in pain, her brow furrowed, and she shook her numb hand while looking down at her wound.
I realized I had been daydreaming.
I was still thinking about what Guo Zhenyi said, and my mind was completely elsewhere.
Zhou Shufen shook her numb hands and stood up.
But the conversation was still replaying in my mind.
And Guo Zhenyi's indifferent demeanor when he left.
He walked so fast that he didn't even look back.
"Your words have no effect on me."
"I don't care."
"The plan was set a long time ago and it won't change."
These words sounded quite calm, and the tone wasn't intense.
Why be so harsh when you could have been gentler?
What exactly was she insisting on back then?
Guo Zhenyi was doing it for her own good; he was genuinely thinking about her.
Instead of being grateful, she responded in this tone.
Looking back now, I realize how nonchalant I was.
"Oh no, he must be upset about this."
Zhou Shufen muttered something under her breath.
She walked out of the classroom, her steps unconsciously slowing down.
The place was deserted, with only a sliver of twilight light shining obliquely on the steps.
Guo Zhenyi left from here.
She hesitated for a few seconds, her fingers unconsciously twisting the bag strap.
But in the end, she didn't move.
She was afraid that she would say something wrong again and add fuel to the fire at this moment.
She didn't understand him, nor was she sure if she had the right to salvage the emotions she had so easily squandered.
Finally, she quietly left the teaching building.
The wind blew past her ears, but she felt no chill at all.
"Mom, you're back?"
Qin Guifang sat on the sofa, supporting her round belly.
She was wearing a loose maternity dress, with a gentle smile on her face.
These past few days, she's especially fond of gently touching her belly and talking to the baby in a soft voice.
As long as the baby moves even once inside.
Even a light kick would make her grin from ear to ear, her eyes crinkling into crescent moons.
That feeling of being needed and trusted.
"Hmm, have you eaten?"
Zhou Shufen responded with a slightly low voice.
She forced herself to sit down on the sofa.
"I've already eaten. Have you eaten?"
As Qin Guifang answered, she put down her water glass and looked up at Zhou Shufen.
As soon as she spoke, she suddenly noticed that the other person's expression was not quite right.
Her heart tightened.
"Is something wrong? You seem to be in a bad mood."
The things between her and Guo Zhenyi.
How could Zhou Shufen say something so casually?
Those are all old grievances that are difficult to unravel.
But at her age, she's long past the stage of tossing and turning over love.
If she were to reveal these things, others would only think she lacked decorum.
It's embarrassing to even tell anyone.
"It's nothing. It's just that Zhou Dajun caused a scene today and said some really nasty things. I made things clear and said everything that needed to be said. I guess he won't dare to cause trouble again."
She shook her head gently, trying to keep her tone calm, and made up an excuse to brush it off.
