Chapter 47 Don't Make Me Slap You

Chapter 47 Don't Make Me Slap You

In the past, none of my relationships lasted more than three months.

Now he's suddenly getting married and is even inviting her to the wedding.

That's really illogical.

"Mom, I'll lose face if you don't go."

Zhou Hailiang acted cute and charming in front of her.

“If you don’t come, people will think I’m an unfilial son. How will I be able to hold my head up among my relatives? Besides, Xiaowei’s parents have already agreed. They’re just waiting for your approval.”

"good."

Zhou Shufen pondered for a moment, then nodded.

“I will be there on the wedding day. I want to see with my own eyes whether you are truly committed to living together. I don’t want to see any farce, and I don’t want others to say that the Zhao family doesn’t know the proper etiquette.”

She has already sent people to investigate Zhou Xiaowei's background.

She would never let anything go easily if it was even slightly off.

This wedding might just be a smokescreen.

There may be a bigger scheme behind this.

Simply hiding isn't the solution.

She mentally prepared herself, determined to stay calm no matter what happened on her wedding day.

If Zhou Hailiang wanted to profit from the marriage, she would definitely expose him on the spot.

"That's wonderful, we'll be waiting for you that day."

Zhou Hailiang smiled with satisfaction, then led Zhou Xiaowei away.

As he walked out the door, a hint of smugness flashed in his eyes.

...

On her wedding day, Zhou Shufen made a special effort to dress up.

She walked with her back straight, at a moderate pace, from the entrance all the way here.

"Who is that? He has such an elegant air about him."

"Never seen you before, have you never shown your face before?"

"Is it a relative of the man's family? Or a relative of the woman's family?"

Everyone's attention was drawn to Zhou Shufen.

She smiled back at several familiar tables and slowly walked towards the main table.

Zhou Shufen scanned the entire room, observing everyone discreetly.

Among those present, the one who knew her best was Zhou Dajun.

He's the groom's father, and he's here today too.

Seeing Zhou Shufen so radiant, he felt a mix of emotions.

I originally thought leaving that home would be a relief.

But what he saw made him realize that he had lost far more than he had gained.

He was truly blind back then; how could he not have seen how outstanding Zhou Shufen was?

She used to wear faded pajamas.

I get up early every day to cook, take the kids to school, and do housework in the evening.

He also frequently complained that she didn't know how to serve people.

Looking back now, it's not that she lacked ability; she just focused all her energy on her family.

To be honest, Zhou Dajun hasn't been having a good time lately.

He was willing to leave with nothing to stay with Wu Haiyan, but she quickly became disliked.

At first, Wu Haiyan was very attentive to him and asked about his well-being.

But her attitude changed not long afterward.

He wanted to move out, but he had nowhere to go.

They had no choice but to grit their teeth and continue living there.

A depressing atmosphere permeated the house every day.

Having been unable to find a job recently, Wu Haiyan became even more unforgiving.

They boss him around all the time.

She was ostracized at the factory, and she wasn't treated well when she got home either.

Sometimes he would just watch TV for a while, and she would say he was lazy.

Although Wu Haiyan was promoted, the position was just for show.

The factory assigned her to manage several older workers who simply wouldn't listen to her orders.

She wanted to ask someone for advice, but no one was willing to help her.

Some people gossiped behind her back, saying that she got the position through connections.

Every time she left the factory after get off work, she felt weak all over.

All I could hear were rumors and gossip.

"Didn't she just climb to the top by stealing someone else's husband?"

“No decent person would respect her.”

These words spread wider and wider, and even people in other workshops knew about them.

She wanted to report the issue to her supervisor, but he just downplayed it.

Let her prove herself through her work performance.

She was mistreated at the factory, so naturally she couldn't control her temper when she got home.

The two argued so fiercely that their home became a battlefield.

This time, taking advantage of Zhou Hailiang's wedding, Zhou Dajun quietly approached Zhou Shufen.

"Long time no see! You've become more and more beautiful!"

Zhou Shufen gave him a cold glance, her face full of disdain.

Who are you?

People around looked over when they heard this.

Zhou Dajun thought she genuinely didn't recognize him.

"I'm your ex-husband, Dajun!"

He raised his voice slightly when he said the name.

Zhou Shufen gets angry whenever she hears those two words.

"I know it's you. If you have something to say, say it. If not, go away. I feel nauseous just looking at you, understand?"

Zhou Dajun's smile froze.

"Why are you saying such hurtful things? I've come here today to sincerely apologize. I was foolish before, blinded by those other women. I didn't know how to cherish them then, always thinking that it was enough for me to be successful outside. Now I've figured it out. No matter how lively it is outside, it's never my home. I've been living alone these past few days, not eating well, not sleeping well, feeling empty inside. I've thought it all through, and all I want is to come back and live a good life, to treat you well, and to take care of our family."

Zhou Shufen felt like vomiting just listening to it.

How can this person be so shameless?

"Are you kidding me? You're dreaming! We broke up ages ago. We divorced a long time ago, and our feelings for each other are long gone. You still think this is an act, that you can come back whenever you want? No way, understand?"

After being criticized several times in a row, Zhou Dajun was losing face.

He simply brazenly moved forward.

"Shufen, we've been together for so many years, how can you be so heartless? I want to go home. The child is all grown up now, shouldn't he have a complete family? He's married, he'll settle down and start a family, he can't stay single forever. Besides, who else understands you like I do?"

As he spoke, he tentatively reached out to grab her wrist.

The moment I touched her sleeve, she flung me away abruptly.

"What are you doing! Get out of my way!"

Zhou Shufen stepped back to the wall.

"Why are you hiding? We're not strangers. Today is our son's wedding, let's not make things awkward."

Zhou Dajun grinned sullenly and took a step closer.

“Look, all the relatives are here. If this makes a scene, how will my son face people in the future? I’m doing this for his own good.”

Zhou Shufen's face darkened.

"I'm warning you, take one more step closer to me, and don't blame me for being impolite! I always keep my word. Today is a joyous occasion, and I don't want to resort to violence, but don't force me."

"What can you do? She's just a woman..."

Zhou Dajun smiled contemptuously and pounced on him with open arms.

"After all these years, you're still so stubborn. Can't I just coax you a little?"

Just then, Guo Zhenyi suddenly appeared and stood in front of Zhou Shufen.

He grabbed Zhou Dajun's wrist and, with a sudden burst of strength, threw him against the wall.

"Ouch! Ouch!"

Zhou Dajun was seriously injured in the collision.

"Who are you? You've hit me! Are you going to pay for the damage? If my back is injured, will you pay for my medical expenses? You need at least five hundred or a thousand, or this isn't over! This matter needs to be resolved today!"

"I'm so sorry to have troubled you."

Zhou Shufen quickly apologized to Guo Zhenyi.

"It's alright, people like that deserve to be taught a lesson."

Guo Zhenyi stared coldly at Zhou Dajun, standing ramrod straight, showing no intention of backing down.

"By the way, what are you doing here?"

Zhou Shufen then realized that today was the wedding.

"I am an old friend of the bride Zhou Xiaowei's father. I came here to have a drink at her wedding."

Guo Zhenyi answered calmly.
