Chapter 112 Return to Green City

At the entrance of the Yellow River Hotel in Greentown, Zhao Xiaohai, dressed in a black suit and with a bright smile on his face, strode briskly into the hotel's reception hall. Behind him, three bodyguards, all dressed in black jackets, followed closely. The person walking between them, carrying a combination suitcase, was none other than Major Sofia, now out of uniform. It was as if Sofia was a completely different person once she shed her uniform. Gone was her dashing demeanor, replaced by the allure and sexiness that is so characteristic of a beautiful Russian woman.

This was Sofia's first visit to China. From the time she entered the country to the Green City, what she saw and heard along the way opened her eyes and gave this major, who had never left the Soviet Union, a lot of feelings.

At least one thing she realized was the true benefits of a market economy: as long as one had money, one could have everything. There were no more limits on fruit purchases; tobacco and alcohol were no longer special supplies; there were no more queues for shopping with tickets; private hotels were everywhere, offering excellent service, and there was no need to worry about being treated differently based on social status. In fact, Sophia wasn't the only one who felt this way. The two guards assigned to monitor Zhao Xiaohai clearly had a much more dazed and envious look in their eyes than Sophia did.

Zhao Xiaohai, on the other hand, wasn't in the mood to admire the scenery along the way. He was more concerned with how to carry out his plan this time. Honestly, Zyuganov and his team didn't fully trust him upon his return from the Soviet Union. It was precisely because of this that Li Qiang and Jin Lulu were detained in Irkutsk, and Sofia had also brought two soldiers to monitor them. However, none of this mattered to Zhao Xiaohai. For him, this cooperation had to be successful, as it was the first step towards success. Success would easily resolve all subsequent issues.

"Hello, sir," the pretty and kind waiter at the hotel front desk asked, "Welcome."

"Well, hello," Zhao Xiaohai nodded and smiled, "Please give me four standard rooms."

"No, let's open two, double rooms." Sophia raised her objection in not very fluent Chinese.

"You can speak Chinese?!" Zhao Xiaohai has been with this somewhat violent female major for some time, but he only found out today that this woman actually understands Chinese.

Sophia rolled her eyes at him and said nothing.

"So, sir, who are you..." The waitress at the bar smiled and said to Zhao Xiaohai.

"Ah, wait a moment." Zhao Xiaohai grabbed Sophia's arm, pulled her aside, and whispered, "How are the four of us going to stay in two double rooms? Are you going to share one with those two big pieces of wood, or should I share one with them?"

"I'll room with you." Sophia answered without hesitation.

"You're living in the same room with me?!" Zhao Xiaohai asked in surprise.

"That's right," Sofia said. "Before we came here, Comrade Zyuganov repeatedly told me that I must follow you closely to prevent you from trying to escape."

"I... I run away?! You've detained my brother and wife, and you're still afraid that I'll run away?!" Zhao Xiaohai said angrily.

"Well, you have long been corrupted by the decadent ideas of Western capitalism. You are selfish, greedy and corrupt. Who knows how important family affection is to you?" Sophia first looked at him with contempt, and then said frankly.

"You...is that how you look at me?" Zhao Xiaohai's eyes widened, an expression of disbelief on his face. "Don't forget, this cooperation was proposed by you, and you used threats and inducements. I... forget it, forget it, I don't want to argue with you. Let's just stay in the same room. But I have to say this upfront. I have a bad habit of sleeping naked and walking around the room naked. Don't be surprised when things get weird."

Sophia stared at the man in front of her expressionlessly for a long while before she said seriously, "That's perfect. I also like sleeping naked and walking around the room naked. It's perfect for the two of us to share a room."

What does it mean to "never stop until you say something shocking"? Sophia's words almost made Zhao Xiaohai drop his jaw on the ground. He looked at the female major with no makeup on and a serious tendency towards violence, and a scene emerged in his mind: a naked man and woman, facing each other in a room, and in an instant, the naked woman suddenly went crazy, holding a telephone and hitting the man's head hard... A large pool of blood flowed under the man's body.

"Hurry up and go and handle the formalities. What are you thinking about?" Seeing Zhao Xiaohai standing beside her in a daze, Sophia raised her leg and kicked him on the knee, saying impatiently.

"Oh, I'll go right away..." Zhao Xiaohai shuddered and came back to his senses from the erotic and terrifying fantasy. He quickly walked back to the bar to complete his check-in procedures.

The Yellow River Hotel was one of Greentown's three high-end hotels. Back in 1986, it was considered one of the best in Greentown, both in terms of service and ambiance. The two rooms Zhao Xiaohai and his three companions had booked were adjacent to each other on the sixth floor, a truly stunning spot. From the windows, they could see the lush greenery of Zhongyuan Road.

What made Zhao Xiaohai feel a little surprised and a little regretful at the same time was that the room was a suite with both inside and outside rooms. In this way, he and Sophia could avoid the embarrassment of "living together".
