Zhou Xiang stretched out his finger and pointed at his daughter, "But, I thought about it, but you, didn't."
"It's what I think, not what can be thought of."
Zhou Xiang picked up his daughter and said, "Tell me, who came up with this idea?"
Tongtong hugged her mother's neck and said, "That's what I thought. Mom, are you feeling better now?"
Zhou wanted to pinch his daughter's nose, "What do you think?"
"I've gotten better. Otherwise, they wouldn't be in the mood to care about us. We are just poor children, who come when they're called and go away when they're dismissed."
"Well, go away! I'll hold your sister."
Zhou Xiang put his daughter down and picked up Yuanyuan. Tongtong tugged at her mother's clothes and said, "I want to hold her too. I want her too."
"Stand on a chair."
Tongtong immediately climbed onto the dining chair. Zhou Xiang stretched out his other hand and hugged her. A little girl sat on his arm.
Everyone in the living room breathed a sigh of relief. Was the alarm over?
After Ling Ran arranged Xiao Chen's work, he hurried back to Zhou's house at the food station, found Zhu Hang, and asked him to immediately look for the clothes and shoes that Zhu Hang wore when he was six years old.
Zhu Hang could only drop the half-peeled potato in his hand, wash his hands, and go upstairs to look for it.
Ling Ran went along to help. Fortunately, his wife had told his mother-in-law to mark the names and ages when she collected the clothes. All he had to do was align the marks, find the cartons, and then search through the cartons for the newer ones.
Ling Ran was very quick. He shook and looked, and found that this one was suitable and that one was not.
After a while, the clothes in the cardboard box became a mess.
"Shoes and socks."
Zhu Hang could only pull down the cardboard box from the top of the wardrobe. When Ling Ran left with two large bags, the bed in his room was already piled with his son's childhood clothes. Well, he had to fold and organize them again.
Ling Ran avoided the people in the living room who asked him what he was carrying, took the bag into his room, and washed the clothes first. One bucket couldn't finish it, so he washed it several times.
Needless to say, he was the one who cleaned the shoes. He didn't want to let his wife work so hard.
By dinner time, Ling Ran had finished brushing his shoes, and the washed clothes were hanging all over the bathroom and study.
Zhou Xiang insisted on putting away two plates of cooked dumplings, saying that they were to be eaten tomorrow.
The children looked at their mother (aunt) who was fighting with them for the dumplings, lowered their heads and continued eating. Their mother (aunt) felt weird, but decided not to bother her.
Zhou Xiang got up and went into the kitchen. After a while of fussing around, he came out empty-handed. Everyone looked at each other in confusion. What was going on?
Two plates of dumplings suddenly appeared in front of Zhou Yan in the space, followed by a bowl of vinegar, chopsticks and a spoon, and two bowls of dumpling soup.
He held the plate and called to his mother, "Mom, come and eat dumplings. Auntie brought in two plates, and there must be one for you."
Zhou Xiang outside was feeling very upset. In order to make her nephew feel at ease, she had to take care of that stupid woman as well. It was so annoying!
What’s even more annoying is that she can’t decide what to do with Kong Xianxian. She has to leave her nephew as his biological mother!
I had a headache, so I called my eldest brother and asked him to come back quickly to deal with his own problems.
After dinner, Zhou Xiang put down her bowl and chopsticks and ran back to her room. She wanted to make a phone call and trick her elder brother into going back first. By the time he came back, she would have almost solved the problem.
Seeing the clothes and shoes in the study and bathroom, she quickly threw them into the space again.
In the space, the mother and son were slowly eating home-style dumplings when they saw a lot of clothes hanging on the branches of the fruit trees in the distance. There were also shoes strung on the branches, and most of them were children's.
"It should be the clothes that my aunt found for me and washed them for me."
"Yes! Your aunt loves you very much."
"Yeah!" Zhou Yan nodded vigorously.
~~
Zhou wanted to call his eldest brother, "Brother?"
"Yes! Why did you call suddenly?"
Zhou didn't want to answer directly, "Where have you been?"
"Qinghai Lake."
"Let's go back! I have something important to talk to you about."
"Okay! I'll start my return journey in two days."
"Don't delay too much. Half a month is enough. No more than 20 days."
"OK."
After hanging up the phone, Zhou Xiang sighed. When his elder brother came back, there would be great turmoil at home.
The next weekend, Zhou Xiang had no mood to go to the front yard of the food station, so Ling Ran was left to watch over it. She called Manager Song and told him that she was back and could ask the county to come and get the loan.
Then she lay dead on the bed, not daring to enter the space, for fear of seeing Yan'er's loneliness. She didn't want to pay attention to the children, for fear that she would not be able to resist pulling Yan'er out, or sending the children in.
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in," Zhou Xiang replied weakly.
The person who came in was Mao Xiaolu, who still lived in Zhou's house. She sat down on the bed opposite Zhou Xiang. After the three children grew up, although they moved into their bedroom, they would occasionally come and stay with their parents for a night or two, so the beds they used when they were children were still there.
"What's wrong? You've been going abroad and your emotions have been volatile since you came back."
Zhou Xiang climbed up and sat up. "Don't talk about me. My problems need time to be resolved. Let's talk about you. You are still living here, and Ding Fan hasn't come back yet?"
Mao Xiaolu shook her head, "No!"
"Did you call?"
"Yes."
"Well, your mood is not right. Tell me what's going on?"
Mao Xiaolu sighed, "He beat me, yes. He used to beat me several times a day, but after what happened with that kid, it became once a day. Now, if I don't beat him, he won't beat me."
Zhou Xiang nodded. "That's good. Distance not only creates beauty, but also cools passion. I see you're in a better state now than last week. Have you regained your composure, or accepted the facts? Whose child is that?"
