Chapter 56 Buying Old Furniture Again

At the scrap yard, Zhou Xiang stepped forward and slipped a dollar to the woman guarding inside.

"Sister, let's pick out some old furniture and old books."

The woman clenched the money in her hand and turned to look at him. "Oh, it's you again. Go ahead, take your pick and come out to get an estimate."

Zhou Xiang also recognized the person from last time. It was just right that she had tasted the sweetness, so the three of them were no longer afraid of being rushed when choosing things together.

He waved behind him, and Ling Ran and Zuo Heng appeared. Zhou wanted to ask them to put the things on the woman's side.

"Sister, could you please take a look at these things?"

The woman waved her hand and said, "Okay, leave it here. No one will dare to steal it."

The three of them entered the room where the old furniture was placed and began to look for furniture that looked antique and heavy. Zhou Xiang had explained that such furniture might be made of precious wood. It might not be valuable now, but would be valuable in the future.

Zhou Xiang looked for a desk, a long table, or an octagonal table. After searching for a long time, he found a relatively large square table under a pile of broken table legs and firewood.

The carvings on the corners and the dark brown color of the wood made Zhou Xiang feel that this must be an old table.

He called Ling Ran and Zuo Heng over and showed it to them. The two of them were quite satisfied with the exposed side, so the three of them started to clean up the broken table legs and table top.

"Pile the better ones together and buy them back as firewood. It's not easy to come here, so bring more back for firewood."

After hearing what Zhou Xiang said, Ling Ran and Zuo Heng selected some table legs without splinters and put them aside.

Half an hour later, the table was finally vacated. When the three of them saw the original appearance of the table, they looked at each other and said that it must have been made of good wood.

The three of them worked in unison to lift the table out immediately, then turned it over so that the legs were facing upwards and piled the selected firewood into it.

The pile was full and the three of them breathed a sigh of relief, but they couldn't let the eldest sister think that it was a good thing and be reluctant to sell it.

Continuing to search, Zuo Heng found six chairs, four of which were identical, and the other two were different, with their legs not being very stable.

Zuo Heng said that he just needed to go back and fix it.

Ling Ran dragged out a wooden bed, which was a bit similar to Zuo Heng's bed.

Zhou Xiang glared at him, "Do you even want a bed?"

Ling Ran nodded, "As long as there is my bed, I feel that it is also my home."

Zuo Heng was happy to hear this, "Okay, add a bed, it will be your home too, you should come often."

Zhou Xiang wanted to see Zuo Heng happy, so he had to agree.

Ling Ran, whose plan succeeded, smiled and continued to search.

"Zhou Xiang, come over here and take a look."

Hearing Ling Ran calling him, Zhou Xiang walked over and saw the place Ling Ran was pointing to. Hmm, there seemed to be a throne under the pile of firewood.

If it is a genuine armchair, it may be made of good wood.

Zuo Heng was called over, and the three of them started moving again. This time, without Zhou Xiang saying anything, the two of them consciously put the neatly arranged firewood aside and sorted it out.

After moving the broken firewood on top, the true appearance underneath was revealed. It was indeed a pair of armchairs, but one of the legs was broken in half.

"Move it out. I want this pair of chairs."

Zhou Xiang gave the order, and the two of them naturally obeyed. After moving out the pair of chairs, there seemed to be more inside.

The three of them looked at each other and started working.

An hour later, all the firewood in this area was neatly arranged.

Two pairs of armchairs and two high tables, these six items are obviously a set.

"Okay, let's go find some tables to put our things on. See if there's a desk available for Ling Ran."

After hearing this, Ling Ran immediately felt all the strength in his body return.

I found three more desks, a small dining table, and four stools.

Finally, all the people were selected, and the three were slowly carried to the gate.

When the woman saw that they had chosen so many items, her face turned unhappy, and she wondered if she would be scolded.

Zhou Xiang stuffed another dollar into her pocket and said, "I'm sorry to bother you, but we've cleared out a little space inside so you can put your things there when you pack them up."

Upon hearing this, the woman went to the house in the backyard and saw the empty half of the house. She felt that she would not be criticized but would even be praised.

Satisfied, he returned to the front and collected the old furniture for thirty dollars, firewood for ten dollars, and books for three dollars.

Zhou Xiang looked at the two-foot-high stack of books and was very satisfied with the price.

Three carts were called over, and three masters helped to load the things onto the carts. One of the carts was full of firewood, and the purchased pots, vegetables, stoves and pots were also placed on the carts.

This time the three craftsmen were very proactive. They carried the furniture to the main room and piled the firewood in the yard. Zhou Xiang happily added one more dollar, and each of them took three dollars and left happily.

They started to clean and tidy up. Ling Ran didn't allow Zhou Xiang to use cold water, so he and Zuo Heng were the ones who cleaned.

Zhou Xiang decided to just cook so they could eat after the two of them finished cleaning.

Zuo Heng loves braised pork, and I believe Ling Ran likes it too.

Stir-fried bean curd sheets with shredded cabbage, stir-fried shredded radish, and scallion and egg soup.

Take out the dishes, add water, bring to a boil, add the washed rice, take out the big firewood, put a few branches and simmer it on a low fire.

Then take out the small iron pot, find a brick, and rub the inside of the pot until you feel that all the edges and corners are rubbed. Brush the pot clean, wipe off the water, and set it aside.

The rice was completely cooked, so Ling Ran and the other person were called to eat. They washed their hands and went into the kitchen.

Seeing the braised pork, Ling Ran smiled.

Zhou Xiang felt relieved when he saw that his eyes were fixed on the braised pork. After more than a month, he finally understood that this was an awkward and arrogant demon, and he had to be given an important position.

While eating, Ling Ran and Zuo Heng both put meat into Zhou Xiang's bowl, and Zhou Xiang took the bowl away.

"Help yourself. Take whatever you like. You're welcome."

Ling Ran glared at Zuo Heng and put the meat back into his bowl. Zuo Heng had no choice but to retract his chopsticks.

After dinner, they started to put things back in order. Zhou Xiang directed the work and two boys started carrying the things.

Four armchairs and two high tables were placed against the east wall. Modern houses are not as big as ancient houses, so they can only be placed against one wall.

The octagonal table was placed against the west wall, with three chairs stuffed under the three sides of the table.

The bed was moved to the east room, against the north wall. The original left horizontal bed was against the east wall, and the space inside was empty.

The desk was placed against the wall at the end of the bed, and a chair was brought in from outside to match the desk.

There were two desks left, and Zhou Xiang thought they were both good things, so he moved them to the west room and placed them against the wall. The other two chairs were just right for the two desks.

A small dining table was moved to the kitchen, and four stools were placed in a row against the west wall of the main room.

Looking at the furnished main room, Zhou Xiang felt that the north wall in front of the door was empty.

"Zuo Heng, during the New Year, buy a painting and hang it on the north wall."

"Okay!" Zuo Heng looked at the neatly arranged furniture in the main room and felt warm and at home.

Seeing that everything was in place, Ling Ran began to tap each leg with his fingers, whether it was a bed leg, a table leg, or a chair leg.

Zhou Xiang was speechless and looked up at the roof. I don’t know this person.
