Chapter 127 Hidden Plot
Jiang Jianni recalled the novel's plot with a deep expression.
In the latter half of the novel, after the Jiang family has all fallen on hard times, Fang Shuying goes to Hong Kong and returns with a nanny in her forties.
She did not reveal the nanny's identity to outsiders, only saying that they met by chance.
She was struggling financially; her entire family had died, leaving her all alone.
Fang Shuying happened to pay for the cremation, and she also happened to like the food the other person cooked, so she took him with her.
However, some of the other party's past experiences were later revealed.
The other party was not an unfortunate daughter-in-law from a good family, but a stripper who was no longer popular because of her age.
Those around Fang Shuying suspected that the other person's presence in her life was for ulterior motives and that he wanted to get rid of her.
But Fang Shuying refused them all.
Using the excuse that she loved the food the other person cooked, she insisted on keeping him by her side, and even took care of him in his old age and saw him off in the extra chapters.
Even after the other person died, they still went to visit their grave every year.
It really boosted their reputation.
You should know that after the Jiang couple died, she didn't care at all, let alone hold a funeral or visit their graves.
Although the novel explains that it was because the Jiang family was too awful and troublesome, Fang Shuying had already severed ties with them and there was no need for her to pretend to use them to boost her reputation.
But isn't it a bit too strange and bizarre to leave one's own parents unattended before and after their death, and then provide for a former stripper as a caregiver until their death and even visit their graves during holidays?
She's just a nanny who's supposedly a good cook. Does the employer really need to go to such lengths for a nanny?
Unless there's something else going on about the nanny's identity.
For example, the nanny is actually Fang Shuying's biological mother.
Otherwise, it's hard to understand why a female lead who's supposed to be intelligent would do something so dramatic.
Yang Yuemei was startled by the way she was thinking so seriously.
She quietly tugged at Jiang's father's arm and asked in a low voice, "What should we do? Jianni seems angry."
She was a little confused: "Didn't we tell her from a young age that she was adopted?"
"Why is she still unhappy?"
Jiang's father looked at his wife helplessly and asked in a low voice, "If your father told you now that you're not his biological child, but someone he picked up, would you be happy?"
Whether it was a genuine find or a fake one, that's very important.
Yang Yuemei suddenly realized.
Looking at Jiang Jiani awkwardly, he said, "Jiani, are you... are you unhappy?"
Jiang Jianni looked at her expressionlessly and asked, "What do you think?"
Even though she now knows that he is not her biological child—well, she knew it all along, she knew he was adopted—the habit she had formed over the years still remains.
Yang Yuemei chuckled awkwardly, somewhat helplessly: "Isn't it because you said last time that you wanted the doctor to check your blood type when you gave birth to prevent the baby from being switched with someone else's? I thought I'd tell you earlier so you wouldn't be angry when you find out."
"Giving birth is a matter of life and death, and we can't afford to have any problems because of this."
Jiang Jianni: "..."
So it's all her own fault?
Jiang's father was worried about something else: "Jiani, even if you're not your mother's biological child, your mother and I still treat you like our own daughter."
"If you want to find your biological parents, your mother and I won't object. Go ahead and find them if you want."
"Once you find your biological parents, will you still acknowledge me and your mother?"
Yang Yuemei also tensed up immediately.
The couple stared intently at Jiang Jiani.
She's the only college student in the Jiang family, and they really can't bear to give away their well-raised daughter.
Jiang Jianni always felt that if she said "no" to their pitiful appearance, the couple would burst into tears.
She sighed, stood up, walked to sit between the two of them, and rested her head on Yang Yuemei's shoulder:
Why not admit it?
"I've called you Mom and Dad since I was a child. Why should you stop acknowledging me just because you know I'm not your biological child?"
"I never said anything like that."
"Or do you think that by bringing this up, you won't treat me like your own daughter anymore?"
Jiang Jianni turned the tables and left the couple stunned.
Yang Yuemei excitedly tried to stand up, but Jiang Jianni was leaning on her shoulder, so she had to suppress her excitement and said repeatedly:
"No, no, no, I raised you with my own hands and feet."
“Even if I don’t acknowledge your grandparents, I will definitely acknowledge you as my daughter.”
All right.
Yang Yuemei is still very vengeful.
Even at times like these, they never forget to kick Grandpa Jiang and Grandma Jiang.
Jiang's father also breathed a sigh of relief. He chuckled twice and said, "I was just asking."
“Girl, aren’t you looking for your biological parents? The female doctor who delivered your baby has retired. I... I know where she lives. I’ll tell you her address. You can go ask that doctor.”
Yang Yuemei rolled her eyes at her: "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"We don't even know who delivered Jia Ni's baby."
That doctor delivered their deceased daughter's baby, not Jiang Jiani's.
Jiang's father chuckled twice more, then scratched his head, saying, "Oh dear, I forgot about that."
Jiang Jiani was amused by the couple and couldn't stop laughing.
He chuckled twice, then his expression suddenly turned strange, and he put his hand on his stomach.
Jiang's father and Yang Yuemei immediately became anxious: "What's wrong? Did you laugh so hard your stomach hurts?"
"Oh dear, you're pregnant and you're still so careless."
Lu Xiangyang, without anyone noticing, pushed Jiang's father aside and squeezed next to Jiang Jiani: "Did the child kick you?"
Since realizing I was pregnant, even the baby's movements have become more frequent.
Once, Lu Xiangyang was lying on her stomach listening to the baby's movements when, lo and behold, the little foot kicked Lu Xiangyang in the head, knocking him to the side. His head was buzzing, and he almost had a concussion.
Jiang's parents immediately forgot about the matter of finding their biological parents.
Each one of them patted Jiang Jiani's belly with increasing delight.
Once the child quieted down, the three of them sat down contentedly.
Jiang's father brought up the previous topic again: "Really, Jia Ni, if you want to find your biological parents, we won't object."
“I see that when people are looking for someone, they either place a missing person ad in the newspaper or broadcast it on TV.”
"But both of these methods are very expensive. Our family is an ordinary family and we can't afford to keep looking for people like this for years."
He looked at Jiang Jiani hesitantly: "How about you wait until Dad earns more money before we start looking for someone?"
All reluctance was carefully concealed beneath an air of generosity.
Jiang Jianni laughed: "Why do we need to look for it?"
Yang Yuemei was stunned: "Huh? Aren't you going to look for it?"
Lu Xiangyang was also puzzled: "Are you really not going to look for one?"
Jiang Jianni sneered: "They've already thrown me into the trash heap. It's obvious they don't want me anymore. Why should I look for them?"
"They just gave birth to me; they didn't even raise me for more than a few days."
"It was you, Mom and Dad, who raised me and supported my education all the way to university."
Why would I go to someone who dumped me in the trash?
Yang Yuemei was both surprised and at a loss.
Jiang Jiani's decision not to look for her biological parents was good news for her, but it was completely contrary to her usual understanding.
She asked hesitantly, "Then, you're not going to look for them? They are your own parents."
