Chapter 94 Idol Turns into Enemy
The incident involving Fang Shuying and her boyfriend was just a minor episode, and everyone forgot about it in no time.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Jiang Jiani and Lu Xiangyang returned to the Jiang family to pay New Year's visits.
Before the two even reached the entrance of the residential area, Jiang Haiyang and Jiang Yanni had already rushed over.
Jiang Yanni called out from afar, "Second sister, second sister, over here, over here."
They shouted as they charged forward.
She was raised by Jiang Jiani from birth, and the two shared a room for over ten years, so the sisters had an extraordinary bond.
Aside from the four years Jiang Jiani went to university, the two sisters were rarely apart.
Even if she went to university, Jiang Yanni knew she would always come back.
The feelings didn't fade; instead, they deepened due to distance and time.
For example, Jiang Yanni would secretly tell Jiang Yanni who wrote her love letters. Although she would always get a warning about her studies, she was still very happy.
Jiang Jianni and Lu Xiangyang stayed at home for more than a month after they got their marriage certificate. Jiang Yanni didn't feel that there was any difference between her sister being married and not being married.
But after the wedding banquet, when Jiang Jianni and Lu Xiangyang returned to the Lu family home, Jiang Yanni realized that her sister had become someone else's woman after getting married and would no longer live at home.
Jiang Yanni cried quietly several times when no one could see her.
They wanted to make a scene to get Jiang Jiani back, but she's not a three-year-old child; she wouldn't do something so unreasonable.
She was overjoyed to learn that Jiang Jianni and Lu Xiangyang would be staying at the Jiang family home for a week during the Chinese New Year.
He dragged Jiang Haiyang out early in the morning to wait for someone.
She was like a little bird, so Jiang Jianni had to put down the wheelchair and open her arms to hug her: "Oh dear, how old are you? Really, you'll be sixteen after the New Year, a grown woman, and still so immature?"
"The ground is all ice, aren't you afraid of falling?"
Jiang Yanni nestled against Jiang Jiani, declaring confidently, "With you here, Second Sister, what's there to be afraid of?"
She grabbed Jiang Jianni and pulled her inside: "Second sister, let me tell you, I scored 20 points higher on this test than last time, it's my English..."
Lu Xiangyang frowned slightly and asked Jiang Haiyang, "Did Yanni encounter any trouble at school?"
Jiang Haiyang was puzzled by his question: "No, her grades have actually improved. She's now in the top five in the class, and she's been very happy."
Lu Xiangyang said thoughtfully, "That's good. A girl this age is easily bullied at school. As her older brother, you should keep an eye on her when you have time, so that she doesn't get bullied."
Nothing really happened?
Why did he sense a subtle hostility from Jiang Yanni?
Jiang Haiyang nodded repeatedly, "I know, I pick her up from school every day and we go home together."
He shook his head and stroked his newly sprouted beard, saying with a mature air, "Kids these days are really something else."
"I remember when I was in junior high school, all I did was study."
"Every day I'm either at school or at home, attending classes during the day and studying at night."
"Unlike kids these days, who are already dating even in middle school."
"Thirteen or fourteen-year-old brats, all they do is go to the movies or go ice skating at the rink."
"Honestly, they don't even think about the future."
"If you don't study hard when you're in school, are you going to support your kids by skating after graduation?"
Jiang Haiyang is not a very talkative person.
But for some reason, Lu Xiangyang wasn't like others who always complained that he was young and unreliable. He asked questions very seriously and listened very attentively.
Jiang Haiyang talked a lot without realizing it.
Jiang Yanni glanced back discreetly and saw that her third brother had obediently tripped her second brother-in-law, which made her extremely satisfied.
She grabbed Jiang Jiani's arm and shook it vigorously, saying in a coquettish tone, "Second sister, I heard that newlyweds stay at the bride's family home for a few more days during the first year of their marriage."
"You'll be staying a while longer, right?"
“Zhang Mingming’s sister stayed at her parents’ home for ten days during the first year of her marriage. You can’t stay less than her, can you?”
"How about staying for a month?"
"I've saved your bed for you, and I've already tidied it up for you."
She glanced back at Lu Xiangyang again and said, "Our house is so small, my brother-in-law definitely won't be used to living here. We'll let him go back home, and you can continue living here."
"Our mom and dad have no objections."
“I asked them, and they said I can stay as long as I want.”
She looked up at Jiang Jiani with her little face pleadingly: "Sister, you'll stay a few more days, right?"
"We haven't slept together in so long, why don't you stay a few more days? Okay?"
Jiang Jianni was both amused and exasperated, and pinched her nose: "You, how old are you, still acting like a child?"
She shook her head: "Staying for a few days is fine, but staying for a month is not."
Jiang Yanni's whole demeanor dimmed, and she muttered, "Other families don't let their married daughters stay here, but we're not afraid of you staying here. What's wrong with you staying a few more days?"
Even though it was Chinese New Year, Jiang Jianni didn't want to sigh, but she couldn't help but sigh anyway: "Because I got married."
“I need to take care of our family, and I also need to take care of my and your brother-in-law’s little family.”
Seeing that Jiang Yanni was about to protest, she pinched her mouth again, like a little chick:
"Okay, okay, this doesn't look good anymore."
"Although I can't stay at home for long, you can come to see me."
"Once your brother-in-law and I move to our new house, we'll save a room just for you, okay? You can stay as long as you want then."
Jiang Yanni's eyes lit up immediately, and she wanted to pinky swear with Jiang Jianni: "You said it! Whoever lies will become a puppy."
Yang Yuemei yelled from the window, "What are you dawdling about? Hurry up and come up!"
Jiang Haibing ran down to carry Lu Xiangyang up.
Jiang Jianni quickly stopped him: "We still need to visit Grandpa and Grandma for the New Year, so let's not go upstairs yet."
Jiang Yanni eagerly raised her hand: "I'll go too! I'll go with you."
Jiang Haiyang hesitated for a moment, then said, "I'll go with you too."
Jiang Haibing glared at the two of them: "What are you two doing getting involved? Go back, I'll take them with me."
When he got angry, Jiang Haiyang and Jiang Yanni immediately became as quiet as quails and obediently carried their things upstairs.
Turning to Jiang Jiani and Lu Xiangyang, he said, "Xiangyang is not able to move around easily right now. If you ask me, it's fine if you two don't go to pay New Year's visits this year. It's not like you won't have the chance in the future."
"But Mom disagreed, insisting that it was one thing at a time."
"In the first year of your marriage, you should at least visit your relatives."
Jiang Jianni chuckled: "Just tell me honestly, has something happened again?"
"When Haiyang and Yanni first saw me, their eyes were red, and they looked so aggrieved. I don't believe they missed me."
Jiang Haibing glanced at her and said, "Just mind your own business. You don't need to worry about things at home."
Jiang Jianni pushed Jiang Haibing aside and shoved Lu Xiangyang away, saying, "Since I don't need to worry about it, we don't need to pay New Year's visits. Let's go now."
Jiang Haibing reached out and grabbed the wheelchair, speechless, and said, "Fine, fine, I'll talk to you, I'll talk to you, okay? I'm scared of you, alright?"
