Chapter 19 Nameless Fire

Chapter 19 Nameless Fire

Grandma Jiang's face turned from pale to red, then white, then green. Her lips moved for a long time before she finally said in a trembling voice, "Jiang Jianni! That's your third uncle!"

Jiang Jianni said coolly, "If he weren't my third uncle, I wouldn't be helping him."

She looked at Grandma Jiang with a grin: "Grandma, what do you think of my idea? Isn't it great?"

Grandma Jiang really wanted to say "You're such a jerk!" but she was also afraid that Jiang Jianni would actually do something that would ruin her third son's life.

He was furious, and between heavy breaths, he could only glare fiercely at his eldest daughter-in-law: "What are you all standing there for? Get out of here!"

"It's all because of all this mess in your family."

“If it weren’t for all this mess in your family, Jia Ni wouldn’t have blamed her third uncle.”

Aunt Jiang was wronged.

This whole thing was clearly started by that old hag.

If Jiang Jiani hadn't said anything, she wouldn't have known that this old hag had previously wanted Jiang Jiani to give her son-in-law to her Yanfen.

She didn't believe that the old woman was doing it for Jiang Yanfen's own good.

She herself said that Jiang Jianni was too stubborn and disobedient, and she felt that she couldn't control her. She was afraid that she wouldn't be able to order her around in the future, so she wanted Jiang Jianni to find a capable son-in-law to give to her own Yanfen.

That old hag only cares about her third son's family.

If it weren't for the fact that the third son's daughter was too young, that old hag would definitely have made Jiang Jianni give up her son-in-law to the third son's daughter. How could Jiang Yanfen have gotten a chance?

Now things are even worse; the already strained relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law has been exacerbated.

In front of Yang Yuemei and Jiang Jiani, it was difficult to say anything to her mother-in-law, but Aunt Jiang was anything but polite to her own daughter:

"What are you looking at, you brat? Put down the knife and come back with me right now!"

"Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough?"

Looking at Jiang Yanfen, who was bewildered and had injured her neck, Jiang Jianni couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy.

He raised the megaphone and said to his aunt, "Sister Yanfen is injured, so she shouldn't leave tonight. Auntie, you don't mind, do you?"

Aunt Jiang certainly had objections, but Jiang Jiani never played by the rules, and she was afraid that this girl would do something that would affect her family.

She quickly forced a smile and said, "No objection, no objection, of course no objection. You sisters should spend more time together."

After Aunt Jiang left with Grandma Jiang, Jiang Jianni pushed Jiang Yanfen, who didn't know what to do but stayed behind, into her room: "Yanni, apply medicine to Sister Yanfen, so it doesn't get infected."

Jiang Yanni responded crisply, "Sister Yanfen, come with me."

Jiang Yanfen wrung her hands together, her face a mix of pain, embarrassment, and relief, like a palette of colors: "Jia Ni, I'm sorry, I never expected my mother to do this..."

Jiang Jianni: "...It's okay, I know it has nothing to do with you."

When Jiang Yanfen and Jiang Yanni entered the room, they couldn't help but whisper an apology again.

Jiang Jianni couldn't hold back any longer and said, "Sister Yanfen, I'm not trying to criticize you, but when it comes to marriage, if you really don't want to listen to your parents, then don't care about their opinions."

"If you don't listen to them, at most they'll just say some harsh things, they won't kill you."

"If they really hit you, you can call the police."

“It’s a new society now, and they don’t dare to beat their children to death like they used to when they were disobedient.”

"You'll be living your own life from now on. If you keep listening to them, do you think they'll care whether you're doing well or not?"

Jiang Yanfen kept her head down and remained silent.

She's the kind of quiet, reserved person who's hard to talk to, doesn't like to express herself, and doesn't make demands.

When Jiang Jiani was little, she played with her. When she heard her stomach growling, she asked her if she was hungry, but she didn't say a word.

Jiang Jianni was immediately discouraged when she saw her deadpan appearance.

The person involved doesn't even consider their own future, so why should she, an outsider, worry about it?

Forget it, she's good enough that she takes care of herself.

Only Jiang Jiani and Yang Yuemei remained in the living room. Yang Yuemei was somewhat uneasy: "Your dad isn't home. He'll be furious if he finds out how you treated your grandma."

Jiang Jianni: "My dad got angry last time, but I didn't see him get angry at me."

Jiang's father is usually a quiet, easy-going, and kind-hearted person, but he is actually very capable when it comes to important matters.

She strongly suspected that Jiang's father must have said or done something when he sent Jiang's grandmother away last time, which would have caused Jiang's grandmother to cause trouble when Jiang's father was working overtime and there were only three women at home.

Yang Yuemei still looked worried: "Sigh, your grandma did something wrong."

"But she's still your grandmother. What will you do in the future if you do this?"

“When you go to your grandma’s house for Chinese New Year, she’ll definitely nag you again.”

"You can't act like this in front of so many people."

"Sigh, you really need to change your quick temper..."

Jiang Jianni was furious and kicked the sofa next to her: "You blame me for being too stubborn? How dare you blame me for being too stubborn?"

She spoke rapidly, giving Yang Yuemei no chance to refute her:

"If you, as a mother, were even slightly responsible and could protect your own child, would I need to be so stubborn?"

“Look at how your aunt and third aunt treat their children, and then look at how you treat us.”

"Even if the aunt and the third aunt are very sexist, they will still stand up for their daughters if they are bullied."

"But what about you? All you do is make me apologize to others, regardless of whether I'm right or wrong."

"Don't I know that girls with a gentle temperament are more likable?"

"But if I don't stand up for myself, how can I survive? I would have been bullied to death long ago!"

Jiang's father was decisive and resourceful, but like many fathers at that time, he basically didn't care about family matters except for making money.

Unless it's something as serious as being sick and dying, I don't usually concern myself with my child's affairs.

Jiang's mother managed all the affairs of the Jiang siblings.

Jiang's mother is not only gentle-tempered, but also easily influenced. She is very considerate of others, but this "others" definitely does not include her own children.

Not only was she at a loss for what to do, she also cared about her reputation and was afraid of offending people.

They always admit their mistakes first, especially when it comes to their children. When someone comes to their door, they don't care about the details and they immediately apologize to their own child.

With such parents, Jiang Haibing and Jiang Jiani gradually became tougher in order to avoid being bullied.

Because they know that if they are bullied, they can only rely on themselves; they can't rely on their parents.

Even after their younger siblings were born, the siblings stood up for them, often helping them fight and argue in the streets.

This also led Jiang Haiyang and Jiang Yanni to prefer following their older brothers and sisters from a young age.

Yang Yuemei knew nothing about any of this.

She just felt much more relaxed.

Little did she know that in her children's eyes, she was actually an irresponsible mother.

The blow was so devastating that she saw stars and her head was spinning.

She swayed and asked tremblingly, "You...you think I'm not as good as your aunt and your third aunt?"
