Chapter 51 Help investigate Wang Jianguo

"Hmph, what are you afraid of now?" Uncle Liu snorted coldly and looked at everyone.

Everyone's face changed drastically, and the leader kept nodding and bowing to apologize. Seeing everyone's expressions, Uncle Liu didn't want to say anything more, and simply waved his hand to let them go.

Seeing Uncle Liu's gesture, several people fled in panic.

Li Mu looked at Uncle Liu with a scrutinizing look in his eyes.

"Just ask whatever you want to ask." Uncle Liu didn't even raise his head. He found a seat and sat down. He squinted his eyes and sipped the wine in his hand.

Li Mu, now full of doubts, asked without thinking: "Who are you? Why are they so afraid of you?"

"Hmph, those are all things that happened when we were young. Just the reputation is still spreading outside. It's not worth mentioning." Uncle Liu said casually without any concern.

Hearing Uncle Liu's words, Li Mu's brows furrowed even tighter, so tight that they almost pinched a fly to death.

He understood that Uncle Liu did not want to reveal what he did, but based on Li Mu's experience, his status in the underworld must be quite high, he just no longer cared about anything.

Li Mu saw Uncle Liu drinking all the wine by himself, so he quietly made a portion of grilled fish for one person and brought it to Uncle Liu, saying in a low voice: "Don't just drink and eat some food. If it's not enough, tell me and I'll make more for you."

...

...

Seeing the delicious grilled fish Li Mu brought in front of him, Uncle Liu swallowed unconsciously. He had only planned to have a drink, but the aroma made him feel hungry.

Some even couldn't wait to take out their chopsticks and taste it.

While eating, he kept nodding his head in approval of Li Mu's cooking skills.

While Uncle Liu was busy eating, customers came one after another to eat the grilled fish, attracted by the aroma.

Li Mu had originally changed the location, not sure whether he could sell out, and he did not expect that the place would have such an astonishing flow of customers at night. They were all workers who came here to chat after their night shift.

Even though we had increased the amount of ingredients yesterday, they were still sold out in less than three hours. One table even ordered two extra grilled fish.

Looking at Li Mu's income which was twice as much as yesterday, Li Mu estimated that the food might need to double again, but he might not be able to handle it all by himself.

After Uncle Liu finished eating, he put the money on the table and was about to get up and go home. Li Mu called him from behind: "Uncle, wait a minute, I... need your help with something."

Hearing what Li Mu said, Uncle Liu was about to refuse. After all, he was just an old man who grew flowers and planted grass at home every day. How could he be of any help to Li Mu?

But as the saying goes, one who eats someone else's food is soft-hearted, and one who takes someone else's money is obliged to take it.

Uncle Liu still sat down and watched Li Mu's busy figure. He became more curious about Li Mu's recent performance. He looked at Li Mu with deep eyes and murmured in his heart.

"What's wrong with this kid recently? Why has he changed so much? The ferocity of his fight just now is no less than mine back then!"

Uncle Liu saw his younger self through Li Mu. He was also as fierce in fighting as Li Mu. Later, some accidents happened at home, so he retreated behind the scenes and no longer got involved in anything. However, the gangsters on this street still respected him very much.

I guess Li Mu must have seen through it, but what exactly does this guy want to hear from me?

By the time Li Mu finished his work, it was almost an hour later. In order not to let Uncle Liu wait too long, Li Mu didn't pack anything. He took out a bottle of wine and a plate of side dishes from the car and walked towards Uncle Liu.

"Uncle Liu, would you like a drink?" he said, shaking the bottle in his hand.

Uncle Liu didn't say anything, but pointed to his wine to indicate that he still had some.

When he got closer, Li Mu caught a glimpse of the money Uncle Liu had put on the table, raised his eyebrows and said, "Uncle Liu, you are too polite. If it weren't for your help today, I would have been in jail tonight. Why don't you give me a chance to treat you to a meal?"

"Let's put things in perspective. The money that's due must still be paid. Come on, kid. You must have something you want to ask. Why don't you just say it?"

Knowing that Uncle Liu was a straightforward person, Li Mu stated his purpose directly without any hesitation.

"Uncle, you seem to have some connections in this town. I want to ask you about someone. Can you help me find him? If you need me in the future, I will definitely help you."

Hearing Li Mu say this, Uncle Liu narrowed his eyes and looked him up and down for a long time, as if trying to confirm whether Li Mu was this person. Why did he feel like a different person?

After all, he had seen the world, so Uncle Liu didn't say much. He just said one word: "Speak!"

"Wang Jianguo." Li Mu lowered his voice and whispered in Uncle Liu's ear.

Hearing this name, Uncle Liu was a little stunned. He frowned and said, "Why do you want to find out about this person? What is your purpose?"

Li Mu knew that Uncle Liu would have questions, so he didn't intend to hide it from him, and said directly: "The hatred for killing my father is irreconcilable, is that enough!"

Uncle Liu was a little shocked when he heard Li Mu say that. Uncle Liu had heard about Li Mu's past from the neighbors nearby, but what everyone said was clearly an accidental death. How come Li Mu turned it into a revenge for his father's murder?

Uncle Liu was silent for a while and did not respond. Li Mu continued:

"Uncle, I'm not doing anything, and I won't do anything illegal. I just want to know how this person is doing now, and how he has lived so peacefully for twenty years."

Hearing what Li Mu said, Uncle Liu whispered, "I can ask for you. You can't do anything stupid. Child, you have such a lovely daughter now. You must cherish her. Don't wait until you regret it before it's too late."

Li Mu saw that Uncle Liu agreed and nodded.

I silently poured myself a glass of wine and looked at the moonlight, not knowing what I was thinking.

Seeing that the two had almost finished their conversation, Uncle Liu stood up and said goodbye.

Li Mu didn't know how long he stared at the sky until the cup in his hand was empty. When he wanted to drink more, there was no more.

He simply packed up the stall and leisurely pushed the cart home.

When Li Mu got home, Lin Wan and Ruoruo had already packed up and were ready to rest. Afraid that Li Mu would be hungry at night, they left a few big steamed buns and braised pork in the pot for him.

Li Mu could still force a smile and face his family in his best state at home, but when he was alone, everything that happened today kept flashing through his mind like a projector.

Li Mu was so heartbroken that he could not breathe. If it were not for chance, his parents' death might have remained a secret, and he, Li Mu, would never know the truth.
