Chapter 9 Admiration

The two of them lay by the stream, looked at the night sky and rested for a while, then went home with the eel.

The next morning, before it was fully light, Zhou Qiang stood at the door of Li Mu's house and shouted towards the inner room. Li Mu was so angry that he picked up a broom and walked towards Zhou Qiang.

Zhou Qiang was so scared that he ran around the yard, still shouting: "Brother, didn't you ask me to come here earlier?"

Li Mu stood still, rubbed his brows, gritted his teeth and said: "I asked you to come earlier, but I didn't ask you to come so early. Also, stop shouting, your sister-in-law and niece are still sleeping."

"Oh, I see." Zhou Qiang pursed his lips and said reluctantly.

Looking at the rising sun, Li Mu sighed and said to Zhou Qiang, "Have you had breakfast?"

Zhou Qiang shook his head woodenly.

"Come here, help me light the fire, I'll make breakfast." Seeing that Zhou Qiang hadn't eaten breakfast, Li Mu turned and went into the kitchen, preparing to make breakfast for several people.

When Zhou Qiang heard that Li Mu was going to make breakfast, his face was full of fear, but he still followed Li Mu obediently.

After hesitating for a while, Zhou Qiang couldn't help but ask, "Brother, are you sure you want to make breakfast?"

...

...

Li Mu raised his eyebrows and said nothing. He just kneaded the dough silently, preparing to make some white flour buns today and eat them with last night's leftovers.

Seeing that Li Mu did not respond to him, Zhou Qiang felt bored and quietly made a fire by the side.

After a while, Zhou Qiang smelled the aroma of rice emanating from the stove. He swallowed unconsciously and looked at Li Mu with eyes full of admiration.

After the steamed buns were ready, Li Mu left four for Ruoruo and Lin Wan and placed them in the steamer to keep them warm. He took the rest to the yard and ate the leftovers with Zhou Qiang.

Zhou Qiang looked at the plump white buns made by Li Mu and couldn't wait to take a bite. After eating the fragrant and soft buns, Zhou Qiang kept giving Li Mu a thumbs up and praised him, "Oh my god, brother, where did you go for further studies? You cook so deliciously now. Why didn't I know this before?"

Li Mu laughed and teased: "There's nothing I can do. My wife needs to be supported, and you don't have one."

When Zhou Qiang heard what Li Mu said, he suddenly felt that the steamed bun in his mouth was not tasty anymore. He wanted to vomit but couldn't, and the bun was stuck in his throat.

He rolled his eyes and ate sullenly, as if he mistook the steamed bun in front of him for Li Mu. He ate until the bun was almost out of his throat before he stopped.

Li Mu slapped Zhou Qiang on the head, and scolded him with a smile: "Eat slowly, you are starving to death. I will cook for you when I make money."

Zhou Qiang touched his head and smiled naively.

After breakfast, the two men carried the eels in the bucket to the place where Li Mu had set up his stall yesterday, waiting for customers to come forward and ask about the price.

I don't know how long I waited, but no one came forward to ask the price. Just when Zhou Qiang was about to lose his patience, the lady who came to Li Mu to buy eels yesterday came forward with a smile on her face and said, "Why are you here so early today? I guess it will take a while for everyone to leave."

Li Mu smiled and said, "Yes, I want to see if I can sell it out early so I can go home to be with my wife and kids."

Hearing what Li Mu said, the elder sister laughed and said, "Come here, young man, weigh another five kilograms for me. After my husband ate it yesterday, he praised it repeatedly and said it was not bad. He was much more energetic to pay the public grain last night."

Zhou Qiang heard the two people chatting so enthusiastically and watched silently from the side.

It was not until more and more customers came forward to buy that Zhou Qiang realized that Li Mu was really making money as he said.

In less than two hours, all the eels in the three buckets were sold out. Looking at the bulging bag of change in Li Mu's trouser pocket, Zhou Qiang was almost stunned.

Li Mu looked around and saw that there were only a few smaller eels left in the bucket, so he asked Zhou Qiang to clean up a bit and went home.

On the roadside, the two men counted the money they earned today, which was more than 800 yuan. Li Mu took Zhou Qiang to the supply and marketing cooperative and bought several kilograms of pork and ribs, as well as canned food, malted milk and other expensive things.

Li Mu saw a goose yellow skirt in the supply and marketing cooperative and thought it was very suitable for Lin Wan. He pointed at the dress and asked about the price.

"Ten dollars." The clerk raised his head, glanced and said.

"Okay, then pack this skirt for me, and give me the pair of white shoes on the cabinet, size 36." Li Mu pointed to the skirt hanging on the rack and said.

"Okay, that's 80 bucks."

Li Mu took out 80 yuan from his pocket without hesitation and paid.

Zhou Qiang was staring at Li Mu without blinking. He felt that Li Mu seemed to have changed, but he couldn't tell what had changed.

He just followed Li Mu silently, carrying the packed bags.

When they got home, Li Mu took out two hundred yuan from his pocket and handed it to Zhou Qiang. He also gave half of the things he bought today to Zhou Qiang and said seriously, "Here is two hundred yuan. You will work with me in the future and I will give you some money. Keep the money and don't spend it carelessly. You can take some of these back. They are all for Grandma Zhou. Do you hear me?"

Zhou Qiang stared at the money Li Mu handed over, and was in a daze, not in a hurry to take it.

I was shocked and thought, "Oh my god, I really admire Brother Mu. He makes 800 a day, how much money does that make a month? This is much better than me being idle outside. I must work hard with Brother Mu in the future."

Li Mu took the money in confusion and waved it in front of Zhou Qiang, motioning him to take the money. Seeing that Zhou Qiang didn't react for a long time, Li Mu slapped Zhou Qiang on the head.

Zhou Qiang came back to his senses, took the money with a smile, and said to the things: "Brother, I'm satisfied if you give me the money. I don't want the things. I will buy them for grandma myself."

"Are you stupid? This is for grandma, not for you. Why did you refuse her?" Li Mu glared at Zhou Qiang and said. ,

"Oh, okay. Then I'll leave first. I'll come to see you in the evening." Zhou Qiang carried his things and ran towards home happily. He didn't hesitate to tell Li Mu that he would come again in the evening.

Looking at Zhou Qiang's silly back, Li Mu wanted to kick him again.

Lin Wan had been in the house, watching the two people outside the door, and had not gone out.

Whenever Zhou Qiang and Li Mu get together, nothing good happens. I don't know what they are discussing. I didn't hear clearly what they were talking about outside the door just now. I can only wait for Li Mu to come in and see how he talked to her.

Lin Wan couldn't say that she hated Zhou Qiang, she just felt that Li Mu had led her astray. He was so naive that Li Mu led her into trouble every day. Fortunately, Zhou Qiang had a grandmother, otherwise he would have become a gangster long ago.

When she thought of Grandma Zhou’s kind smile, a faint smile appeared on Lin Wan’s lips. Grandma Zhou was very kind to Lin Wan. Whenever there was something delicious at home, she would share it with Lin Wan and her daughter. She really treated Lin Wan like her own granddaughter.
