Chapter 8: Help You Make Money

Li Mu looked at Lin Wan, whose hair had been tied up by him, with satisfaction, and the smile in his eyes could not be hidden.

However, when Li Mu saw Lin Wan's obvious evasive movements, he still felt a little sour in his heart. Those things that happened back then still caused Lin Wan deep hurt. Now she would subconsciously dodge if anyone came a little closer.

"Wanwan, I have to go out later. Can you help me wash the dishes later?" Li Mu suppressed the discomfort in his heart and spoke softly.

I don’t know if it’s because Li Mu often attacked Lin Wan before, but Lin Wan could clearly sense the strong emotional changes in the man behind her, but Lin Wan didn’t want to say anything.

He just nodded lightly to show that he understood, and then buried his head in eating.

The atmosphere seemed to have returned to the same as last night. The entire table was silent except for the sound of Ruoruo eating meat in big mouthfuls. She said to Li Mu incoherently, "Dad, this meat is so good."

The angry silence between the two was broken by Ruoruo's voice. Li Mu smiled and touched his daughter's head, saying, "It's delicious. Eat more, dear."

Then he picked up the yellow eel soup that he had put aside for Lin Wan to dry, placed it in front of Lin Wan, whose head was almost bent under the table, and said softly, "This bowl is not hot anymore, Wanwan, drink it. You and Ruoruo are too thin, drink more to replenish your body."

"No need." Lin Wan pushed the soup in front of her aside.

Li Mu saw Lin Wan like this and understood what was going on. He pretended to be a little impatient and said, "If you don't want to drink it, just pour it out. I'm full."

...

...

After saying that, he dropped his bowl and chopsticks, picked up the bucket at the door, and walked towards the river.

Hearing the sound of dishes falling, Lin Wan looked up, only to see Li Mu slamming the door and leaving.

Lin Wan shook her head, a wry smile appeared on the corner of her mouth, she silently took the soup that Li Mu had served and drank it in small sips.

But I was thinking, "Can't I pretend for just one day this time?"

————————————————-

Li Mu, who was hiding at the door, looked through the window and saw Lin Wan drinking soup in small sips. He raised his eyebrows with some satisfaction.

"Sure enough, I still have to take some special measures to make Lin Wan drink the soup obediently, otherwise she won't drink a single sip."

I secretly decided to do this from now on. But what Li Mu didn't expect was that his thoughts like this would only push Lin Wan further and further away, and even make her hate him more and more.

It was late at night and there were still few people on the road. Li Mu was alone, concentrating on catching eels.

"Brother Mu, what are you doing sneaking around this river? Are you thinking of something bad?"

Li Mu raised his head and looked along the shore, only to see a scoundrel-like man approaching from a distance. His white shirt buttons were unbuttoned, revealing a vest with some holes inside. He walked quickly towards him with a worried look on his face.

"It's you, Qiangzi, where have you been?" After seeing the person in front of him clearly, Li Mu said with a smile.

The young man in front of him is still the same as he was back then. Zhou Qiang sees him as a ruffian and a gangster, but he never dares to do anything illegal. He just goes around drinking and playing cards with Li Mu when he has nothing to do. In his previous life, Li Mu left alone after losing his wife and daughter, and he was by his side during the most difficult days.

Unfortunately, in his previous life, Zhou Qiang was set up and owed a lot of money. The debt collectors chased him to the home of his grandmother, who he depended on for support. The old woman died. Unable to bear the blow, he hanged himself.

Looking at Zhou Qiang who was still alive and well, Li Mu decided that in this life he must not let Zhou Qiang be like in his previous life. However, he died at the age of just over 20, without even having a wife. In the previous life, many young men in their early twenties were just at the age when flowers were just beginning to bloom.

Zhou Qiang walked closer and saw Li Mu standing on the shore, and hurried forward as if to pull Li Mu up.

Before Zhou Qiang could make a move, Li Mu immediately said, "I'm not upset. I'm catching eels."

Hearing Li Mu say this, Zhou Qiang looked at him strangely, covered his hands and laughed to himself, "No, brother, you didn't ask me to go out with you all day today, so you're just picking up stuff here?"

After saying that, he did not forget to reach out and pull Li Mu up.

Seeing Zhou Qiang like this, Li Mu knew that he might deserve a beating again. He flexed his fingers and prepared to come out of the river.

Before Li Mu could make a move, Zhou Qiang felt a chill on his spine. He cleared his throat, looked at Li Mu seriously and said, "Brother, I won't laugh anymore. What are you doing with this yellow eel? Are you going to roast it? Do you want my help?"

Li Mu rolled his eyes and said to Zhou Qiang, "Don't worry about it. Come down. I'll help you make money."

After hearing what Li Mu said, Zhou Qiang didn't ask any further questions. He just took off his shoes and went into the river to help.

I have to say, two people working together can make things much faster. A bucket was full in less than half an hour. Li Mu was still a little unsatisfied, so he decided to let Zhou Qiang go home and get a few more buckets, and then take Zhou Qiang to the market early tomorrow morning.

Although Zhou Qiang was confused, he would do whatever Li Mu said.

After another two hours of back and forth work, Zhou Qiang was exhausted. He lay on the shore, gasping for breath and said, "Oh my god, catching an eel is so tiring. Brother, we should go have a drink instead."

"Drink, drink, drink. All you think about all day is drinking. No more drinking in the future. Follow me and I will help you make money for grandma. Do you hear me?" Li Mu, who was sitting nearby, raised his hand and slapped Zhou Qiang on the head.

An extremely loud slapping sound was heard at this quiet riverside.

Zhou Qiang covered his head in pain and whispered to Li Mu, "I know, what are we going to do to make money?"

"Don't worry about this. Come find me at five o'clock tomorrow morning. If I don't see you tomorrow morning, you'll be beaten." Li Mu looked at Zhou Qiang with a warning look.

Hearing this, Zhou Qiang nodded quickly to show that he understood.

Zhou Qiang is not afraid of anything else except being beaten by Li Mu. The two grew up together. Their parents died when they were young. Li Mu grew up by eating at other people's homes and staying at Zhou Qiang's house from time to time. Li Mu is like a half-brother to Zhou Qiang.

Every time Li Mu beat him, Grandma Zhou would just smile and say, "Well done, Qiangzi, if you still don't listen in the future, let your brother Li Mu teach you a lesson."

From childhood to adulthood, Zhou Qiang had been playing a lot. No matter what he did outside, he would follow Li Mu happily. He would do whatever Li Mu did. If Li Mu didn't allow him to do something, he would basically obey after being beaten by Li Mu.

In Zhou Qiang's heart, no matter what Li Mu did, it was right, and he just needed to follow him.

It was the same. After Li Mu left in his previous life, Zhou Qiang seemed to have lost his backbone, which led to the tragedy.
