Chapter 67: Top Scorer in College Entrance Examination

Chapter 68 Top Scorer in College Entrance Examination

Fang's mother rolled her eyes at her daughter. "What do you know when you live in the school dormitory every day? During the time when you were away, Xiao Ning came to talk to me whenever she had nothing to do, and occasionally helped me with some work, unlike you who just sleeps in when you get home."

Looking at Wen Ning sitting beside him with a faint smile, Fang Qing felt as if all his little secrets had been exposed by his mother, so he quickly winked at his mother, signaling her to stop talking.

But Fang's mother seemed to be addicted. On one hand, she asked Fang Qing to wash the fruit, and on the other hand, she started to pull Wen Ning and talk about the embarrassing things that Fang Qing did when he was a child.

She complained about stealing goose eggs and being chased by geese, falling into a hole while skating on the glacier, and helping her cat fight with someone else's dog. Fang Qing came out with some fruit and interrupted her mother's complaints.

Fang's mother talked to Wen Ning for a while, then got up to prepare the meal, letting Fang Qing and Wen Ning talk first.

The two of them felt a little awkward when they were alone again. Wen Ning put down the fruit in his hand and said, "I came here this time to borrow the book you had earlier."

Fang Qing heaved a sigh of relief when he heard this, and led Wen Ning to his small bookcase, "Everything is here, just take whatever you need."

"But you have an exam tomorrow, and reading these books...will it affect the exam?"

Wen Ning smiled, "I'll read it after I finish the exam. I guess my house will be very busy after I finish the exam, and I won't have time to borrow books."

Fang Qing did not doubt him and enthusiastically introduced several interesting books that she had read before and stuffed them all at once to Wen Ning, "Is that enough? If not, I'll find you a few more."

Wen Ning nodded helplessly, "Come again next time."

After sending Wen Ning to the door, Fang Qing felt that he should say something, so he clenched his fist and shouted, "Come on! Waiting for your good news!"

Wen Ning turned around and smiled brightly, nodded, and strode away.

The college entrance examination ended successfully.

Different from the worried parents waiting outside the examination halls, Fang Qing started his summer vacation life comfortably.

In the blink of an eye, more than half a month passed, and the day came when the test results were announced. Fang Qing wanted to ask Wen Ning how many points he had got, but he was afraid of running into Aunt Wen, so he could only ride his bike and pretend to pass by the Wen family's door.

Not long after, Wen Ling came to the door under the pretext of returning a book.

"Qingqing, my brother might be the top scorer!"

Fang's mother was also excited when she heard the news, "Really? How many points did your brother get in the exam?"

Wen Ling looked proud, "729. When we checked the scores, we thought we had heard it wrong. We checked it three times before we were sure. My brother is definitely the first. We just don't know which university he will be admitted to!"

Fang Qing took a long time to react, "Sure enough, he is not human. He got full marks in almost every subject. By the way, where is your brother? Why can't I see him?"

Wen Ling curled her lips and said, "The results are out! The county and the TV station know about it and are interviewing us now!"

That night, Fang Qing saw the interview of Wen Ning on TV. The gentle boy faced the camera calmly and answered the reporter's questions fluently, which made Fang's mother in front of the TV praise him endlessly.

"Although Sister Wen has a bad temper, she has raised her son very well. If I had a son like her, I would wake up happily every day!"

But when Fang Qing looked at the pictures on TV, his face suddenly turned pale.

Just now, as she was watching TV, some distant memories suddenly emerged in her mind: the young man being interviewed, the overwhelming white papers, Wen's crying mother, and the huge headline "God is jealous of his talent"...

Fang Qing's breathing became rapid and he quickly ran back to the house to calm himself down.

What happened to the scene just now? How could she have such a memory? Did she forget it again?

Fang Qing was puzzled and went to bed early after dinner. The moonlight outside the window poured down and slowly enveloped Fang Qing's head, but Fang Qing frowned in his sleep.

Fang Qing felt like she was back in the white fog, but this time the person she saw was not herself, but Wen Ning.

In the dream, Wen Ning was being interviewed on TV. Then the scene changed and he followed a group of people into a green mountain and stopped beside a deep green pool.

Fang Qing saw Wen Ning and those teenagers playing and frolicking by the water, and then jumping into the water one by one. Wen Ning was swimming in the water like a fish, but something unexpected happened suddenly.

A young man suddenly started thrashing about. Wen Ning and his companions quickly swam over to rescue him. Wen Ning dove into the water to untie the waterweed that was wrapped around the young man's feet, but when he surfaced, he was kicked back in. Then, he ran out of breath and sank completely to the bottom of the water...

"Wen Ning!" Fang Qing sat up suddenly, gasping for breath. His whole body was shaking because of the dream he just had.

No, no, how could such a terrible thing happen? It's just my imagination. Isn't Wen Ning fine?

Fang Qing gasped heavily, comforted himself and slowly lay back down, but he couldn't fall asleep afterwards.

She didn't understand why she had such a dream, but she couldn't calm down when she thought about Wen Ning getting into trouble. She simply sat up, turned on the desk lamp, spread out the rice paper, and practiced calligraphy.

Fang Qing held the brush with trembling hands and wrote three or four large sheets of paper in one breath. Only then did he calm down. Putting down the brush, Fang Qing looked at the pale sky outside the window and let out a long breath.

"Let's go see him and give him some advice."

After making up his mind, Fang Qing changed his clothes, washed up, prepared breakfast for his parents, then opened the door and went out.

Fang Qing's house is not far from Wen Ning's house. You can see the alley where Wen's house is located by walking across the street.

At this time, there was already a fried dough stick stall on the street, and people were queuing in a long line to buy breakfast.

Fang Qing walked into the alley and happened to see Wen's mother carrying a basket to buy vegetables. She subconsciously wanted to hide, but there was no shelter around her and Wen's mother had turned around and saw her.

"Fang Qing? What are you doing here?" Mother Wen looked at Fang Qing with scrutiny.

Since that unpleasant incident, Fang Qing has never seen Aunt Wen again. She knows that Aunt Wen dislikes her, but since she has met her, she still has to observe the proper etiquette.

"Hello, Aunt Wen, I...I'm here to buy fried dough sticks. The fried dough sticks at the entrance of the alley are delicious."

Mother Wen nodded in confusion, not wanting to say anything more to Fang Qing. She was about to go out with the basket of vegetables, but she stopped when she passed by Fang Qing.

"Fang Qing, Aunt Wen was rude before, don't take it personally. But, not letting you play together is for your own good. Playing together every day will delay your studies, don't you think?"

Fang Qing nodded, "I know you mean well, it's okay, don't worry about it."

Mother Wen was very satisfied with Fang Qing's tact, nodded and left. Fang Qing breathed a sigh of relief, and when Mother Wen walked away, he immediately came to the door of the Wen family and whispered across the wall, "Wen Ling, Wen Ling!"

The door opened and Wen Ling came out rubbing her eyes. "Who is it? Qingqing? Why are you here? Come in!"

Fang Qing couldn't wait any longer, so he grabbed her hand and asked anxiously, "Where's your brother? I have something urgent to discuss with him."
