In the blink of an eye, three quarters of the military training for freshmen at Capital University has passed. Under Zhou Shuyi's high-intensity training, the students have made rapid progress. At least in terms of military posture, marching and formation movements, at first glance, they are no different from those of regular troops.
Today is the weekend and there is no training. Zhou Shuyi has nothing to do, so he walks to the kitchen of the office cafeteria with his hands behind his back to see his old subordinates.
Hong Tao was once Zhou Shuyi's best special forces sniper, highly regarded by him. But who would have thought that after a bout of illness, he became a 200-pound overweight man, forcing him to retire. Zhou Shuyi understood Hong Tao's reluctance to leave the army and asked Leng Xing to assign him to the kitchen squad.
The office cafeteria was having dumplings for lunch today. Xiao Hu had just brought the dumpling flour out of the storage room when he saw Zhou Shuyi approaching with his hands behind his back. Zhou Shuyi had been visiting Hong Tao frequently over the past two years, and with so many visits, he was familiar with everyone in the kitchen. Xiao Hu wasn't shy about seeing him and greeted him with a smile:
"Hey, Captain Zhou, you're here to see our squad leader again?"
Zhou Shuyi nodded: "Well, where's Taozi?"
"The squad leader is washing vegetables in the back. Captain Zhou, we're having dumplings for lunch today. They're stuffed with fennel. Our squad leader's fennel filling is the best in the entire team! Why don't you stay here for lunch and eat in our cafeteria?"
Zhou Shuyi kicked Xiao Hu and cursed, "Get lost! You know I don't eat fennel, yet you're asking me nonsense! Are you poor or not?"
Xiao Hu let out an exaggerated "ouch!" and went to work with a smile.
Zhou Shuyi walked around to the back of the operation room and saw two people sitting at the sink with their backs to him, washing vegetables with the faucet running. From the back, they were Xiao Mao and Da Zhou.
Zhou Shuyi was puzzled. Didn't Xiao Hu say Hong Tao was here? Why wasn't he there? Did he go for a run again?
"Xiao Mao, where is your squad leader?"
Xiao Mao turned around and saw that it was Zhou Shuyi. He turned off the faucet, raised his arm to wipe the sweat off his face, and smiled until his eyes narrowed into crescents:
"Oh my God, Captain Zhou, what's that look on your face? Our squad leader is sitting right in front of you, and you can't even see him?"
Zhou Shuyi was anxious: "Bullshit! How can I not see your squad leader's thing? Do you think I'm blind...ah...you you you, what are you doing——?"
The man next to Xiao Mao heard Zhou Shuyi talking, turned off the other faucet, slowly turned around, and looked at Zhou Shuyi happily. That man was not Da Zhou at all, but a thinner Hong Tao.
Hong Tao has lost nearly 60 pounds in the past month, and he looks completely different: his acne and redness have faded, his once full-moon-like face has become more angular, and his features, no longer weighed down by the fat, are finally visible. Hong Tao is actually about the same age as Xiao Hu, and has a handsome appearance, with bright eyes, prominent eye bags, and a mouth that curls upward even when he's not smiling, making him very pleasing.
His upper body, which used to be as fat as a ball, has shrunk significantly, his neck is exposed, and the fat on his belly is only a small one. From the back, he looks very similar to Da Zhou, but he lost too much weight in a short period of time, and the skin on his cheeks, belly and under his arms is a little loose and sagging.
Fatty Hong stood up, wiped his hands, and saluted Zhou Shuyi: "Captain!"
Zhou Shuyi's eyes widened:
"Tao, Taozi? Is it really you? Damn! When I saw you last month, you looked like a pig...er, like a ball. How come you've lost weight so quickly? Are you sick...or did you take some special diet pills? How many times have I told you not to take diet pills randomly? They're harmful to your health, but you just won't listen. What if you get sick from losing weight?"
