Chapter 156

"Mountain ghost? What is it?"

"Mountain ghosts look similar to Chinese people, but their hair and eyes come in all colors, their ears are long and pointed like a donkey's, their skeletons are slender and light, their faces are very beautiful, they like to live in the mountains, and their blood is blue. Some say mountain ghosts are humanoid beasts, while others say they are actually human, but just look a little different from us."

"A long, long time ago, when the master was still a mortal, there were many mountain ghosts in China, living in the Hundred Thousand Mountains. Later, cultivators hunted them on a large scale and almost killed them all. To prevent their race from being extinct, the elders of the mountain ghosts sacrificed their lives and cast a secret spell to teleport all the remaining mountain ghosts to the other side of the mountains and seas. When I was refined by the master, there were no mountain ghosts in China anymore, and I had never seen one with my own eyes. These were all told to me by the master later as strange stories. I remember the master also said that Xiangru was innocent, but he was guilty of possessing a treasure. The mountain ghosts lived deep in the mountains and originally did not compete with the world. It was because their blood was precious that they were coveted by cultivators and almost became extinct!"

Qingshan's heart was in turmoil. How could the mountain ghost described by Tuanzi be so similar to the spirits in Western mythology? Could it be that Seriek was a mountain ghost? That couldn't be right. Apart from his blood, his entire body structure was the same as a human's. How could he have long, pointed ears?

"Tuanzi, is it possible for a mountain ghost to have offspring with a human?"

The golden hall beneath St. Vlad's Hospital was devoid of its usual bustle and extravagance. All the newly born vampires looked nervous, gathering in groups of two or three, afraid to speak loudly for fear of angering Lord Kurtaz. The Lord had been in a bad mood recently, having already tortured and murdered more than a dozen human girls with such brutality and bloodshed that even these monsters, accustomed to the sight of blood, felt their scalps tingling.

Kurtaz's face was as dark as his black suit, and his green eyes shone with a sinister light. He drank the red wine in a single gulp and placed the empty glass on the table. The pale maid took the glass and poured it for Kurtaz. Her hands were shaking so much that some of the wine spilled.

The maid fell to her knees in fear, her whole body shaking like chaff, and she whimpered in fear, unable to utter a complete beg for mercy.

Kurtaz frowned in annoyance and glanced at Mograine. Mograine grinned, revealing a hideous smile. The scars on his face pulled at his skin, making his face even uglier.

"Susan, honey, dinner is ready!"

The huge Rottweiler stared with scarlet eyes, stood up, and slowly walked towards the maid who was lying on the ground, with fishy saliva dripping from the corners of its mouth.

The Rottweiler approached the maid, opened its bloody mouth and bit into her thigh, tearing off a large piece of flesh and chewing it savagely. The maid screamed in pain and struggled to run, but the Rottweiler, as strong as a calf, pounced on her from behind, lying on top of her and biting her madly. The woman's shrill howls echoed in the golden hall.

After a while, the wailing gradually weakened, leaving only the Rottweiler's chewing sound and the crunching sound of bones being crushed.

The blonde maid standing in the corner looked at her companion's eyes that were still open, covered her abdomen, bit her lips hard, and forced herself not to vomit.

Mux felt sick when she heard Rowena eating, and mocked Mograine in a sarcastic tone:

"Like owner, like pet. Equally rude!"

Mograine used his deformed little hands to wave away a moth flying around him and confronted Mux.

"Hmph, those vampires you transformed only look okay, but they're just for show. They're useless except for consuming our food rations. They can't even see the sun. Compared to them, I'd rather be with my darling Susan!"
