Chapter 21

Chen Qingshan walked into the ward and saw his father lying on the hospital bed.

Chen Jianguo had several bruises on his face and a sore at the corner of his mouth. His left calf was in a plaster cast and suspended above the hospital bed.

Zhang Meiling's factory was close to the hospital. After receiving Zhang Youcai's call, she arrived before Chen Qingshan. Seeing her husband injured like this, she felt heartbroken and angry, and was sitting by the bed wiping her eyes.

Seeing Chen Qingshan coming, Zhang Meiling wiped her tears and said with a nasal voice: "Xiaoshan, why are you here instead of studying at home?"

"Mom, how can I concentrate on studying after such a big thing happened?"

Qingshan came to Chen Jianguo's bed and asked softly, "Dad, how are you?"

Old Chen felt that his bruised face and nose were quite embarrassing in front of his daughter, and he wanted to laugh awkwardly, but he pulled the wound at the corner of his mouth, and he had to hold the laugh back with a "hiss".

Qingshan used his spiritual power to give his father a full body check-up.

Chen Jianguo suffered three most serious injuries, two on his left ribs and one on his left tibia. All of them were fractures but not displaced, so simple external fixation was sufficient.

Aside from these three, the rest were soft tissue injuries. Judging by the bruises, they were caused by being struck with a stick. Fortunately, Chen Jianguo had been well cared for by Qingshan over the past few years, otherwise his condition would have been much more serious.

Chen Qingshan's face turned cold, and anger rose in his heart. When she found out who hurt his father, he would make sure to have his bones broken!

The door of the ward opened and Zhang Youcai walked in carrying a thermos.

Chen Qingshan hurried over, took the kettle, and said to Zhang Youcai gratefully:

"Brother Youcai, thank you so much for what you did today! If it weren't for you and Sister Fen, I don't know how long my dad would have been lying on the ground..."

Zhang Youcai rubbed his hands shyly, revealing an honest and embarrassed look: "Don't say that, Xiaoshan sister. In fact, today's incident is also my fault. I should have gone to pick up the team leader..."

Chen Jianguo coughed quickly, and Zhang Youcai fell silent.

Qingshan's eyes turned and she realized that there was something hidden here. Judging from the expressions of her father and Youcai, they didn't intend to tell her.

Qingshan smiled at Zhang Youcai, moved a chair for him to sit on, and secretly remembered the favor done by Zhang Youcai and his wife.

Qingshan came to Chen's father, gently stroked his side, slowly injected spiritual energy to nourish his cracked bones, and spoke to him to distract him:

"Dad, how did you get hurt?"

Chen Jianguo sighed:

"I was walking home from get off work when my head was suddenly covered. Then I was beaten and kicked. I didn't see anyone from beginning to end, and the people who beat me didn't make a sound, but I could feel that there was more than one person."

Chen Jianguo felt that his injured ribs were not as painful as before, and he even felt warm, like soaking in a hot spring.

He didn't suspect his daughter, thinking that the painkillers he had just taken were working.

The door of the ward opened again and two people came in. The one in front was in casual clothes, in his early thirties, of medium build, with a square face.

Qingshan knew him, he was the criminal police captain of the Municipal Public Security Bureau, Zou Peng.

The person behind Zou Peng was much younger than him. Although he was wearing a police uniform, he looked very gentle.

When Zou Peng saw Chen Qingshan coming, his eyes lit up. "Xiaoshan is here too?"

Chen Qingshan nodded and frowned as he asked, "Brother Zou, why are you here? Did my dad's case alert the police? Is it a major case?"

Chen Qingshan has a 35-year-old soul wrapped in his shell. She really couldn't get used to calling a man in his thirties "uncle". Zhang Meiling told her many times but she just couldn't change.

Fortunately, Zou Peng was a kind-hearted person. He thought it was better to call him "brother" because it made him look younger. So Chen Qingshan called him "brother" and he also called Chen Jianguo "brother", each to his own.

Zou Peng said "Hi" and replied, "No, I came to the hospital to see a patient, and on my way out, I ran into Brother Chen in the emergency room. I notified the local police station, and they dispatched officers immediately. I also visited the scene with Officer Li to see if there was anything I could do to help."

Qingshan: "I see. Thank you so much, Brother Zou and Officer Li. Brother Zou, did you find anything?"

Zou Peng glanced at Chen Jianguo lying on the hospital bed and hesitated. He did have a suspect, but Xiaoshan was young, and if Brother Chen didn't want the child to know, he was afraid that if he said too much, he would be blamed.

Chen Qingshan was angry. They all treated her like a child. She could tolerate her aunt but not her uncle!

Chen Qingshan stared at Zou Peng, his face darkening: "Brother Zou, why are you looking at my dad when I ask you a question?"

Zou Peng's heart skipped a beat, and he stammered incompetently: "Um... ah, there is, there is a suspect."

Zou Peng has been the captain of the criminal police team for several years. He thinks he is good at judging people, but he just can't see through Chen Qingshan.

She looks like a teenage girl, but her every move and gesture clearly shows the aura of an adult. Sometimes the sharpness in her eyes can even scare an old policeman like me, not to mention that she also has mysterious medical skills.

Zou Peng's intuition told him that Chen Qingshan could only be a friend, not an enemy. Although she looked harmless and weak, if anyone touched her reverse scale, the consequences would be very miserable.
