Chapter 22 The Wedding

When Yunqi and his friends arrived home, their parents had already made most of the wedding preparations. They had booked a banquet at a hotel in the local county town, mainly to entertain relatives and friends from both sides, and also invited a few classmates who worked in the area. Everything was kept simple.

The next day was an important day for Sicheng, as the two had agreed to get their marriage certificate that day.

After a series of photos, forms, and medical examinations, they finally received their marriage certificate. When the staff handed it to him, Si Yue just grinned foolishly. Yun Qi tugged at his sleeve, and only then did he remember the bag in his hand. He quickly took out the prepared wedding candies and distributed them to the staff, receiving a wave of blessings.

As they walked out of the service hall with Yunqi in his arms, Sicheng still felt like he was walking on cotton, his heart still pounding. Seeing his silly expression, Yunqi covered his face with his hands, speechless, and said, "Come back to reality, do you know what you're doing?"

"Like what? Like your husband," Si Cheng replied with a serious expression.

"The silly look you were giving me just now was like a foolish son who ran away from a landlord's house." He then burst into laughter.

“If I’m the landlord’s stupid son, then you’re the landlord’s stupid daughter-in-law, known as the landlord’s wife.” After saying that, he chuckled foolishly. Yun Qi rolled his eyes helplessly. “Now I’m finally legal.”

"You still care about these things?"

"Of course I care. I'm officially certified to work now. I used to be a temporary worker, but now I'm finally a permanent employee."

Reaching the car, Si Cheng said to Yun Qi, "Qi Bao, could you help me get that bottle of water from the trunk?"

"I'm so excited, my mouth must be dry." As she spoke, she opened the trunk, and a fragrant scent of roses wafted out. What she saw next was a trunk full of roses. She covered her mouth, too excited to speak, and could only hear her heart pounding.

"Qi Bao, we will definitely be together forever, just like these 999 roses," Si Cheng said as he walked over and put his arms around her waist.

"Yes, I definitely will. Honey, have I ever told you how much I love you?"

"I love you too, my wife!" This was the most romantic thing Si Cheng had ever done in his two lives. In his previous life, Si Cheng would only silently protect Yun Qi under his wings and take on the responsibility of solving the problem of food and clothing. Later, when food became increasingly scarce, he would save most of it for Yun Qi.

Back in the car, Yunqi asked Sicheng to drive to a secluded spot to check for nearby surveillance cameras before going to the trunk to put all the flowers away. "I want to preserve them forever, just like our relationship, for as long as it lasts."

"Let's be like young people today and follow the trend."

"You're making it sound like we're all in our seventies or eighties, but I'm like an eighteen-year-old flower." Yunqi protested immediately after he said that.

We ate Western food, watched a movie, strolled in the park, and even went to the amusement park, recording these happy moments with our phones.

Before they knew it, the wedding day arrived, and the couple greeted their guests early at the hotel entrance.

As relatives and friends gathered, everyone waited with laughter for the wedding ceremony to begin. The wedding emcee was one of Sicheng's cousins. He was responsible for timing the ceremony precisely, drawing the guests' attention with his humorous and interesting words, which kept everyone's eyes on the stage.

When Si Cheng made his dazzling entrance, the wedding ceremony began. Standing on the stage, the groom looked very much like he was on a mission, waiting for his bride to enter. When Yun Qi walked slowly over, arm in arm with her father, his eyes followed Yun Qi closely.

As he took the bride's hand from his father-in-law, he saw that Yun's father's eyes were wet with tears.

Since Si Cheng's parents didn't attend the wedding, his uncle took the stage during the gratitude segment, and Yun's father was deeply moved during his speech. He said to Si Cheng, "I'm marrying you my most precious and beloved daughter. I hope you can love her, cherish her, and protect her as I do. I'm giving you a 100-year warranty; if there's a problem, return her to the factory. Don't try to fix it yourself." Hearing this, Yun couldn't hold back her tears. She turned and hugged her father, who patted her shoulder and said, "You must be happy. As long as your parents are alive, you will always be my little princess."

Upon hearing this, Si Cheng quickly declared that he would dedicate his life to serving Yun Qi and would be open to everyone's scrutiny at any time.

The host quickly joined in, using lighthearted and cheerful words to enhance the already high-spirited atmosphere, keeping the situation under control. He also arranged some lucky draws and games to further enhance the atmosphere, and finally announced the start of the toasting ceremony.

The couple planned to live in the small building in Yunqi. When they first learned about this, Sicheng's uncles advised him to buy another house in town. They offered to lend him money if he didn't have enough, feeling that having the new house in the bride's family home felt like he was marrying into the family. Sicheng persuaded them otherwise. They explained that they were working outside the village, and the new house wouldn't be of much use; it was just a formality, and they no longer cared about such things. Although some relatives were still gossiping, Sicheng ignored them. Only he knew whether life was good or bad; why bother with such things?

After a long day, when Yunqi returned home after seeing off all the guests, she lay on the bed, kicked off her high heels, and didn't even want to remove her makeup. She felt too tired to stand up. Sicheng half-carried, half-lifted her to the bathroom for a quick wash. Both of them were exhausted and fell asleep as soon as they lay down on the bed.

I slept for about two hours when I heard shouts coming from downstairs.

"We haven't even had the wedding night pranks yet, and we can already go into the bridal chamber?"

"That's right, hurry up and come down and tell us about your love story. If you tell us nicely, we might let you off the hook." Several people who were always looking for trouble egged them on from below.

"We thought we could escape this disaster." The two looked at each other and sighed, then walked downstairs helplessly.

The custom of "teasing the newlyweds" is also known as "making a ruckus in the bridal chamber," which means to congratulate the newlyweds with "joyful commotion, the more fun the commotion, the happier they are."

Because of the presence of Yun's father, an elder in the family, the young people who came over didn't dare to cause too much trouble. Yun Qi, being a married woman, not a newlywed, was very familiar with her brothers and sisters. With a little threat or by invoking the elder, everyone dared not go too far. The playful teasing and laughter turned the wedding night pranks into a lively discussion.

Since there were two elders in the family, the group didn't dare to stay out too late. Seeing that it was getting late, they all dispersed.
