If Yunqi and the others heard this news, they would be very surprised, as it was much earlier than they knew the base had been built.
Unbeknownst to them, because their wings were so powerful, they nipped several unstable factors in the bud in the bud. This way, Chief Kuang and his men didn't have to exert themselves to quell these gangs, and could instead focus on resettling refugees and digging up the buried warehouses as soon as possible.
"Now I can feel that the air here is no worse than those so-called natural oxygen bars from before," Yunqi said, taking a deep breath in front of the mountains.
"Without exhaust fumes and numerous factories, once the climate recovers in a few years, it will truly become a pure natural oxygen bar."
"It seems that humanity has committed too many sins and has been consuming the resources of this blue planet. This is also a way for the blue planet to save itself. I just don't know if everyone will still cherish it after this."
There's a saying that goes, "Once the wound heals, the pain is forgotten." Once you get through this tough period, generations later, people will repeat the same old mistakes for the sake of some interests and rights.
Si Cheng was not optimistic about human nature. It had only been a short time since the great disaster, and people's hearts had already begun to waver. If the gang in Majia Village had not been dealt with in time and had been allowed to continue to grow stronger, who knows how many more villages in the vicinity would have suffered as a result.
"We can't worry about all that. I'm content as long as we can protect our little piece of land."
“Let’s protect them together,” Si Cheng said. Although he possessed great strength and the power of the Cloud Rising Space, he lacked ambition and only wanted to protect his family and friends and get through this most difficult period together.
"We've been walking for so long these past two days and haven't found anything else. Could that tiger's territory be that big?" Yun Qi and his companion had already searched the area within a ten-mile radius, and apart from the plains where animals were found, they hadn't discovered anything else.
“We’ve only gone this far. You know, if the area is wide enough, each tiger’s territory can be hundreds of square kilometers, and even the smallest ones are still tens of square kilometers.”
"It's this wide? Does that mean there aren't any large animals in this area?"
"That's not quite right. It's just that we haven't encountered them yet. Like the patch of greenery where the wild duck eggs we found before, the wild ducks living there have probably just temporarily moved away. Maybe we'll see them when we get back."
“We’ve been wandering around here for a few days now, why don’t we go back? Maybe those wild ducks are waiting for us.” As soon as Yunqi heard that the wild ducks might have returned, he thought about catching some to take back.
Si Cheng also felt that there was no point in continuing. This area was nothing but mountains, but wild mushrooms were everywhere. Even if two people worked themselves to death here, they still couldn't pick them all.
"Let's go, grab the slingshot, let's go duck hunting. We can explore further places another time." Seeing that his wife was unusually interested, he was willing to go along with her.
Si Cheng also knew that he hadn't been told how long he would stay here this time, and if he went back late, his family would definitely worry.
No one knew where the flock of wild ducks had hidden before, but they heard their quacking before they even got close.
Yunqi ran forward happily for a while, then slowed down. She slipped a slingshot into Sicheng's hand and quietly walked towards the green plants.
The two had developed a strong rapport from their previous life. They were masters of using slingshots to shoot birds, and although they couldn't hit the target every time, their accuracy was still very high.
"Let's have a competition and see who can hit the most stones." Yunqi walked carefully forward, picking up any smooth stones he saw from the ground and putting them into his small cloth bag.
“Alright, but there has to be some explanation for winning and losing. A simple competition isn’t very motivating. We have to bring out some spoils.” Si Cheng was more direct. He found a few large rocks, crushed them into small pieces, and then picked out suitable ones to hand to Yun Qi.
"So what kind of spoils do you want? How about we have a seafood feast for the winner tonight, and some congee and side dishes for the loser?"
"That won't do. I can't bear to let you watch me feast on meat and fish."
"You talk like you've already won. Why don't you suggest we bet on something?" Yunqi retorted, not wanting to be outdone by his confidence.
"Come here, I'll tell you." Si Cheng beckoned to her.
Yunqi leaned closer out of curiosity, and Sicheng whispered something in her ear. Yunqi's face turned bright red, and she pushed him away.
What are you thinking about all day?
"What can't you think about your wife? Are you planning to lose to me?" Si Cheng originally just wanted to tease her, but now seeing her like this, he really had the idea.
"It's still uncertain who will win or lose. Don't cheat later. If you use force to throw the stones all at once, I will definitely lose. We both have a slingshot and a stone. That's the only way to make it fair."
"Okay, but the loser has to keep their promise and can't cheat." Si Cheng was confident that he could beat her even if he threw stones one by one.
"If I win, you have to catch me a hundred ducks and clean them all." Yunqi realized he hadn't made his request yet, so he quickly stated it as well.
"No problem." Si Cheng gave him an OK sign and began preparing his small stones.
When they got really close to the greenery, they found thousands of wild ducks leisurely catching earthworms and insects under the plants, completely unaware of their arrival.
The two remained silent, gradually widening the distance between them.
They raised their slingshots together, silently counted to three in their minds, and then fired at their targets simultaneously.
The sound of the stone hitting the ducks startled them awake, and they began to flutter about. The two men kept firing their slingshots without rest, repeatedly pulling them back and releasing them. Even they themselves lost count of how many shots they had fired or how many they had hit.
It's unclear whether it's because they aren't as frightening to the wild ducks as tigers, or because they no longer want to move around, but they simply avoided the wild ducks that were shot and moved to another place to continue foraging.
Seeing that the wild ducks had not fled the green area, the two did not chase after them, but began to collect their spoils nearby.
Both of them were careful, specifically targeting the plump wild ducks with their slingshots. Before long, they had gathered all the ducks they had shot together. Some of the ducks that hadn't been hit were still trying to escape, so Yunqi simply took out a large bamboo basket from his spatial storage and stuffed them inside.
"Looks like I won." Si Cheng said smugly, looking at the two obviously different numbers of units.
