Chapter 1 Facing

Huh~

Whew~ Whew~~

Li Xiao took a deep breath and stared at the swaying zombies in front of her.

Although it wasn't the first time I'd seen this kind of monster, I still couldn't help feeling nervous.

Her pretty face was tense, her heart pounding. Her large eyes were filled with tension and unease, but not with fear or hesitation.

Grip the axe tightly and stare intently at the disgusting monster.

Its entire body was rotting and emitting a foul stench; rotten flesh was turned upside down, and some pieces had already fallen off, hanging halfway on its filthy body.

It's unbearable to look at.

Who would have thought that she was a vibrant person before this?

The supermarket manager was glamorous and always had a smile on her face. Her long, curly brown hair was perfect proof of that.

The other two are probably a security guard and a stock clerk, one tall and one short.

The female manager was almost upon him when Li Xiao gripped the axe and swung it at her neck, snapping it instantly.

Great, one problem solved.

Two people on her right moved toward her with a "ho ho" sound, and she quickly went to meet them.

She swung her axe at the shorter man in front of her, but the one behind her reached out to grab her. Li Xiao dodged and swung to the right.

Surprisingly, the tall guy managed to dodge it!

"Huh, what's going on? Why did it dodge?" This is something I've never encountered before.

The shorter woman had already fallen with her neck severed, and the taller woman reached out to attack her again.

Li Xiao could only steady his mind and raise his axe again, this time aiming for the neck. The zombie paused for a moment, then, taking advantage of the opportunity, kicked it in the chest. The kick was powerful, knocking it to the ground. Before it could react, Li Xiao slashed at its head, once, twice.

Finally, the zombie stopped moving.

Li Xiao, panting, pulled out her axe. This zombie was a bit too difficult. Just then, she caught a glimpse of something flashing near the gaping hole in the zombie's head.

"Hmm? What the hell?"

After sifting through the thick, colored, sticky substance, they pulled out a crystal the size of a soybean. It was so small that it was barely visible amidst the brain matter.

She rinsed it with some water, picked it up and held it in her hand. It looked a bit like crystal, but it wasn't transparent and wasn't a perfect circle.

What the heck? How did a stone grow in my brain?

If I don't know what it is, I'll put it away for now and look at it later.

Li Xiao got up, found the cashier, smashed the display screen inside, and destroyed all the wiring, so the surveillance system was no longer working.

This place is just one street away from Li Xiao's residential area, and there are many shops nearby. Even when the apocalypse comes at night, there are still many people on the street.

Even though it's been several days since the apocalypse, hardly anyone comes here.

Those who were able to come out to search for things were those who didn't have much food left. After all, when apocalyptic talk was flying around online, some people scoffed at it.

Some who believed it did, and with a "maybe" mentality, stored up a lot of food and drink. If they ate it slowly, they could probably survive for a while.

Smart people know that sitting idle will lead to depletion of their resources, so they should take advantage of the fact that not many people dare to come out now and collect a large amount of money.

Li Xiao is like that. Even though she had already collected a lot of supplies, she could never have too many because she had her own spatial ability.

Even in a world teeming with monsters, one must still be able to protect oneself.

Relying on yourself is more reliable than relying on anyone else; this is Li Xiao's view.

The apocalypse has just begun, and most people are still hiding at home. Now is the perfect time to collect more supplies while there aren't many people around. Who would complain about the days dragging on?

Li Xiao was initially scared, but gradually she mustered up the courage to go out and kill the lone zombies.

The results were good, and I gradually got the hang of it, and my strength also increased with practice.

At first, we didn't encounter many people when we went out, but later people started coming out one after another to collect supplies.

I've also witnessed robbery, arguments, and even death.

The ugliness of human nature is slowly becoming apparent.

Li Xiao, a single girl, is easily targeted by others. Only by constantly becoming stronger can she avoid being bullied.

Coming to this street to collect them was a well-considered decision.

There are many shops and lots of things here. It's quite a distance from the surrounding residential areas, so it's not easy for people to find out where I live.

This supermarket is about 200 square meters, not very big, but it has a good selection of goods.

There are several residential communities nearby, and quite a few people come to buy things.

With a flick of the hand, the shelves were instantly emptied.

Li Xiao strolled around the supermarket, checking out the snack section, beverage section, groceries section, grains and oils section, seafood section, hygiene products section...

A little bit was left on the outside of each shelf, while the inside was taken away.

The frozen food section and the seafood section were completely empty. There's still electricity now; without it, all this stuff will spoil, so it's better to take it all ourselves.

This is also why Li Xiao traveled so far to this supermarket; it would be a waste to waste it.

Finally, we found the supermarket's warehouse, which was probably just receiving a new shipment; there were many items in the warehouse.

Li Xiao couldn't help but raise the corners of her mouth, her eyes narrowing.

Rice, flour, oil, dried goods, toilet paper, sanitary napkins, instant noodles, biscuits, candy, bottled water... nothing was missed, it was a real bumper harvest.

I stuffed some biscuits, instant noodles, and bottled water into my backpack, grabbed a bag, and headed back.

She retraced her steps, and ahead lay the shops she had already patronized: clothing stores, restaurants, hot pot restaurants…

It's still drizzling today, much lighter than the past few days.

Li Xiao was wearing a transparent raincoat, which was covered in stains, some of which were from sprays from killing zombies.

She wasn't sure if it was because of these things stuck to her, but it smelled really bad. The fact that the zombies weren't chasing her reassured her a lot.

She made her way back to her apartment building without any major incidents. She knew many people were watching her from behind their windows, but she didn't care. She figured they could just go out on their own if they wanted to.
