Chapter 103 Inquiry

There were still six people in the shop across the street, searching for supplies. These three were probably covering the rear.

The woman is fire-type, and the other man is metal-type; both possess offensive abilities and are primarily focused on attack.

As for why this man was there, that's unknown; perhaps that's how it was arranged.

Li Xiao turned around and saw Cheng Shaolin looking at her. She said directly to Cheng Shaolin, "There are 6 people over there, 5 men and 1 woman."

Cheng Shaolin understood that the group wasn't very big; there were fewer than 10 people in it.

He gave Shao Jie a look, and Shao Jie, having seen it all before, didn't know what Cheng Shaolin meant by that look.

Shao Jie asked the three people opposite him, "Hey, where are you guys from? We want to go to the base in Qizhou. Can you tell us some details?"

The three people opposite looked over when they heard what Shao Jie said.

"You're going to the base? You should have said so earlier," the man said with a grin. "We're from the base, just follow us."

"Fatty!" the woman shouted at the man, "You don't even know when they're leaving. They might be in a hurry. We won't be back until tonight."

Shao Jie felt a little uncomfortable when he heard the woman yell at the man, thinking she was being told not to talk.

"Oh, right. I didn't even ask you when you wanted to go," the fat man said apologetically. "Sorry, we won't be back until very late. I was wondering if you wanted to go now, or if you'd like to come back with us?"

Shao Jie looked at Cheng Shaolin, who thought for a moment that it wasn't long before noon, and they would need to rest for a while in the afternoon before setting off again, which would mean it would be evening by then. He nodded.

Shao Jie understood, and turned to the group, saying, "We'll stay with you. We're not familiar with the area, so please look after us."

At this moment, the other man who had been silent spoke up: "It's nothing, it's just on the way."

No wonder you haven't been speaking; your voice is hoarse. It's like you're deliberately speaking in a low voice.

Seeing that none of Cheng Shaolin's group changed their expressions after he finished speaking, he even looked like he had just breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems he cares a lot about what others think of him.

Just then, people came out of the shop. Everyone was carrying large and small bags, and they hurried over.

The man in the lead was taken aback when he saw Cheng Shaolin and his three companions standing together with the three men they had left behind, killing zombies.

He never expected to see other people, and even to be killing zombies with his own people.

The people following behind were also taken aback, not expecting to encounter anyone else.

When the woman saw their group come out, she said to the fat man, "Fatty, you guys hold them off for now, I'll go and meet up with the captain and the others."

Li Xiao and the others saw the woman talking to the man at the head of the group behind her, and the man was listening while glancing in their direction.

A moment later, the man walked towards them, tossed the things he was carrying to the fat man, and said to Cheng Shaolin, "You're coming back to the base with us, right?"

Shao Jie replied, "Yes, we're also going to the base. Let's go with you."

The man nodded. "Then follow us. Our car is over there; we're going to rest at the supermarket up ahead."

"good."

After the man finished speaking, he nodded and left, telling his men to drive over.

The zombies were still coming this way, but with so many superhumans, the clearing was quick. The supplies were loaded into the vehicle, the man gave a hand signal, and they set off.

Cheng Shaolin gestured for Shao Jie to get the car, and then sent a message to Yu Yanbin and the others who were parked in the back, informing them where to meet.

Watching Shao Jie leave, Cheng Shaolin followed behind with Li Xiao and Tian Tian.

Following the direction the man pointed, they soon found the supermarket he had mentioned.

The supermarket isn't big; it's just a small supermarket.

Cheng Shaolin and the others got out of the car and waited for Yu Yanbin to arrive.

Two minutes later, the sound of a car could be heard, and Shao Jie ran over quickly.

Seeing Yu Yanbin and the others arrive, Cheng Shaolin briefly explained the situation.

Yu Yanbin understood that this was the right thing to do. Having someone guide you was better than knowing nothing at all, and you could also ask about the base's situation while you were there—killing two birds with one stone.

Seeing the wreckage lying on the ground around them, Yu Yanbin called to the people behind him to follow.

The man was taken aback when he saw a group of people enter. He had thought it was just a few of them; there were so many behind them.

Yu Yanbin stepped forward and greeted him: "I am the captain of this team. Thank you for leading us into the base. This has saved us a lot of trouble."

The man hadn't expected that the refined-looking man who came later was the captain; he had thought the handsome and composed one in front was.

He smiled and said, "It's alright, it's alright. We're going back anyway. If you're not in a hurry, you can come with us."

“We’re not in a hurry. The thing is, we’d like to find out more about the base. After all, we’re not familiar with anything inside.”

The man nodded. "No problem, just ask anything you want to know. As long as we know it, we'll let you know."

"Thank you so much." Yu Yanbin said with a smile.

Those sitting over there were all watching Yu Yanbin and his group. These people were all very good-looking and had a very different aura.

The supermarket, which is only about 100 square meters, felt a bit crowded when so many people came in all at once.

The two groups pushed the middle shelf to one side, freeing up space for them to rest on either side.

Yu Yanbin told Xiao Peng and the others to boil some water and make instant noodles; they shouldn't be too fussy when they're out.

The people on the other side were also eating dry rations and drinking mineral water.

Now that we've eaten and drunk our fill, it's time to talk.

The man introduced himself as Tang Yi, saying he worked in a factory before the apocalypse, and everyone he worked with was someone he knew—colleagues and acquaintances from the surrounding area.

Soon everyone was familiar with each other. Tang Yi then began to talk about the situation at the base.

The Qizhou base is currently managed by some former government officials, and their response has been relatively quick. Some measures and decisions have been timely.

Even so, the losses are still enormous. Currently, the base population is only tens of thousands, not including the several smaller bases that exist—essentially, individual survivor settlements.

Some people dislike being controlled and crave freedom, so they don't build bases and form their own teams to survive; this is a real phenomenon.

There are several such teams in Qizhou, varying in size but all very strong.

It's easy to understand if you think about it; how could someone dare to declare themselves king without some strength?

Tang Yi also emphasized that people from these small bases should not be provoked, as they are very difficult to deal with.

Looking at Tang Yi, who was solemnly reminding them, Yu Yanbin smiled and nodded, saying, "Don't worry, we're new here and don't know anything. Why would we do something so foolish?"

Tang Yi nodded, "It's good that you understand. These people are not to be trifled with. Even if you are killed by them, the base will not stand up for you."

Yu Yanbin's eyes darkened slightly.
