Within seconds, Yu Yanbin and Cheng Shaolin got into the car.
Li Xiao still handed them mineral water bottles, and the two of them took them, twisted them open, and started drinking.
"Ah, that feels so good," Yu Yanbin exclaimed after taking a big gulp.
Cheng Shaolin wasn't to be outdone, "Heh, this is still the best way to beat the heat."
Yu Yanbin nodded. After all this time, to be able to drink refreshing mineral water in the apocalypse was something he never dared to dream of.
I never expected that I could drink it anytime now; it's truly unpredictable.
The two of them didn't say anything more, standing at the front of the car, observing the situation outside.
"It seems like it's over."
"Yes, that should be it. Let's keep checking."
"Um."
Neither of them spoke, both focused on looking out the windshield.
Most of the zombies have been eliminated, and now only a few dozen have gathered, a significant decrease.
There weren't as many cars blocking the road as before, so Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu could take a break after working for a while.
The car was moving noticeably faster, and with a series of "bangs," the zombies and other creatures were thrown to the side of the road.
An hour has passed...
The car finally got through the most complicated part of the journey and started to move smoothly.
The car sped up, and Li Xiao sat by the window again, watching the houses and shops rushing past.
"Go another 300 meters, then turn left," Li Xiao called out to Shao Jie as she turned around.
"Okay."
Li Xiao constantly reported on the road conditions and directions.
"How much longer until we get there, Xiaoxiao?" Tian Tian couldn't help but ask.
"Almost there, just a few more streets to go."
"Oh well."
"Xiaoxiao, how's the road? Are there still a lot of zombies?" Cheng Shaolin was more concerned about the situation on the road.
"Yes, it's much better than the previous place, there is still some improvement."
"Okay, that's good. There were way too many just now, and it caused a traffic jam," Shao Jie complained from the front.
"There aren't that many anymore, much less, just the normal amount."
"Okay, that's fine then. Alright, thank you so much, Xiaoxiao, you've worked hard." Yu Yanbin thanked Li Xiao with a smile.
Li Xiao quickly waved her hand, "That's not right. We're all in the same team, there's no need for that."
Yu Yanbin smiled and said, "Okay, I won't do it again next time."
"Um."
"Shao Jie, pay attention to the sounds ahead. If anything seems amiss, shout it out immediately," Yu Yanbin instructed, turning to her.
"No problem, I'm watching."
"Xiaoxiao, did you turn left and keep going?"
"Yes, keep going forward."
It's almost 5 p.m. now, and it will take about an hour to reach the temporary ring road I want to go to.
Linhuan County is also a relatively large county town, located in the northeast.
Amidst the swaying and bumping, we finally saw the direction of the road leading into Linhuan County.
Now, the roads are almost invisible; all you can see are cars packed tightly together.
They were blocking the middle of the road, lying horizontally or crookedly, leaving no gaps.
There were even several zombies stuck in the middle, unable to move.
Looking at the zombies, scorched by the sun like burnt charcoal, I felt truly sorry for them.
The group looked at each other, unsure how to react to the zombie that barely had the strength to even roar.
"Ahem, let's clear our throats." Yu Yanbin cleared his throat, jolting everyone out of their jumbled thoughts.
Then some people started flipping cars, others were killing zombies; everyone started moving around.
Cheng Shaolin stood next to Li Xiao, "Xiao Xiao, can you see what's going on over there?"
"Oh, it's nothing over there. Once we've cleaned it up, we can find a place to stay." Cheng Shaolin nodded.
Meng Yang pulled the stuck zombies out—yes, he pulled them out, like pulling out radishes.
It was stuck in the crevice, almost dried out like a tree trunk, all wilted and pitiful. I've never seen anything like it; it didn't look like a zombie at all.
They gave it to me quickly and threw it aside. Someone who didn't know any better might have thought it was a piece of wood that could be used as firewood.
One by one, the cars were discarded on both sides, leaving a distance just wide enough for one car to pass.
There weren't many zombies, and the cars were easy to clear.
After clearing several kilometers of road, the road ahead gradually became clearer.
We have arrived in Linhuan County.
"Look around and see if there are any suitable houses."
Cheng Shaolin reminded everyone not to focus solely on cleaning the road and neglect their surroundings.
"Okay, I'm watching." Shao Jie was intently staring at the road ahead.
After driving for about 200 meters, a road branched off on the left. Following Li Xiao's map, the car headed left.
Go in on the left, walk a few hundred meters further, and you'll see several tall buildings, as well as a few buildings still under construction, though they're definitely stopped now.
There are so many residential buildings inside; you can choose any one you like. Finding a few suitable rooms to stay in is quite easy.
Along the way, we found a relatively new building that looked like it had just been handed over to residents, as many of the buildings were still unfinished.
Everyone got off the bus, ready to find rooms to stay in this building.
After Li Xiao and the others got off, they put the car into their spatial storage.
"Heh, not bad at all." Yu Yanbin looked meaningfully at Li Xiao, who was walking at the back and only put away her car after everyone else had come out.
"What's wrong?" Cheng Shaolin raised an eyebrow at him.
"No, what could be wrong? I'm just marveling at how convenient this superpower is; I never imagined such an ability existed."
"Nothing is best." Cheng Shaolin ignored him and accompanied Li Xiao into the building.
