Chapter 152 Assassination

Everyone was taken aback.

I'd considered the possibility, but I'd never actually seen it. Now that I've actually seen it, how could I not be surprised?

Yu Yanbin reacted extremely quickly; seeing the spikes move, he sensed something was wrong and immediately retreated. He didn't forget to warn the people next to him before retreating as well.

Upon seeing the spikes flying towards them, everyone quickly retreated, fearing they would be within the firing range.

"Wow, really?" Tian Tian exclaimed in shock.

"My God, it really is this."

All they could see was that row of sharp spikes falling with a "plop plop plop" sound onto the spot where they had stood.

The other half perished along with the throwing knife halfway through its trajectory, in an attempt to block the attack.

"Holy crap, this is going to pierce right through a person!" Shao Jie squatted down to look at the spikes that had fallen to the ground.

Each thorn was as hard as iron; Shao Jie tried to break it with his hands, but it was still difficult to break.

"Oh my god, if this pricks you, it could kill you."

The crowd agreed with Shao Jie's suggestion.

These thorns look formidable; they're so hard and there are so many of them. Everyone looked up at the cactus in the distance, and their hearts sank.

"Heh, not bad at all." Yu Yanbin smirked and twirled his wrist. "But I like it."

Cheng Shaolin couldn't help but smile when he saw the eagerness on Yu Yanbin's face.

Having a strong opponent isn't bad either.

"Do you need me to say so?"

"Hmm." Yu Yanbin wouldn't be polite to Cheng Shaolin.

"Don't do it yet, let me try first."

Cheng Shaolin didn't say anything, but took two steps back.

Yu Yanbin took two steps forward. His previous attack had been blocked, and now he looked ahead again. He stopped, and the throwing knife in his hand flew towards the cactus.

The throwing knife flew quickly over there, but before it even arrived, the cactus launched a counterattack, just like before.

Rows of sharp spikes flew from the front and back in the direction from which the throwing knives came.

The spikes in front flew towards the throwing knives, while the spikes flying out from behind were heading towards where they were standing.

Meng Yang and Feng Yu quickly blocked their path, placing planks of wood in their way and obstructing their advance.

After a series of sharp, beeping sounds, countless steel wire-thick spikes pierced the wooden planks blocking the way.

After the sound stopped, Meng Yang moved the wooden board down, only to find it covered with countless sharp thorns.

"hiss!"

"hiss!"

"hiss!"

Everyone felt a chill run down their spines.

Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu each got two wooden boards, each about one square meter in size, and all four of them were covered in them, making them look like hedgehogs!

This time it's significantly more than last time.

Yu Yanbin's eyes flashed, and he continued to condense throwing knives in his hand and throw them at the cactus.

I don't know if it's been done time and time again, but this time the cactus seems to be angry.

Before the throwing knife even reached the courtyard wall, the sharp thorns on the cactus over there had already shot out.

"Wow, so fast!" Tian Tian couldn't help but exclaim when she saw it.

Everyone noticed the difference this time and couldn't help but feel nervous.

Seeing that the cactus had actually taken the initiative to attack this time, Yu Yanbin quickly threw out a few more throwing knives.

Clang, clang, clang! The throwing knife and the sharp dagger met in mid-air, neither giving way.

The throwing knife spun around in the air several times, knocking down many of the spikes, but many more spikes remained and flew towards where they were standing.

As if sensing that it was being blocked, the cactus shot out even more sharp thorns.

Yu Yanbin saw another spike being launched, and the throwing knife continued to fly out...

They went back and forth like this for several rounds, with neither side gaining an advantage.

"Looks like you have some great ideas." Yu Yanbin's face showed great excitement, as if he had seen something interesting.

Cheng Shaolin crossed his arms, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Do you need my help?"

Yu Yanbin glanced at him sideways, "No need."

Cheng Shaolin chuckled and looked down. "Alright, you can continue playing."

Yu Yanbin snorted coldly and turned back to deal with the cactus in front of him.

Logically speaking, the cactus spines had won quite a few rounds from top to bottom, and the battle had gone back and forth at least five more times.

But the thorns on its body still look plentiful, not much less.

Yu Yanbin was puzzled. Was that really the case?

Or are these thorns just numerous, but actually decreasing in number?

He stared at the mutated plant in front of him, deep in thought. "Shao Lin, do you think its thorns have decreased?"

Cheng Shaolin had the same question, but he hadn't confirmed it yet.

"uncertain."

Yu Yanbin frowned, and the throwing knife in his hand spun as it flew towards the cactus.

At that moment, the cactus stirred, its entire body shuddering as if it had shivered. Its sharp thorns flew towards them like needles.

Everyone's eyes widened and their mouths gaped open.

Those of Li Xiao and the others, standing far away, didn't feel anything. But Yu Yanbin and the others, standing closer, saw it as a dense rain of needles assaulting their direction.

"Back off, everyone be careful!" Yu Yanbin warned as soon as he saw the sharp spikes flying out.

He no longer held back, and quickly conjured a throwing knife to fly towards the sharp spike coming from the opposite side.

Cheng Shaolin didn't dare to watch anymore. Just then, the cactus unleashed its ultimate attack, and he quickly threw out a fireball as well.

Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu also built a wooden wall in front of everyone, and lashed out with the rattan canes in their hands at the flying thorns.
