Chapter 170 Movie

Since we had just agreed to discuss matters during the meal, everyone sat at the table, waiting for the meal to begin.

"Let's eat." As Yu Yanbin spoke, everyone picked up their bowls and started eating.

Everyone understood that there was something important to discuss later.

They ate their meal in silence, the only sound being the chewing of food; there were no other noises.

“You all saw it. Knowing that we were the only ones here, these people still broke in and robbed us. There’s no such thing as a free lunch.”

Yu Yanbin finally spoke when they were almost halfway through the meal. Perhaps because he had just eaten a half-full meal, his mood was not as gloomy as before.

Everyone was chewing food with their mouths open, their ears perked up.

"Alright then, Shao Jie."

Upon hearing this, Shao Jie looked up at Yu Yanbin.

"Drive to the base tomorrow and ask around. Our previous plan is off. Why make things difficult for the base? Let them handle it themselves. We'll leave once this is resolved."

Yu Yanbin approached one after the other, his gloomy words like dark clouds before a storm, assaulting the senses.

"Okay, I'll go tomorrow morning."

"Be careful, they might be watching the base entrance. Be cautious," Cheng Shaolin couldn't help but give him a word of advice. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Shao Jie nodded knowingly. They were unfamiliar with the base, so they should indeed be careful.

"Actually, you can go find Sun Cheng. He's been there for a while and knows more than we do."

Cheng Shaolin gave Shao Jie an idea, and it was a pretty good one.

Shao Jie's eyes lit up; this was a good idea.

"Okay, I'll go look for it tomorrow."

"Originally, I planned to say goodbye to them before I left, but since that's the case, I'll go ahead of time."

Shao Jie swallowed the potato in his mouth. "Okay, Captain, I'll just tell him that we'll leave once this is over."

Yu Yanbin nodded slightly. "Don't tell him the specifics. If he asks, just say our house was ransacked. Don't say anything more to avoid causing him trouble, since he still has to live there."

Shao Jie understood and silently agreed.

"Captain, I'll go with Shao Jie tomorrow, so we can look out for each other."

Meng Yang had finished eating and listened for a while.

"Alright, Uncle Meng can go, but be careful."

Yes, I will.

Today's meal was particularly depressing; I wasn't in the mood for anything. Even though it was the first time I'd eaten with a fan, it didn't bring me much joy.

"Alright, let's find out the situation first. Don't go out after that. There's no need to help the base."

Everyone silently agreed. No one was in the mood to fight the boss now; they might as well leave it to cause trouble for the base.

"We're not going to bother them. Let them be scared for once. What kind of people are they?" Tian Tian said indignantly, her usual smile gone.

"That's right. They knew we were here, yet they weren't polite at all. They even accepted cigarettes offered to them so readily. What kind of people are they?"

Zheng Yongnian, a man who rarely speaks, said so much today, which must have angered the honest man.

"Exactly, exactly. Brothers to your face, but spies on you behind your back. Shameless!" Tian Tian pouted and rolled her eyes.

"Alright, no one's staying here, so they have their reasons. There's no name on the sign either, so they expect them to treat you like royalty. These aren't valid reasons; it's just that your house is in their way."

Tian Tian pursed her lips tightly, her pink lips almost forming a line.

She understood that Yu Yanbin was right, but she couldn't help but get angry.

Yu Yanbin frowned and waved his hand. "Alright, don't say anything more. Let's wait until we find those people. Now pack your things, we can leave anytime."

They all sat dejectedly in their chairs, a gloomy cloud hanging over them that wouldn't dissipate.

The meal was rather dull; everyone was preoccupied and sullen.

After tidying up the table, Li Xiao took out a few cucumbers, washed them, and put them on the table.

I took out a few more electric fans and plugged them in so that it would be cooler when I rested later.

"Alright, Xiaoxiao, stop working and take a break." Cheng Shaolin looked at Xiaoxiao, who was busy like a little bee and hadn't sat down yet, with a face full of heartache.

Xiaoxiao agreed verbally, and after finishing her work, she took a break.

Cheng Shaolin handed her half a cucumber, which Li Xiao took and took a bite of.

Mmm~, crisp, tender, juicy, and crunchy!

She lay on the mat, leaning against the upright pillow, crunching on a cucumber.

With the fan blowing, ah... it's so comfortable to have electricity.

The cool breeze does have some advantages; at least it makes things less uncomfortable, and you can stop thinking about those unpleasant things.

Just like a gentle breeze blowing those annoying things out of the room and into the blazing sun, where they were dried into ashes by the intense heat.

The courtyard wall completely surrounded the house, enveloping it entirely, so nothing could be seen from the outside.

They weren't worried about anyone seeing anything; everyone inside was resting peacefully, with only the whirring fans running and the batteries basking in the sun in the yard.

Li Xiao was still thinking about things. Nothing would happen in the next couple of days, so she took out the batteries and solar panels from her space to sunbathe.

While the sun is shining brightly now, it will be done quickly.

I also bought some chargers and other things that need to be charged, so I can watch some movies and variety shows later.

Lost in thought, she drifted off to sleep.

It was midday, and nobody would come out at this time; they're not stupid.

Since there was nothing much going on, everyone slept a little longer.

If there's nothing I want to do, then all I can do is sleep.

Even after waking up, I just quietly lean against the pillow and close my eyes to rest. It's rare to have such a leisurely time, and I can finally get some proper rest.

When Li Xiao woke up, almost everyone else was already awake; some were resting, while others were doing nothing.

Sigh, it seems like having time to rest has resulted in having nothing to do.

Li Xiao couldn't help but chuckle to herself. She sat up and took out a laptop.

It was Tian Tian who noticed it first, exclaiming, "Wow, Xiaoxiao, we still need you!"

Ignoring Tian Tian's flattery, Li Xiao moved a stool over and placed the computer on it.

When the others saw Li Xiao's actions, they all moved over.

After plugging in the power, Li Xiao turned on the computer and opened the movie she had downloaded earlier.

That's good, now we'll have something to do and won't feel bored.

Everyone crowded together, all ready to watch the movie.

Even the usually aloof and beautiful Qiu had her eyes sparkling as she waited to see what was going on. Li Xiao smiled gently.

This is a post-apocalyptic movie, and quite famous. Some of you may have seen it; consider this a rewatch.

At this point, nobody cares whether they've seen it or not; having something to watch is good enough. As long as it's something to pass the time, nobody cares about that.

Everyone was gathered together, watching the movie with great interest. It was a rare moment of leisure for Li Xiao.
