Chapter 18 Action

Everything's done, time to go out.

You can't see outside from inside this space. If only you could see outside, you could know if anyone is outside from inside the space.

Unlike now, you have to be extremely careful when you go out and bump into someone head-on, otherwise you'll be completely dumbfounded.

After calming myself down, I left the space; there was no one outside.

I quietly walked to the door, looked around, and didn't find anything suspicious. I slowly went downstairs. I thought I'd find another place to stay; this place was closer to the market, and many people would come here.

Aside from factories on the outskirts of the city, there aren't many places in the city with abundant supplies. Oh, and supermarkets and shopping malls too.

Li Xiao didn't plan to go to these places; being alone made her vulnerable to being surrounded and attacked, and the risk was too high.

It was quiet downstairs. Many zombies lay dead on the ground and along the roadside. I hadn't killed that many myself; those people must have done it. There weren't many zombies around anymore; I didn't know if they were just passing by and killed casually, or if it was a deliberate cleanup.

From the moment she came downstairs, she was thinking about her superpowers. Whenever she thought about looking at other places or what was in front of her, a three-dimensional map would appear in front of her.

Like now, this is a map of the neighborhood.

Buildings, stairs, rooms, structures, and green and red moving things—she couldn't quite figure them out yet.

She was already overjoyed to have superpowers, so she wasn't in a hurry to figure out what was going on.

This is a circular map with a radius of one kilometer, right? It doesn't show any areas further away.

It's already very good, and quite useful.

Turning his head, the map followed suit, and after a full circle, he had a general understanding of the surrounding area.

Architecture is just those frameworks, those rules and regulations.

All that's left are those red and green ones, and I don't know what they are.

It seems like something's missing?

Yes, no zombies are showing up. So, are those slow-moving, stumbling figures on the map zombies?

If zombies are red, then will the living be green?

Upon closer inspection, it does indeed resemble a human shape. The green signs are all inside the building, while the red ones are mostly outside, with only a few inside.

You'll know once you confirm it.

There were several people in the building, not together, not on the same floor, but all in their rooms.

One of them was by the window, probably looking at her.

She looked up at the 8th floor, and sure enough, the floral curtains were half-drawn, revealing a head. Someone was half-hidden behind the curtains, looking at her.

She turned around and left the residential area with a smile on her face.

The person at the window kept watching her until she was out of sight.

The map is changing, extending forward. The red area definitely represents zombies; there's a zombie across the street that matches the red shape on the map.

What she now understands is that her ability can display a three-dimensional map of the current 1 square kilometer area. The map can show all visible buildings, streets, zombies, and people.

However, it was impossible to identify who exactly they were.

That's enough. Whoever it is can be ignored.

She was very satisfied with this ability. She could know in advance where people were and where zombies were, and she could also know where the streets were and where she was going. It was truly an essential tool for home and travel.

Going left is the direction you came from, going right leads to the southwest, and you need to go north.

The streets were jammed with cars, making it impossible to drive.

He ran forward, pursued by two or three, or even four or five zombies.

According to the map, there were a few zombies scattered on the street ahead, and hardly any living people in the surrounding buildings. They'd either run away or turned into zombies. Those who were still waiting here either couldn't get out or didn't intend to.

He killed the two zombies that surrounded him, then turned the corner and ran north.

After a while, I started to have a slight headache. Is this a side effect of using my superpowers for too long?

The man with the buzz cut couldn't launch the dirt spikes from behind either; it must be the same reason.

Put away your powers. The path ahead is clear, so it's okay if you don't use them.

As the number of zombies gathered, she went into a small shop.

This whole street is lined with shops, and it's surrounded by residential areas. There are many shops here.

There were many zombies lying on the ground; the area had already been cleared.

Once the zombies had dispersed, she opened the door and continued running forward.

Once you get outside the residential area, the number of zombies decreases significantly. I remember there's an area with many red markers indicating a certain area is active. Avoid that area; escaping there means certain death.

Not 10 or 20 zombies, but at least several hundred!

I have a rough idea; it must be a school there.

She exhaled and headed in the opposite direction. She found a working electric scooter; that saved her the trouble.

Unbeknownst to her, a group of people were in the direction she was heading.

As he ran forward, he looked around to see if there was anything he could put away.

I found some food and drinks along the way, probably leftovers from others: a few packs of biscuits, a few packs of sanitary napkins, two bottles of water, and three packs of tissues.

We weren't planning on collecting supplies; we'll just collect as much as we can.

As she turned the corner, a man pointed a gun at her head.

!!

Her heart skipped a beat, and she quickly stopped and raised her hand, her face turning pale.

When the man saw that it was a young girl approaching, he withdrew his hand, but he still did not put away his gun.

The man was dark-skinned and was looking at her with a serious expression, his face stern, his lips pursed, and he didn't smile.

However, there was no look of disgust in his eyes when he saw a woman.

Li Xiao wasn't wearing a mask today because the sun was out.
