Seeing Cheng Shaolin walk in without any apparent injury, Li Xiao finally felt relieved.
"Yes, it's resolved. They were all very weak."
Okay, anyone who can't beat you is weak.
"Okay, that's good. We're fast here too. Why are these people so weak? And these are supposed to be high-level ability users. It seems like the ability users in this base aren't very strong."
Cheng Shaolin didn't pay much attention to things that didn't concern them.
They don't go to this base; the situation inside the base has nothing to do with them.
"We can't control what they do. Once this place is finished, we'll leave."
"Shall we leave now?" Li Xiao asked.
"Yes, I'm leaving right away. There's nothing here to miss."
Everyone gathered together, and Meng Yang used his superpower to roll them up and drag them all to the open space outside.
Cheng Shaolin threw several fireballs, which landed on the people. The fireballs quickly burst into flames upon contact with their clothing.
In the blink of an eye, these people were engulfed in flames. With a series of crackling sounds, those lying on the ground were burned to ashes.
No one spoke; they all watched the flames burn calmly until only a layer of ash remained on the ground.
In the end, no matter who it is, they will all turn into a handful of dust.
Once the wind blows, nothing is left.
Time is the true test of everything. The wind passes without leaving a trace. What will each person leave behind in the end?
Li Xiao looked at the leaping and shining flames in front of her. The leaping flames cast red shadows on her eyes, as if the flames were dancing joyfully in her eyes.
This is everyone's destiny; there's nothing to dwell on.
Since that's something that's a long time from now, there's no need to dwell on it now.
Li Xiao chuckled, "Then let's enjoy the present moment."
The sky, the clouds, the sun, and people...
Having witnessed something like this before, no one felt the same discomfort they had the first time. They all watched the flickering flames calmly.
The flames of a fire-type ability user are much hotter than the fire used for cooking on a stove, and they burn everything in their path until it turns to ash.
"Alright, it's all over. Let's go."
The matter was over in less than an hour, and we were still able to have lunch at the base.
Everyone knew they would say goodbye to Sun Cheng before leaving. Sun Cheng had helped them so much; they should at least say goodbye before he left.
There was no lingering excitement after it was over, only a sense of relief. The weight on my heart had been lifted, and I felt no other emotions whatsoever.
"Shao Jie, go to the base and find Sun Cheng. We'll have a meal and then we'll leave."
Shao Jie was resting with his head down when he heard Yu Yanbin call him, at which point he raised his head.
"Okay, I'll go to his workplace to find him."
"Hmm." Yu Yanbin closed his eyes and leaned back in his chair after saying that.
The car sped towards the base under the bright sunlight, facing the sun without fear.
It was already 10 a.m. when we arrived at the base. Since we still had plenty of time to find Sun Cheng and Dan Dan, we stayed at the shop where we had met Sun Cheng earlier.
Waiting for the right time, and then going to even farther places.
When Shao Jie went to find Sun Cheng, Sun Cheng was quite surprised. Wasn't he supposed to be looking for those people? How come he saw Shao Jie here?
Shao Jie didn't call out to Sun Cheng, but with just a glance, Sun Cheng understood. He looked around, and seeing no one paying attention, followed behind Shao Jie.
The two stood two meters apart, one in front of the other, without uttering a word or making a sound. They walked out of the base in a seemingly unrelated and ordinary manner.
When Sun Cheng arrived at the shop where he was supposed to meet the captain, he stood two meters away from the shop and saw his former teammate.
As his teammates smiled warmly at him, a feeling welled up inside Sun Cheng and climbed all the way to his eyes.
"Captain, everyone..." Sun Cheng excitedly called out the names of his former teammates. Each vivid name held a large place in his heart.
Meeting them during those dark days of the apocalypse and the short time he spent with them was an unforgettable experience for him.
He doesn't want to forget, and he can't forget.
"Come in, let's eat together," Yu Yanbin said with a smile, inviting Sun Cheng in.
"Hmm." Sun Cheng smiled as he was ushered into the shop. When he saw the food already laid out, he couldn't help but break down in his guard.
The shop had a simple table set up with instant noodles, bottled side dishes, stir-fried potatoes, radishes, and meat with dried vegetables.
It's been so long since I've seen cooked food; it must have been since we separated and entered the base.
“Captain?…” Sun Cheng was stammering; he couldn’t believe his eyes.
He swallowed hard and squeezed his eyes shut, thinking that if he opened them again, everything in front of him would disappear.
In fact, when he opened his eyes, the food was still steaming and he could feel the warmth emanating from it.
"Sit down, sit down and eat with us."
"Oh dear, come sit down, come sit down and eat." Tian Tian couldn't stand it anymore and pulled Sun Cheng's arm to lead him to the table.
Sun Cheng was pulled off a tumble by Tian Tian, but quickly regained his balance.
Tian Tian pulled Sun Cheng to the table and pressed him into the chair that had been prepared.
Sun Cheng felt uneasy and wanted to get up, but just as he was about to make a move, a pair of hands pressed down on his shoulders.
