Chapter 206 Confession

"Although you are not as lively as before, I think I like you more the way you are now."

Li Xiao blinked, her heart pounding erratically.

The young woman in front of me had bright, sparkling eyes, which was a bit different from her usual aloof demeanor, making it more in line with her age.

Cheng Shaolin was in a good mood; it had been a long time since he had such a comfortable chat with Li Xiao.

There were no outsiders to disturb them today, just the two of them, it was really comfortable.

"I honestly can hardly remember what you used to look like. When I think about it, it's all very blurry. I still prefer how you are now. Before, it might not have been 'liking' as I would have said. I mean, the kind of 'liking'," Cheng Shaolin explained again.

"Are you sure you really like me the way I am now?" Li Xiao knew that if she said that now, it would easily lead to speculation. But she didn't care what people thought; she just wanted an answer.

Cheng Shaolin also had his own questions, but he wasn't focusing on them right now. He was currently more concerned with other issues that he considered more important.

"I'm sure. You're completely different now than before, I can tell the difference. Are you worried that I can't tell whether I like the current you or the old you?"

Li Xiao pursed her lips, her pink lips pressed tightly together, and the corners of her mouth were pulled down.

Cheng Shaolin then realized what was happening and raised his voice, "Is that why you asked me?"

Cheng Shaolin was quite annoyed at having wasted so much time. If he had known earlier that this was what Li Xiao cared about, he would have said it sooner.

Li Xiao was a little embarrassed that her secret had been exposed. She lowered her head, her eyes darting around.

Cheng Shaolin looked at Li Xiao's frizzy hair sticking up on her head. He had never seen Li Xiao like this before, and he found it really cute.

Cheng Shaolin placed his hand on Li Xiao's head, pressing down her frizzy hair and stroking it a couple of times.

"Are you worried about this? You can tell me."

Li Xiao paused for a moment before whispering, "How should I ask?" She glanced at Cheng Shaolin as she spoke.

Cheng Shaolin chuckled. Yes, girls are generally more shy and reserved; Li Xiao's outgoing personality is unlike that of a girl.

"Okay, fine, I won't ask. Now I can tell you for sure that I like you now, and it's not the same kind of liking as before. Before, it might have been more like brother and sister, but now it's the kind of liking between a man and a woman."

Li Xiao felt a lump in her throat, as if something had been stuffed into her heart, filling her small heart completely, leaving no gaps.

Cheng Shaolin held Li Xiao's hands in his own, stared into her beautiful eyes, and said earnestly and sincerely, "I'm telling the truth. I won't lie to you. I'm serious. I like you, Xiao Xiao. I want to face the storms with you, I want to be your safe haven, I want to be your closest lover."

Li Xiao knew that Cheng Shaolin liked her, but she was still a little surprised to be told so bluntly. She parted her pink lips slightly and looked at Cheng Shaolin with wide eyes.

Cheng Shaolin's image could be seen reflected in her sparkling black eyes.

Cheng Shaolin stared directly into Li Xiao's eyes, making Li Xiao's ears burn and her cheeks turn red.

Cheng Shaolin's image was reflected in Li Xiao's eyes, only his image. He wanted Li Xiao's eyes to be filled with him, and only him.

He needed to confirm the most important thing now. He took a deep breath and asked softly, "Xiaoxiao, do you like me?"

The soft tone and the barely perceptible tremor in his voice revealed the speaker's caution and eagerness.

Seeing the man in front of her showing such rare caution and timidity, Li Xiao felt a surge of excitement. So this man had this side to him too.

"I want a man who is completely devoted to me. I don't remember what I was like before, but I still hope that the person who likes me likes the me I am now."

Cheng Shaolin hurriedly said, "I've said it before, I like you the way you are now, you can rest assured about that."

Li Xiao waited for him to finish speaking before continuing, "I'm not a magnanimous person. As long as someone is devoted to me, I will also be devoted to them."

Cheng Shaolin instantly broke into a wide smile, his face showing only bright eyes and a mouth that stretched almost to the back of his ears.

"Xiaoxiao, I will. I will love you more than myself. I will protect you, cherish you, and love you dearly. You are the only love in my heart, and there is no one else but you."

This was the first time Li Xiao had ever been so directly and passionately confessed to, making her face flush and her heart pound.

Looking at the girl's flushed face, Cheng Shaolin couldn't help but tighten his grip on her hands. Her palms were hot, and there was a slight, unconscious tremor in her hands.

Is this nervousness?

Actually, he was nervous, afraid of rejection, and also afraid of not getting what he wanted.

He joked to himself, "So I never knew I could be such a coward."

"Are you saying yes, Xiaoxiao? I want to be your man. Only your man. Is that okay?" His deep eyes seemed as unfathomable as the ocean, threatening to drown Li Xiao within them.

Their dark eyes were focused intently, waiting for Li Xiao's answer.

Li Xiao's cheeks burned even hotter under his gaze, her blushing face revealing shyness. Her large, watery eyes shimmered with tears, and her usually aloof gaze was now tender and gentle. Her rosy lips spoke in a soft, shy voice.

"Hmm." As she spoke, she glanced quickly at Cheng Shaolin. In that one glance, she saw the man's mouth widen in a grin after hearing the satisfactory answer, and he looked like a fool.

Cheng Shaolin suddenly pulled Li Xiao into his arms, his deep and pleasant voice ringing in her ears.

"Xiaoxiao, I'm so happy, really, so happy. I'm so happy today, I will love you forever." He couldn't help but kiss Li Xiao on the cheek.

Li Xiao was stunned by the soft touch of his kiss; she hadn't expected Cheng Shaolin to be so bold. The heat that had just subsided on her face suddenly rose again, and seemed poised to rise even higher.

Cheng Shaolin loved Li Xiao's shy demeanor and didn't want to let go once he held her in his arms. His heart instantly felt complete, filled with Li Xiao—her happiness, her smile, her voice, and her eyes.

Every little thing was sweet and beautiful. He felt that no matter what the future held, he didn't care. He had people and things he cared about.

Li Xiao tried her best to push him away, but she was no match for Cheng Shaolin's strength and couldn't push him away after a long time.

"Loosen up, it's too tight. Let go." Li Xiao was a little annoyed.

Cheng Shaolin loosened his grip on her arm, and Li Xiao's breathing became easier. She glared at Cheng Shaolin.

Cheng Shaolin didn't mind at all, he just indulgently watched Li Xiaoxiao, whose mouth was wide open and couldn't be closed, making her look silly.

The handsome guy, who seemed a bit goofy today, said cheerfully, "Today is the happiest day of my life. I will always remember this date." He turned to look at Li Xiao, "This is a day worth commemorating."

Today is October 11th.
