Chapter 223 Going on a Mission Together

In the afternoon, Shao Jie and Xiao Peng went out again and brought back news that was confirmed to be true.

Now everyone felt a huge weight lifted off their shoulders.

After staying indoors for so long, I'm practically covered in mold.

The sun is nowhere to be seen every day, and it's been raining incessantly, which is really unpleasant.

They complained when the sun was shining brightly, and they'll complain when the sun is gone.

People are really hard to please.

"Finally, I can go out. Sigh, I've been here for so long, I'm practically moldy." Yu Yanbin stood up, stretched, and turned to face the window.

Did they say when they would be going on the mission?

"There's a mission tomorrow morning. The team announcement will be made today. It has nothing to do with us, so I didn't listen anymore."

"Okay, then we'll go with them tomorrow."

The captain gave the order, and everyone was excited. Finally, they could go out for some fresh air.

"You guys are really pathetic. You're not even happy to rest. You're really pathetic." Cheng Shaolin leaned back in his sofa chair, his contempt evident in his words, which made the others chuckle foolishly.

"I'd better take out something to make it look like I'm doing something first."

"Okay, just take a little. Now that your spatial abilities are working, don't worry." Cheng Shaolin said to Li Xiao, patting the back of her head.

"Well, let's leave the raincoat and stuff outside so they're easy to grab."

"Okay, that's fine. Just put a little in each person's backpack."

Li Xiao prepared a spare raincoat, some spare medicine, and some food for herself. Not much, just in case.

They were all so excited about the trip the next day that they went to bed early and woke up before 5 a.m.

After a quick breakfast, we all shouldered our backpacks and drove to the base gate.

They arrived early, but there were others who arrived even earlier.

Yan Bin, the captain of the first squadron of the base's superpower squadron, saw another car approaching and waved his flashlight to signal it to stop.

Xiao Peng was driving. Seeing the lights guiding him, he gradually slowed down until he came to a stop.

The car window rolled down, and only with the help of the light could one see who the person was.

"So it's Captain Yan. Are you leading the team again today?" Xiao Peng asked.

"Oh, it's you guys. Looks like you're going out together today too. Well, this time it's me and the 3rd Brigade leading the team again."

Yu Yanbin rolled down his car window and greeted Yan Bin. "Captain Yan, the usual place today?"

"Yes, it's still there. It's an industrial zone where all the materials from the factories have to be collected. You can collect more there and exchange them for points."

"Okay, thank you, Captain Yan."

"It's alright, it's all for everyone's sake. Just move your cars out of the way and don't block the road. There will be someone to guide you over there."

"Okay." Yu Yanbin waved and left through the base gate after saying goodbye.

Sure enough, several large vehicles were already parked outside the base; they all seemed quite enthusiastic.

"Xiao Peng, move to the back of the line."

"Um."

Following the instructions, the people in line continued to the back of the queue. There were already seven or eight cars ahead of them, though it was unclear whether it was one queue or several.

“There should be two teams.” Shao Jie ran to take a look and came back to tell everyone this.

"How did you figure that out?" Zheng Yongnian asked him. Now that they've known each other for a while, Zheng Yongnian isn't as taciturn as before; he occasionally talks to everyone. This is much better than before.

"The teams that went out were basically the same as us, using buses to carry people. If they wanted to collect supplies, they would definitely use trucks as well. The basic operation was a combination of buses and trucks."

"The vehicles in front were a bus and two trucks, and a bus and three trucks. I think these should be two different teams."

"Now that you mention it, it must be true. Nobody drives two buses with a truck sandwiched between them. This is a road trip. You wouldn't be that careful, would you?"

"Yes, that makes sense."

"Won't they find it strange?" Zheng Yongnian asked Shao Jie.

Shao Jie turned to look at him, not understanding what he meant.

"Probably not." Li Xiao understood Zheng Yongnian's meaning and chuckled.

Zheng Yongnian thought for a moment and then nodded, "Yes, I should be able to think of it now."

"Yeah, everyone who knows already knows." Li Xiao didn't care anymore. The whole nation had already been informed, so there was nothing to hide.

Indeed, as Li Xiao said, when they saw that there was only one car leaving the city, everyone had their own guesses.

"Hey, Captain, look?" A young man following behind Yan Bin said, looking at the car that was leaving the base gate in front of them.

Yan Bin watched the car's taillights disappear into the darkness, and said in the same voice, "What, you can't allow others to have that?"

"Oh, I was just saying, this group is really well hidden. I've never heard of them before."

Yan Bin glared at him. "Why should I say anything? It's their own business. Alright, get back to work and stop asking about these things."

"Hey, Captain, I was just saying, it's nothing serious. I'm going right now."

Seeing that his captain was about to lose his temper, the young man quickly made his escape.

Watching his teammates run away quickly, Yan Bin looked back in the direction they had been, though he could see nothing at all now, just pitch black.

Before 6 o'clock, all teams had assembled. The first battalion of the base led the way, followed by the other selected teams, with the second battalion bringing up the rear.

Following behind their long line were teams of superhumans of all sizes from the base.

The Chaoyang team arrived early and were actually near the front of the line.

"The line behind us is really long." Tian Tian rolled down the car window and turned her head to look back, where she couldn't see the end of the line.

"This is the first time I've gone out with the base. We've been locked up for so long, and I'm not thinking of following behind to take advantage of the situation."

"That's true. Hey, Xiaoxiao, do you think that if such a long line gets into danger, the people in front will come to their rescue?"

"I don't know, maybe, but probably not."

"What are you thinking? We already agreed that you can come along, but you'll be responsible for any problems that arise." Shao Jie rested his head on his hands, leaning back in his chair, and closed his eyes to rest.

"Just mind your own business and don't do anything else." Yu Yanbin sat in the front row, holding a flashlight and looking at the city map in his hand to check the geographical information.

He's not worried about anything else; his team is strong enough to protect themselves. His only concern is unforeseen circumstances. It's always good to prepare in advance.

Everyone understood what Yu Yanbin meant and knew what to do.

It's the same road, the same place. Even the speed is about the same as last time, nothing has changed.

You can also hear sounds coming from ahead; there's a battle going on. You can also see supernatural beings flying away into the distance from the window.

Li Xiao didn't care about any of that; she only focused on the information on her map.
