The zombies that rushed in were being mercilessly slaughtered, and their numbers were visibly decreasing.
With hope in sight, the superpowered individuals began to freely use their abilities.
Even with the light from the fireball and the fire dragon, you could still make out some things.
The rain continued, causing a lot of trouble for everyone. But no matter how troublesome it was, it couldn't stop everyone's determination to survive.
Any difficulty can be solved, ignored, or overcome.
The superhumans were all at the front, fighting off the charging zombies. Some superhumans with less combat ability wisely stayed in the back, like Shao Jie, harvesting the severed limbs of the zombies.
Those zombies that weren't immediately killed were all hacked to death by these superhumans wielding various swords and knives.
Everyone did their best to participate in the battle; no one retreated, nor did they even think of retreating.
They understood very well that if they didn't give it their all at this point, where could they possibly retreat to?
None of them are confused; at this time, they should work together to resist.
If we retreat now, it will be impossible for us to continue living in the base.
No one is stupid; everyone has thought things through carefully. If we don't cooperate properly now, we'll only face even greater difficulties in surviving.
Cheng Shaolin and his group were quite close together. He and Yu Yanbin stood on either side of their respective teams, protecting them and keeping them within a safe distance as much as possible.
Cheng Shaolin and Yu Yanbin held off most of the zombies on either side, while Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu, positioned between them, kept a close watch on their surroundings and helped clear out the remaining zombies.
Xiao Peng, on the other hand, had his back to them and was facing their backs, thus forming a semi-encirclement that could be used for both offense and defense.
In the darkness, others cannot see them, but they themselves are very clear about what is happening.
In this state, they killed with ease and comfort.
The wave of zombies that just rushed in has been mostly wiped out; only a few remain.
"Take a break while you can," Yan Bin shouted again. Then he made a decision. With the zombies attacking in waves, his side would be overwhelmed if they had to defend against them for too long.
"Captain Xiang, you all move to the rear. We'll hold them off here for now. You all get some rest and will be relieved later. Please arrange the troops in the rear, and try to make the best possible arrangements."
Xiang Yuping understood that this was a better battle plan, so he did not refuse and gradually withdrew.
Then the team behind them came into view and took over the position of Xiang Yuping's team.
Thus, Yu Yanbin and his group were moved to the front and followed behind the first brigade.
They didn't panic and continued fighting as before, which had no impact on them.
Before two minutes had passed, a noisy roar came from afar.
"They're here, be careful." Yan Bin's voice rang out loudly in the night, alerting everyone.
Then a large number of zombies rushed in again, rushing towards the superhuman.
They continued fighting, just like before. However, after the previous battles, some of the superhumans were noticeably sluggish.
Seeing that a superhuman next to him was about to be grabbed by a zombie before he could react, Cheng Shaolin, with his sharp eyes, quickly stepped forward, grabbed the person, and pulled him behind him.
Zheng Zihao was filled with despair, thinking he was about to die at the hands of a zombie. Just as he was waiting for the zombie's claws to strike, he was suddenly pulled backward by a strong force.
Then, I was turned around and moved to a different place.
Before he could react, another hand grabbed his shoulder and turned him around, and a voice rang out. "Wake up."
It took Zheng Zihao a couple of seconds to realize that he was already quite a distance from where he had been standing.
The person who had just pulled him back, when he looked closely at the fireball in his hand, realized that he was a very handsome man.
With a handsome face and a tall, upright figure, he hurled fireballs at the zombies.
He knew this person; he was the vice-captain of the Chaoyang Squad, a very powerful superhuman.
So it was him who saved me.
"Don't look around, be careful."
Zheng Zihao then looked at the person who had turned him around. The person was wielding a rattan weaving in one hand, swiftly twisting and severing the zombie's head.
"Thank you." Zheng Zihao was very grateful.
"Okay, be careful. It's dark and you can't see clearly, so be careful yourself." When Meng Yang saw Cheng Shaolin rescuing someone, he pulled him to his side to keep him away from the danger zone.
Even in the dim light, one could still see the lingering panic and fear on the young superhuman's face.
"If you're tired, move on and rest before continuing," Meng Yang said.
Zheng Zihao knew he didn't have much strength left, and his special ability wasn't very high. He had already done his best to persevere for so long.
Continuing here would probably only be a burden, so it would be better to rest in the back before fighting again.
"Okay, sure." After saying that, Meng Yang used his supernatural ability to send him to the back and then left him there.
After leaving the person behind, Meng Yang focused on his own business.
Surprisingly, Cheng Shaolin and Yu Yanbin saved several people during this time. They were either exhausted or reacted too late.
Meng Yang and Qiu Fengyu are currently mostly helping these people get to the rear to rest.
The greatest achievement is the absence of casualties. It's not just about killing zombies. Ensuring everyone escapes unharmed is the ultimate victory.
Yan Bin noticed this after a while, and he was truly grateful to this team. Not everyone could do something like this – keeping an eye on other ability users and offering them help while fighting.
After this incident, I need to give a proper report to my superiors.
Seeing more and more people moving to the back, Xiang Yuping knew that the people in front had reached their limit, so he prepared to go and help them and switch places.
However, this wave of zombies hasn't been completely wiped out yet, and this time it's much slower than before.
Never mind all that, human beings are the most important.
"Captain Yan, I'm here to relieve you," Xiang Yuping shouted loudly.
"Come on." Yan Bin didn't refuse. He could also see that there were quite a few zombies in this wave, and they were all at their limit. It wouldn't be wise to continue to hold on.
The rested superhumans gradually advanced from the perimeter, causing the superhumans in front to slowly move back, until their positions were reversed.
The superhumans ahead can finally relax; they are truly exhausted.
Xiang Yuping took the lead, replacing the first brigade, and stood guard at the very front of everyone.
Having exhausted all their abilities, the superhumans could finally catch their breath, leaning against the wall behind them, not wanting to say a word.
